Chapter 6: Chapter 5: The Not-So-Bad DadBy the time Ye Yu arrived at the entrance of the village, Ye Qiu had already driven back to the thatched cottage at the other end of the village, where several aunties and Chen Wen were chatting while cleaning the house.

The thatched cottage was small, and had been tidied up neatly when they left, so it wasn't hard to manage. Ye Qiu also brought new bedding from the provincial city, which he laid out in just a few minutes.

This return was for Ye Xiaomei Ye Fang's wedding, there was a banquet to attend, and they didn't need to cook many meals. "Uncle, I mean, you don't have to bring me other toys, just exchange them for this car," Ye Yu said, failing to realize how ridiculous his request was, as if Ye Qiu had not heard him clearly and explaining again.

Before Ye Qiu and Chen Wen could respond, the aunties next to them couldn't hold back.

"Ye boy, this is not something you can play with."

"Do you know how expensive this car is? You can't just ask for it."

"Even a biological father wouldn't give such a thing to an eight-year-old to play."

The group of aunties chattered away, and Ye Yu's lips pursed tighter, fists clenching tight, roaring: "None of your business, meddlers, my uncle's belongings are mine."

This statement was absolutely shocking. Although these women were not very close to his mother Liu Ping, they would smile, greet and chat a bit when they met, but he didn't expect them to be cursed behind their backs like this.

Being besieged with criticisms by a bunch of people, Ye Yu was about to cry. How come what these people said was different from what his grandmother had told him?

However, thinking of how his uncle used to dote on him, he immediately stepped forward, crying for help: "Uncle, they are all wrong. Granny said you liked me the best, and I will be somebody in the future. You will even rely on me when you are old. Help me scold them; otherwise, I will ignore you when I achieve success."

The things he said, really shameless!

"Ye Yu." Ye Qiu was silent for a while, and finally spoke, "Although you are my nephew, this car was bought by your aunt, I cannot give it to you. Upon hearing these words, the aunts were utterly shocked. Chen Wen had not been lazy for a single day since she married into the Ye Family; it turned out Granny Ye never regarded her as one of their own.

Ye Qiu and Chen Wen's faces darkened, and even Manman was no longer the unaware child she once was.

"This is my mom, not an outsider. You are the outsider," Manman couldn't stand it, retorting in her baby voice, her thin voice not annoying at all.

"That's right, as Manman said, Aunt, Manman, and I are a family, no outsiders. You and your parents are a family on your own," Ye Qiu said with a stern face, word by word.

"My things are not to be dictated by your family. Go back, we will visit Granny later."

The aunts around looked at him sarcastically. Uncle didn't defend him, and Ye Yu couldn't take it anymore. His eyes reddened with rage, and he yelled at Ye Qiu, "Just you wait, when I make something of myself, I won't care about you! I'm going back to Granny, she will stand up for me!"

"Pfft, whether you will achieve anything is still uncertain. Who cares?"

"Exactly, this Ye kid was raised too proud and arrogant by Granny Ye and Liu Ping."

"Ye Qiu, don't get mad, what aunt said, your mom is just too biased."

"Thanks for everyone's kindness, we appreciate it. Household matters are complicated, and since it's getting late we need to visit the Old Lady soon, so we won't keep you any longer," Chen Wen also didn't say much, just exchanged polite pleasantries.

Watching the bitter smiles of Chen Wen and Ye Qiu, everyone nodded understandingly, shaking their heads as they went back home.

Every family has its issues, but the Ye Family's are just more prominent.

Ye Qiu and Chen Wen knew that when Ye Yu went back crying, their visit would turn into a tempest. But the couple wasn't afraid, they were no longer the couple who used to be bullied two years ago.

Moreover, regarding today's events, nobody could really fault them if they told the story.

The couple wasn't in a hurry, they took Manman back to their room, sorted their things, fed her some food and milk before leisurely heading towards Eldest Ye's house.

By this time, Eldest Ye's family had been waiting and waiting, their anger reaching its peak, just waiting for Ye Qiu's family to arrive to give them a piece of their mind.

Ye Yu was walking tall, backed by his granny and parents. His previous grievances and anger had turned into smugness. Hmph, even if Uncle and the rest would give him the car and all his toys and snacks, he wouldn't forgive them.
