Chapter 1: Difficult for me, Heaven?
âI have an 8 a.m. class.â
Midsummer, Jiangning City.
Inside an office building, after lunch, Lin Mo had just pushed open the company door when he saw a petite figure with hands on her waist, pointing at a man in his thirties and cursing loudly, the air full of gunpowder.
But when he saw who the two were, it felt perfectly reasonable.
The womanâs name was Yuan Meng, who had joined the company more than a year earlier than him, holding the position of an ordinary employee.
Opposite her was a middle-aged man named Dong Dawei, their department manager.
Normally, an ordinary employee wouldnât dare speak to a leader like this, but Miss Yuan Meng often held the sales champion title.
Not only that, it was said that her family background was quite good, and she only came to work as a way to pass time.
Of course, these were all things Lin Mo had heard during idle chatter.
Dong Dawei, however, was different.
His popularity among grassroots employees was quite bad, mainly because he often made things difficult for subordinates just to curry favor with higher-ups.
There was no way such a person could be well-liked.
As Lin Mo pushed open the door, the noise inside abruptly stopped, and everyone turned to look at him.
This situation, it had to be said, was indeed a bit awkward.
Just as Lin Mo froze in place, the door of the general managerâs office at the far end opened, followed by the somewhat angry voice of the general manager:
âDong Dawei, what are you doing, whatâs all this noise, get in here!â
Hearing this, Dong Dawei glared at Yuan Meng, then turned and walked toward the general managerâs office.
Yuan Meng, unwilling to back down, let out a âtch,â and even raised her middle finger.
Seeing the office door close, Lin Mo quickly walked over to Yuan Meng and asked:
âBig Sis Yuan, whatâs going on, did Fatty Dong pull another trick?â
Lin Mo himself was just an intern, not yet graduated, here only to get his internship certificate.
Because he looked delicate, with a pair of clear yet foolish eyes, and also had a good personality, his relationships with most colleagues were decent.
âWhat else could it be, you know about the company team-building this weekend, right?â
Seeing him come over, Yuan Meng took a deep breath and asked.
âOf course, didnât they notify us three days ago?â Lin Mo replied.
Hearing this, Yuan Meng sneered and said:
âThey changed the notice last minute. From voluntary participation, itâs now mandatory. And the self-funded cost was raised from 200 yuan to 500 per person. Pah, have they gone mad for money?â
At this, Lin Moâs eyes widened.
Originally, having to self-fund a weekend team-building was already much criticized, and he hadnât planned on joining anyway.
But now, not only was it mandatory, the cost had also increasedâwho could stand that?
âHuh? They can even do that?â Lin Mo frowned.
Before Yuan Meng could reply, a plump, pale face popped in and said:
âPretty much. Latest newsâI heard higher-ups from the head office might be visiting soon, and our leaders have to host them. Someone said it was Fatty Dong who suggested increasing the team-building budget, so the leftover money could be used to entertain the higher-ups and curry favor.â
The speaker was named Zhang Wei, the companyâs well-known gossip, and a huge lover of rumors.
âWhere did you hear this from again?â Lin Mo asked.
âI heard someone was taking a dump during lunch break and overheard it in the restroom.â
Lin Mo: ...
Sure enough, gossip, and well, the urinary tract did count as a âsmall channel.â
While the three whispered among themselves, other employees returning to the office also began quietly discussing, their complaints filling the air.
Just then, the general managerâs office door opened, and out came a woman in black stockings and high heelsâthe general managerâs secretary.
âSales departmentâs Yuan Meng, the general manager wants to see you.â
Hearing this, everyoneâs gaze shifted to the petite Miss Yuan.
There was no need to guessâit was certainly about just now.
With the sales champion openly protesting, even cursing at the department manager, this matter had to be resolved, or else the company could forget about the team-building.
After all, Yuan Meng was also somewhat of a celebrity in the company.
âBig Sis Yuan, they mean business!â Lin Mo raised an eyebrow and whispered with a smile.
Yuan Meng sneered:
âYou think your Big Sis Yuan would be scared of him?â
To this, Lin Mo shook his head quickly:
âNo no no, what I mean is, Big Sis Yuan, youâve brought in several huge orders as our sales champion. Youâve seen all kinds of big scenes, so letâs not lose face now!â
At this, Zhang Wei also pushed his plump face in and said:
âYeah, keep your spirits up!â
Hearing this, Yuan Meng glanced at the two, took a deep breath, flicked her thick braided ponytail over her shoulder, gave a shake of her right hand, and said:
âTOM.â
Then, stepping with her short legs, she followed the secretary in black stockings.
Along the way, every time she passed a colleague, she drew their stares.
Quite a few even raised their thumbs, as if saying, âWell done, Big Sis Yuan.â
As Yuan Meng entered the general managerâs office, before the door even closed, her angry yet delicate voice rang out:
âFatty Dong, f\*\*\*...â
With a sharp âbang,â the door was shut.
Even without hearing the rest, everyone already knew what was happening inside.
Lin Mo and Zhang Wei exchanged glances and simultaneously gave a thumbs-up.
âBig Sis Yuan is awesome.â \*2
With the afternoon work hours starting, everyone returned to their desks.
Sitting in front of the computer, Lin Mo quickly put on a mask of pain.
He majored in computer science, essentially a programmer-in-training.
He didnât know any advanced techniques, only the basics, so he could only handle simple tasks.
Luckily, the veteran Old Wang told him it was normal not to know.
âLearn as you work, work as you learn!â
So, Lin Mo quickly opened his phone, tapped a link Old Wang had sent him, and began studying the instructional video.
Suddenly, his phone flashed a blue screen, startling him.
âDamn, donât tell me I caught a virus!â
He immediately activated the Chinese passive skillâslapping the phone twice.
Lo and behold, it worked.
Except a strange advertisement popup appeared on the screen.
Below were four products filling the entire screen:
Lin Mo: ...
With just one glance, Lin Mo rolled his eyes.
The popup had âcheap e-shoppingâ written all over itâno need to guess where it came from.
He slid the screen to exit, but suddenly froze.
The moment his finger touched the first item, the screen jumped to the payment page.
Very quickly, it showed he had paid fifty-one cents.
âDamn, password-free payment? When did I set that up?â
Seeing the successful payment page, Lin Mo wanted to cry.
He decided he would uninstall the app later.
Luckily, it wasnât much money, otherwise he wouldâve been heartbroken.
But soon, his eyes widened in shock.
On the screen, a programming tutorial began playing, a bald man speaking rapidly.
The magical thing was, as the man explained, Lin Mo actually felt like he understood.
It was as easy as a high schooler doing second-grade math.
In just ten minutes, he had already grasped the basics of programming.
After a long while, Lin Mo muttered in disbelief:
âCould it be Iâm actually a genius?â
âDifficult for me, Heaven?â
