Re: The Walking Dead [Zombie LitRPG]
Synopsis
Michael wakes up to the stink of rot and the wet sound of teeth on bone.
Yesterday—if there even is a yesterday anymore—he had everything: money in the bank, keys to too many cars, a bed he rarely slept in alone. No tragic backstory. No dead‑end job. No lonely nights with nothing but webnovels for company.
Now he opens his eyes inside a show he only meant to binge for a week.
The streets are the same, yet wrong in every detail: traffic frozen in place, windows smashed, sirens wailing somewhere he can’t see. And moving through it all are the walkers—grey, ruined bodies dragging themselves toward every breath, every careless clatter of metal, every whiff of living skin.
He knows them. He knows this world. He’s watched these scenes play out from the safety of his couch, counted the rules like a game: don’t make noise, don’t bleed where they can smell you, don’t trust anyone who smiles too easily.
So why is he the one dropped here?
He isn’t the usual sad sack protagonist the stories promised. He didn’t wish for a do‑over or pray to escape a miserable life. Survival comes almost too easily with all this second‑hand knowledge running in the back of his mind, system prompts and game‑like logic clicking neatly into place.
But every safe house he clears, every walker he puts down, just sharpens the one question he can’t loot an answer to: if this isn’t punishment and it isn’t a reward, then what is he being prepared for?
In a world that smells of blood and spoiled meat, where every choice feels like a move in someone else’s game, the real danger isn’t the dead pressing in from the dark—it’s the reason he was brought here at all, waiting to be revealed.
