Li Cheng looked around the house structure and exclaimed emotionally, as if he was a brainwashing advertisement in an elevator.

The room was deadly silent, with a bang, the paper door of the Japanese room that had been trying to lure Li Cheng opened forcefully, allowing Li Cheng to see clearly what was inside.

There was no drone indicator light; the so-called light source was actually a massive eyeball.

A huge, bloodless pale woman’s face was tightly pressed against the window, her expression resentful, staring intently at Li Cheng outside the door.

From the looks of it, she was the mistress of the Fujita Family, mercilessly slaughtered twenty-five years ago when her head was chopped off.

Li Cheng complimented, then propped himself up with his arms to stand, taking a rifle out from the backpack.

The massive woman’s face shattered the window glass, squeezed into the room, and flew towards Li Cheng.

He pulled the trigger, unleashing a barrage of fire.

The consecrated dense bullets hit her face, igniting trails of black smoke.

Though not fatal, the attack successfully slowed her down.

‘The Bluetooth sound came when I was about to search the bathroom, which means that something in this house didn’t want me to enter there.’

With this thought, Li Cheng kept up the suppressive fire and backed up to the bathroom door, kicking it open.

The not-so-spacious bathroom featured both a shower and a bathtub.

Next to the bathtub were two empty red gasoline barrels and a lighter; the tub itself was filled with opaque black water.

In the middle of the black water, the tip of a hat made of tin foil was visible.

Could it be…

Li Cheng ejected the ant needles and reached his hand into the black water, pulling out a living person.

Ishikawa Kenichi, the long-missing folklorist, was still alive, still wearing that tin foil coat, but his face and body bore severe burn marks, and he was unconscious.

Numerous speculations flashed through Li Cheng’s mind.

Was he trying to burn down the house with the gasoline barrels, failed, ended up burning himself, and then survived due to the time-stasis effect of the Fujita residence?

In a split second, not allowing Li Cheng time to ponder, the human face attacked again, and the corners of the room sprouted dense, black long hair, weaving into a dense network.

Clang!

Li Cheng took out a talisman and affixed it to the surface of the Mantis Arm Bone Blade, slashing through the hair with one hand, while dragging the unconscious Ishikawa Kenichi by the collar with the other, hopping out of the room through the shattered sliding door.

As soon as he landed, he saw the starlight, moonlight, and streetlamp lights return to normal.

Jingzhe Xiazi arrived in front of the residence gate, shouting, “Where’s Stack Soldier?”

“He’s still inside.”

Li Cheng handed over Ishikawa Kenichi to him, then turned his head and saw Stack Soldier inside the glass of the second-floor balcony.

He was holding a circular shield made of green data, barely fending off a ghost’s cleaver chops, retreating to a corner of the room.

“Use this!”

Jingzhe Xiazi hastily said, throwing a roll of tape and a spherical, heavy object into Li Cheng’s arms.

Li Cheng struggled to shift his gaze from that loaded note, understood Jingzhe Xiazi’s intent, and immediately stomped on the ground, grasping the eaves to climb up to the second floor, pulled the pin from the spherical bomb, and used tape to stick the bomb to the sliding door of the balcony.

Then he flipped onto the roof and silently counted three, two, one.

Boom!

The explosion, louder than the thunder rumbling through the clouds, sent the sliding glass door flying and nearly half of the house collapsed.

With dust filling the area, the ghost holding the cleaver vanished; Stack Soldier stood in the ruins, his face blackened, opening his mouth like a cartoon character to exhale a puff of black smoke.

“Cough, cough, what the hell is this?

How did a pebble fly into my mouth?”
