Food Stall: Customers Chase Me across the Country
Synopsis
By the time the first pot of broth comes to a boil, Wang Fan has already realized something is wrong with reality.
One moment he’s an ordinary guy setting up a shabby little stall. The next, a strange “food system” snaps awake in his head—and every plate that leaves his hands tastes like a miracle.
Rice noodle rolls turn silk-soft, wrapped around shrimp that bite back with a fresh, springy snap. Skewers of lamb hiss over open flame, fat dripping and popping, smoke curling up with a faint, impossible note of apple. A simple crab roe bun, split with a pair of chopsticks, spills molten gold—crab meat and roe sliding out in a fragrant rush that makes people go quiet before they swear, eyes shining, that it’s changed their life.
They call him Boss Wang. They swear his buns glowed last night in Tiantongyuan. They set alarms at dawn, race across the city, only to find an empty corner and wheel tracks. Someone half-jokingly calls a TV station to file a “missing person” notice. Someone else, already too full, is clutching their stomach and begging to be helped up so they can eat three more bowls.
Because once you’ve tasted it, you can’t go back.
Wang Fan never planned to be hunted across the country by his own customers. But with every new city, every night market and back alley stall, his legend spreads—and the line between chasing a dream and being chased by it grows thinner than steam over a fresh basket of buns.
