Chapter 24: Chapter 24: With a turn around, Gu Qichen is standing at the door

Gu Zhaohan had already come over and looked at Xia Yangyang, “What are you doing here?”

Xia Yangyang found the situation somewhat embarrassing, being caught attempting to climb the wall was hard to explain, “It’s a long story.”

The butler asked, “Young Master Han, do you know these two?”

Gu Zhaohan pointed at Xia Yangyang, “This is a friend of mine.”

Then he glanced at Gong Xue’er indifferently, “I don’t know her.”

The butler immediately understood and was much more polite to Xia Yangyang, “Since you are a friend of Young Master Han, he will take you in. But Miss, you don’t have any invitations; please leave, we will call the police if you try to climb in again.”

Gong Xue’er was “expelled”.

Standing outside Gu’s residence, Gong Xue’er was almost grinding her teeth in anger. She didn’t expect Xia Yangyang to have gotten acquainted with Gu Zhaohan.

The inside was as grand as a palace, but had nothing to do with her!

Gu Zhaohan glanced at Xia Yangyang’s arm, “You’re injured. Let me get you some medicine.”

Xia Yangyang looked down and saw a few scratches on her arm where she had been pierced by the thorns of the English roses in the courtyard when she jumped down.

“It’s okay, I should just leave,” Xia Yangyang said.

But Gu Zhaohan grabbed Xia Yangyang’s hand firmly, “Come with me.”

Just like that, Xia Yangyang was inexplicably led into the Gu Mansion.

Once inside the mansion, Xia Yangyang was astounded.

The mansion was huge, with the main hall on the ground floor feeling like a giant banquet hall. The fragrant aroma of dresses and hair permeated the air, champagne was piled high everywhere, and the chandelier lights poured down like tassels. The whole living room was full of guests, filled with jovial chatter and laughter.

Xia Yangyang looked around, full of awe.

The Xia family’s mansion was also big, but compared to this it was lacking. It truly felt like being in a palace, leaving her feeling dizzy and overwhelmed.

Gu Zhaohan led Xia Yangyang away from the crowd in the hall and took the elevator upstairs.

On the way up, Xia Yangyang asked tentatively, “Is Gu Qichen here today?”

Gu Zhaohan looked at Xia Yangyang, “Why, are you interested in the position of Mrs. Gu?”

Xia Yangyang hurriedly laughed it off, “No, I was just curious. Everyone outside is saying that there’s a matchmaking event for Gu Qichen today; I just wanted to see who he would choose in the end?”

Gu Zhaohan responded coldly, “He wouldn’t choose any of them, he’s already got someone in his heart. For many years now.”

Upon hearing this, Xia Yangyang felt as if her heart had been pierced.

Did Gu Qichen already have someone he likes?

Then why did he marry her?

Gu Zhaohan brought Xia Yangyang to the door of a room and said, “Wait in here for a while, I’m going to find you a change of clothes. There are many guests in the garden today, but it’s quiet in here and no one will come in.”

Xia Yangyang nodded, “Thank you.”

Gu Zhaohan left.

Xia Yangyang entered the room.

The room appeared to be a bedroom; it was simply furnished, but the design was meticulous. The black, white, and grey color scheme very much matched Gu Qichen’s style.

One side of the room was a large floor-to-ceiling window. From the edge of the bed, one could see the lively scene in the hall downstairs.

Indeed, many socialites had gathered, each trying to outshine the other.

Xia Yangyang spotted a few familiar faces–Lin Yuanyuan, Kim Fei’er, and even her father and Xia Weiwei.

Xia Yangyang suddenly regretted it, she shouldn’t have come in. Plus, she wasn’t very familiar with Gu Zhaohan.

In a foreign room, Xia Yangyang didn’t dare to move around.

She just stood by the bed, looking outside.

Soon, she heard a noise at the door.

Xia Yangyang thought Gu Zhaohan was back and turned around, but surprisingly, she found Gu Qichen standing at the door!
