Julia's brow furrowed. "Excuse me? What are you doing?"

"I'm pouring your mother a glass of wine," Leon replied smoothly, then without another word he turned to leave.

"What about the job? Does that mean you've accepted it?" Julia asked, her voice sharp.

"No… I'm fine with my current work," Leon answered over his shoulder, descending the stairs without a glance back.

"Fucking bastard… I'll ruin his family. I swear I'll get him under me," Julia hissed, her fingers digging into the table edge.

"Julia, calm yourself. A noblewoman shouldn't use such crude words," Paula scolded gently, sipping her wine with grace.

"Didn't you see that? He ignored me, poured you wine like I didn't exist… He wants to show me I'm nothing. I'll have him — if not as a butler, then as a slave. I'll speak to Father," Julia snapped, spinning on her shoes and storming downstairs.

"Madam Julia won't stop till she owns him, that's what she did with me. Let's see, how long you hold out... Leon Luster." Charles muttered with a smirk as he watched Leon's figure vanish into the dark.
