Chapter 48 of "Can I Join You?" begins revealing exciting developments: “I figured we can get some hard seltzers for us to sip on while we... Don’t stop now!

“I figured we can get some hard seltzers for us to sip on while we chill,” she suggested.

When we got to Rouge, we sat in the car, listening to music, and sipped our drinks. After about an hour, we decided to head to Belle Isle. The bridge to get on the island was packed, and it took us about twenty minutes just to get across it. Nazuri parked, turning her car off, and opened her door.

“Bitch, what you doing? We getting out the car?” I asked, looking over at her.

“Yeah, come on. Let’s take a walk. The breeze is nice, and I don’t want to just sit in the car.”

I nodded, grabbing my purse, before getting out the car. We began walking up a path, and I saw two older women sitting on a bench, holding long stem roses. One smiled at me as I got closer, and I smiled back.

“You are so beautiful,” she complimented.

“Aww, thank you,” I replied.

The woman then lifted her hand, holding out the rose for me to take. I tried to refuse, but when she insisted, I took it. I was just about to walk off when the woman she was sitting next to handed me her rose as well.

“Aww, they are so sweet. You want one of these roses?” I asked, looking over at Nazuri.

“Nah, you keep them. Those women gave them to you, not me.”

We walked a few more feet until we came to a small group of about six people standing in a circle. When they turned around, I saw that all six of them held a single rose in their hand. They held them out, all telling me that I was beautiful, before handing me the roses.

“Girl, what is this? Why are random people just handing me roses?”

“I don’t know, sis. Maybe they have something going on today that we don’t know about.” Nazuri shrugged.

We continued walking until we got to a path that Nazuri suggested we walk. We had only walked a few feet of the path when I noticed that it was lined with people holding a single rose. It wasn’t until then that I knew exactly what this was. I turned to look at Nazuri, tears already forming in my eyes.

“Bitch,” I spoke, placing my hand over my mouth.

“Let’s walk this path so you can get yo’ flowers, sis.”

We walked, and I took flower after flower. The closer we got to the end, the more I began to recognize the people. There was a few people from Blackline, telling me I was beautiful before handing me a rose. Then, I saw Crue and Kadeem’s parents standing there, holding roses as well. The tears were streaming down my cheek at this point, and my arm was full of roses. I took the roses from them before hugging each of them. When I tuned back to Nazuri, she was now holding a rose as well.

“You’re beautiful, bestie. And you deserve all the happiness that comes your way. I love you, girl.”

“I love you too,” I replied, doing my best to hug her with an armful of roses.

One of the Blackline employees walked up to me and took the roses from my hand before both Crue and Kadeem appeared. They were both dressed in red Gucci two-piece sets. They both took my hands and kissed me on my cheeks, wiping my tears with their lips. Kadeem spoke first, neither of them letting go of my hand.

“Baby, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me. You came into my life and changed it for the better, and I can’t ask for anything more. You were like the missing puzzle piece, and now that you’re here, I feel complete. I could say that this is love, but to me, love is not a strong enough word for what I feel for you. I adore you, baby, and I want to spend the rest of my life showing you just that.” He kissed my cheek once more before allowing Crue to speak next.

“You know what this is, just like I know what this is. I don’t have no speech. You know I ain’t good at that shit anyway. But baby, I love you so much, and it’s nothing that I wouldn’t do to make you happy. I really couldn’t ask for a better woman, and I’m so glad that you’re mine.”

Before I could say anything, they both pulled a ring box from their pockets and got down on one knee. My hands were shaking, and tears were falling as I smiled from ear to ear. When I woke up this morning, I would have never thought this would be happening, yet here I was. There was nothing I wanted more than to spend my life with them both. So, when they asked the question, I couldn’t get the yes out fast enough. They both placed the beautiful princess cut diamond rings onto my finger before hugging and kissing me. I had never been happier. Out of all the relationships I had in the past, I had never been loved correctly until now. All my dreams were coming true, and all I had to do to make that happen was join them.

The End
