She jumped to the nearest home's rooftop with graceful agility before she began hopping from one roof to the next. I didn't know her level, but she was quite the speedster. Kitsara was most certainly not a stay-at-home pampered princess, which greatly surprised me.
My impression of this woman was that she was completely all over the place.
Kitsara came to me with the pure intention of seduction, but once we began talking, a great wonderment for the vast world could be felt from her, so much so she evidently forgot she was trying to trap me by inciting my lust for her gorgeous body.
For a moment, I debated if I should follow her. Doing so could lead to a trap, after all. But my curiosity got the better of me.
Using wind magic to lighten my weight to not break any rooftop I landed on, I followed after this speedy woman. Our journey took us a good five minutes, at which point Kitsara arrived at a temple.
Beastkin revered the Goddess just like the humans, dwarves, and elves did. I could see dogkin Arch-Priest preach about the Goddess' awesomeness to a crowd gathered in front of the temple.
Canisgard didn't seem to favor slave labor. From what I'd seen, the dogkin people as a whole refrained from the practice. In their lands, only dogkin and their protectorate, the sheepkin could be seen living together in perfect harmony.
Kitsara easily evaded the senses of the crowd somehow, despite her body's strong smell. It seemed she had a spell similar to Vex's . She silently hopped onto the top of the temple from which she jumped once again toward the top of the large tower built into it. There, a large, golden hanging bell could be seen. They were likely using it to notify the citizens of the time and important events, such as a fire breakout, invasion by hostiles, etc.
Kitsara jumped even further, sitting down on the roof of the bell room, and then looking my way. I wasn't quite the acrobat like Blossom or Ayame, but I could follow her course, albeit with far less grace.
Once there, I sat down next to this strange woman. She fiddled around with her fingers for only a few seconds before responding to my question.
"I was trying to seduce you because I must leave this place."
"Must leave this place? Aren't you a royal princess? Your life here should be as good as can be."
Kitsara exhaled, letting a dejected sigh leave her lips.
"My life is a lie fabricated by Father to give me the best life possible, as you said, butā¦" Kitsara raised her hands to her chest and used her fingers to form a practiced gesture as she whispered a single incantation.
A wave of energy pulsed over her body like rippling water, distorting her features.
Her short, rounded dogkin ears elongated, sharpening into elegant, fur-tufted points. Her neck-length hair unfurled into cascading waves of white. Behind her, the rather modest tail of a dogkin transformedālengthening, thickeningāuntil it became a grand, pristine appendage over a meter long.
The woman sitting next to me was no longer a dogkin. She had become something far more mythical.
"You..." My voice trailed off as I took in the sight of her new form. "You're no dogkin."
Kitsara met my gaze with an intensity I hadn't seen from her before. "I'm a foxkin."
"I'd seen foxkin but they don't appear thisā¦ I don't know, mythical?"
"That's because I was blessed with the greatest privilege my kind can have. Upon turning eighteen years old, I unlocked the Nine-Tailed Sorceress class."
I followed her gaze as she observed her long, fluffy tail. After a self-deprecating chuckle, she said, "But, at the present, I am just a one-tailed sorceress."
I had heard about the legendary creature called kitsune back on Earth, this nine-tail business greatly reminded me of those beings. However, Kitsara was not born as such a creature. She's a foxkin with a class that gave her powers akin to that of a mythical kitsune.
"Let's backpedal a bit," I said, wishing to get to the bottom of this strange situation. "Why are you living with dogkin instead of your people? If you revealed your class, wouldn't they treat you like royalty? Your life wouldn't be worse than it is currently."
"You're correct, butā¦ Vargis, my father, found me as an abandoned little foxkin when he was hunting. My biological parents likely left me in the vast plains to die. He took pity on me and raised me as if I were his daughter, despite the foxkin and dogkin not being on good terms with each other. He has a very big heartā¦"
She then giggled cutely, "If your girl is a golden retriever, Father would be a mastiff breed, I'm sure of it."
I couldn't help but laugh alongside Kitsara. Remembering back to Vargis, he did indeed remind me of a Tibetan Mastiff. After a few seconds, she continued. "Father tried to give me back to the foxkin as an orphan, but they said they want to do nothing with a child who has been tainted by the stench of hounds. As such, he took it upon himself to raise me, despite not having a wife to help him outā¦
Once I unlocked this class, I gained illusionist abilities that allowed me to transform my body, at least slightly. I've been on multiple diplomatic meetings with Father where the foxkin elite were present as well, but no matter if I presented myself as a foxkin or dogkin, they scoffed at me when I tried talking to them, telling me to scram back to my ilk."
"Even as a foxkin? I'm assuming you made yourself into a normal foxkin?"
"Yesā¦" she murmured before making another round of hand gestures. "."
Her unnaturally large tail and elongated ears reduced slightly, and even the abnormal shine of her fur disappeared, making her appear much more fox-like and less like a mythical being. "This was the form I used to talk to them. They told me I smelled of dogs and also acted like one. Foxes are said to be cunning, but due to my environment growing up, I must've picked up traits that reminded them of the dogkin they despise. I know if I revealed my class I would've made them do a complete 180 regarding their attitude, but my impression of the foxkin became so bad I no longer wished to live among them."
"I seeā¦ And you tried seducing me because?"
My question sent a jolt to travel across Kitsara's spine as she visibly grimaced.
