Kane's Salvation
Synopsis
Kane keeps the lights on and the doors locked, dozing in a chair with a gun at his hip, because sleep is when the promises he broke come back.
Eight years ago, a boy died in his arms on a dirty piece of foreign ground and made him swear to protect a little sister with haunted eyes. Kane Burke, tattooed Delta Force operator turned silent guardian of Blackwood Falls, chose the one method he trusted: stay invisible, stay away, watch from the shadows of a small Montana town and make sure nothing ever touches her.
Then Callie shows up on his porch with a beat-up car, a folded letter from her brother, and questions she’s been storing like shrapnel since she was fourteen.
She expects an answer, not a man built like the first safe room she’s ever walked into. He’s older by fourteen years, inked to the throat, broad-shouldered and stubborn as winter, and he won’t come closer than an arm’s reach. To a psychology student who lives on reading microexpressions and unsaid words, the distance is loud. He isn’t guarded. He’s at war with himself for still breathing.
Night after night in his spare room, Callie lies awake knowing he’s on the other side of that thin wall, pacing the floorboards he installed to keep her alive. She didn’t come here looking to hand over her first time to the man who failed to save her brother. She didn’t plan on wanting the rough mouth, the scarred hands, the way he watches her like she’s both confession and punishment.
To protect her now, Kane can’t disappear. He has to open the door, let her into the mess, and stand his ground when the last threat to Blackwood Falls steps into the light. Because this is the end of the Guardians’ long reckoning: six men, one brotherhood, and a final shot at burning out the shadows.
If Kane chooses wrong—if he clings to guilt instead of the girl who crossed eight lost years in nine sleepless nights—the town will survive its enemies, and he’ll be the one ghost left behind.
Kane’s Salvation is the sixth and final installment in the Guardians of Blackwood Falls, a forbidden, age-gap guardian romance featuring a virgin heroine, a broken, tattooed operator, and a town ready to lay its monsters in the ground—for good.
