Chapter 14 - Going Crazy

Su Mo’s gaze rapidly swept over his surroundings as his mind raced.

If he wasn’t mistaken, the city he was in must be a second or third-tier city.

The detailed map of the entire area appeared in his mind without any dead angles, and he swiftly calculated all feasible plans.

In the end, he grabbed Lan Xi’s hand and ran back, soon running into a group of zombies as expected.

If it had been someone else, they would have thought Su Mo had gone mad, but Lan Xi wasn’t stupid; she wouldn’t believe that Su Mo would so easily seek death.

Sure enough, Su Mo suddenly accelerated, vaulted towards the wall of the left alley, climbed up with his hands, and flipped over, then stretched out his hand to Lan Xi.

Lan Xi quickly reached out her hand.

Su Mo promptly pulled her up, and then the two of them jumped down, entering another alley as he led Lan Xi in a frantic run, winding through the area.

Lan Xi was dizzy from the circling, but fortunately, they didn’t encounter too many monsters on the road.

Just then, Su Mo led Lan Xi to the back door of a building, which was ajar.

“Go in.”

“What is this place?”

Lan Xi asked curiously.

“The back door of the security company.

I had explored it with a drone before; the back door isn’t closed.”

Su Mo cautiously walked in.

It might not be safe inside, but they might find the equipment they were looking for.

The entire security company was eerily quiet, with documents scattered all over the floor.

The interior of the building was simply furnished without much decoration, but every certain distance along the corridor, there was a protective isolation door, and the walls all around were thickened.

Additionally, most of the rooms were tightly closed.

Su Mo tried to open them, but all attempts were futile.

Moreover, all these doors were reinforced protective doors, which couldn’t be opened without the corresponding keys.

“It seems there’s nothing much.”

Lan Xi said somewhat disappointedly.

“There are things, but they’re all in specific rooms.

We need to find the keys.”

Su Mo replied very calmly.

A moment later, they turned up two bulletproof vests, two riot batons, and two pairs of gloves and helmets.

“There shouldn’t be any guns here, right?”

“Guns?

Of course, they’d be in a special storage room.

They can’t just be tossed around like random items.”

As Su Mo spoke, he began taking off his jacket.

“Wait, what are you doing?”

Lan Xi asked, looking puzzled.

“Changing gear.

You wouldn’t seriously think that in this ‘game’, you just swap gear like that, right?

Hurry up and change.

Having a bulletproof vest is better than none.”

“…You go ahead; I’ll change later.”

Lan Xi responded with a slightly awkward expression.

Su Mo quickly got the hint, changed into his bulletproof vest, and stepped out.

Lan Xi closed the door behind her and then began to change inside.

Su Mo stood outside waiting.

After a while, seeing that Lan Xi hadn’t come out, he frowned slightly.

“Are you done yet?”

“It’s almost there, a bit too tight, it won’t fasten, give me a moment.”

Su Mo frowned slightly.

It’s really troublesome, is it that hard to put on a vest?

“Let’s go.”

Su Mo didn’t say much more and walked back, prepared to try the keys in the doors one by one.

This security company building had four floors, each with six rooms, most of which were locked.

More than twenty rooms were not easy to try.

Lan Xi followed behind Su Mo, and as she watched Su Mo search earnestly, she asked, “By the way, I still don’t know your name.

You probably don’t know mine either, shall we get to know each other a bit?”

“You’re called Lan Xi.”

“Your former teammates were shouting it so loudly that even a fool would know your name.”

“Then what’s your name?”

We are only together temporarily.

Lan Xi said this and her expression turned somber, but she quickly regained her spirits.

Su Mo glanced at Lan Xi and sighed deeply in response.

“We are not the same, I haven’t been betrayed by anyone.”

“You’re lying.

If you weren’t, why would you resist me like this?”

Who can guarantee you won’t seek revenge for them?”

Lan Xi hastily explained.

Su Mo replied without a second thought.

Lan Xi got so frustrated upon hearing this that she stomped her foot, wondering about this unreasonable logic.
