Synopsis
The last thing Tu Xiao’an remembers is the screech of brakes and the taste of iron on his tongue.
Then cold earth. The thud of his own new body sliding through grass. No hands, no voice—only coils, scales, and a hiss he can’t quite believe is his.
Tu Xiao’an wakes up reborn as a snake, buried in the undergrowth of a dangerous wilderness. In his head, a strange mechanical voice lists “missions” and “evolution paths,” whispering promises: devour, grow stronger, evolve. Every creature he swallows feeds something inside him, sharpening his fangs, thickening his scales, twisting his simple serpent form toward something immense and terrifying.
But what drives him isn’t hunger. It’s the image of his mother’s shoulders shaking over a cheap funeral urn. His younger sister staring at his old, cracked phone, screen lit with messages he will never answer.
He slithers through the dark, repeating apologies they will never hear. With every kill, he hoards power—not for conquest, but for a single, impossible vow: one day he will crawl out of the shadows, stand before them again under the open sky, and shield them from a world that already took him once.
To reach them, Tu Xiao’an must climb the brutal food chain of monsters and men alike, choosing with every shed skin whether he is still their son and brother, or only the cold-blooded emperor his new nature demands.
If he loses that last, fragile thread to his family, all his evolution will buy him nothing but a throne of bones and an empty name.
