Standing in front of the auction house, Pandora looked, wide-eyed, at the unfortunate man next door and then turned to Richard.“Do you want to go take a look?” Richard asked, then added, “Go ahead, but don’t hit anyone and don’t scare them.”

“Um.” Pandora voiced, and the next moment, she let go of Richard’s hand and curiously walked over to stand in front of the unfortunate man.

The man in the corner looked up at Pandora, his eyes still lifeless as he spoke like a wooden puppet: “They’re all dead, all dead…”

“Scary?”

“They’re all dead, all dead…”

“Scary—”

“They’re all dead, all dead…”

Pandora tilted her head and watched the unfortunate man for a while and then walked back with a strange expression, walked up to Richard, tilted her head in thought for a moment, and then reached out her hand.

“Do you want to help him?” Richard seemed to understand Pandora’s intention.

“Mmm.” Pandora nodded.

“Alright then.” Richard said, pulling out a Gold Coin and placing it in Pandora’s hand, “Give this to him, it might help him survive a little better.”

Pandora frowned slightly, looking at the lonely Gold Coin in her palm, somewhat dissatisfied with how little it was.

Richard explained, “It’s not too little, a Gold Coin is enough for him to live for quite a long time, assuming he wants to survive of course. Also, one Gold Coin is about the limit. If it were more, it wouldn’t be assistance, but a disaster—given his current state, having too much money would only attract others’ greed, and he might even be robbed.”

“Um…” Pandora, not quite understanding, nodded, picked up the Gold Coin, and walked again toward the unfortunate man.

He was still repeating, “They’re all dead, all dead…”

Pandora, unfazed, grabbed the man’s hand and stuffed the Gold Coin into his palm, then helped him close his hand.

The unfortunate man maintained this pose, continuing to say, “They’re all dead, all dead…”

Pandora prepared to leave, but as she turned, something else seemed to occur to her. Her eyes flashed; she looked at the man and then reached out toward his head.

The unfortunate man was sitting on the ground, and Pandora’s height was just right.

Pandora’s hand reached his head and she messed up his tousled hair a bit, then gave a gentle pat. Having done this, Pandora turned and left. To her, this must have seemed like the best way to console and encourage the unfortunate man, but she was too lazy to seriously consider whether that was really the case.

However, treated like this by Pandora, the unfortunate man clearly froze for a moment, the continuous sound in his mouth stopping momentarily: “They’re all dead, they—”

The unfortunate man turned his head, looking subconsciously towards Pandora, while she had already walked back to Richard’s side and entered the auction house with him.

The unfortunate man watched as Richard, Pandora, and Gro disappeared from sight, then looked down at the Gold Coin in his hand and clenched it tightly, his whole body trembling. In that moment, he felt a stabbing pain in his brain, a dry throat, and an overwhelming exhaustion. His consciousness had cleared, but that only made him feel worse.

They were really all dead—Uncle Duncan, Hart, Bill had all perished, and now he was the only one left; he couldn’t even return to “Newcastle.” Even if he could return, how could he face Uncle Duncan’s daughter, Melissa? What should he do?

The unfortunate man clenched his fist and, in the next moment, due to exerting too much force, the Gold Coin flew out of his hand, tracing an arc in mid-air, and landed on the ground, then quickly rolled away.

The unfortunate man froze, his gaze following the Gold Coin into the distance…

“Snap!”

The unfortunate man saw a pair of black boots step on the Gold Coin, pinning it underfoot. Looking up along the boots, he saw they belonged to a middle-aged man dressed in a Black Robe, with a pretty girl, also in a Black Robe, and with a ponytail by his side.

The unfortunate man glanced at the two people and, for some reason, a great fear suddenly surged in his heart—like someone squeezing his heart—causing him to remain seated, not daring to move.

The middle-aged man in the Black Robe’s eyes flickered, and he shifted his foot slightly to the side, revealing the Gold Coin under his foot.

A hand stretched out from the Black Robe, one finger moved, and with a “whoosh,” the Gold Coin spun into the air and hovered in mid-air.

This!

The unlucky guy’s eyes bulged as he suddenly realized that the person before him might be the legendary wizard.

At that moment, his heart was in turmoil.

He hated wizards because if it weren’t for something related to the wizards called the “Examination Exemption Certificate,” the entire Merchant Group wouldn’t have met with disaster, and Uncle Duncan and the others wouldn’t have died. Although it wasn’t really the wizards’ fault, he still hated them.

At the same time, he was afraid of wizards, especially the two standing before him. He had heard that wizards were ruthless killers; perhaps he had already angered them for some reason and they would kill him in the next moment?

Lastly, he felt a bit of envy towards wizards. If he had the magical abilities of a wizard, he could have protected the entire Merchant Group the previous night. Unfortunately, he did not…

The unlucky guy was thinking all this in his confused heart when the two wizards hardly gave him a second glance, just sweeping their eyes over him. Then, the middle-aged wizard waved his hand, and the Gold Coin floating and spinning in mid-air flew towards him as the two wizards turned and walked away.

Muffled conversation drifted over.

“Mr. Siv, where are we heading now?”

“Let’s just look around, I didn’t expect Hua’er to actually have an incident, it seems that Cuijin City’s targeting of our White Stone Tower folk isn’t simple. I hope we could find some clues about the mastermind, but… the hopes are slim. However, we have to look…”

“Uh.”

“Whizz whizz whizz…”

The Gold Coin spun towards the unlucky guy, speeding up. His eyes widened in danger and just as the coin was about to reach him, he couldn’t help stretching out a hand to block it. A vague thought flashed through his mind: “Don’t.”

“Swish!”

In a flash, the unlucky guy felt something being pulled out of his body, and before the Gold Coin hit his hand, whatever was pulled out collided with the coin first.

With a “bang,” the Gold Coin changed direction and flew out, while the unlucky guy watched wide-eyed as it shot towards the middle-aged wizard’s back.

The unlucky guy was terrified and afraid.

“Whizz whizz whizz,” the Gold Coin flew out faster than it had flown towards him, quickly reaching a few meters behind the middle-aged wizard, and it looked like it was about to hit him.

But the middle-aged wizard, as if he had eyes on the back of his head, suddenly turned around, reached out a hand, and deftly pinched the Gold Coin between two fingers, his gaze sharply turning toward the unlucky guy.

The unlucky guy, eyes wide, looked at the middle-aged wizard, wanting to explain something, but as he opened his mouth, he suddenly felt an intolerable nausea rise within him, uncontrollably turning his head to vomit loudly.

“Ugh—”

“Ugh—”

The girl beside the middle-aged wizard frowned slightly, showing some disgust.

But the middle-aged wizard’s eyes flickered, muttering, “It’s a surprise to encounter someone with decent talent who could awaken by themselves in this barren land.”

“Mr. Siv, then…” the girl beside the middle-aged wizard started to say something but was stopped by the middle-aged wizard raising his hand.

“Tap tap tap…” Siv took steps closer to the unlucky guy.

By then, the unlucky guy had finished vomiting, his body emitting a foul odor, somewhat fearfully meeting the eyes of the middle-aged wizard.

The middle-aged wizard spoke, his voice seemingly emotionless, “Kid, there’s a place in this world called White Stone Tower, and a people known as wizards. Now, you have a choice. You can follow me to White Stone Tower and become a wizard. Do you… want that?”

“I…” The unlucky guy blinked, and somewhat as if possessed, he nodded.

“Very well.” The middle-aged wizard spoke, then turned to the girl beside him, “Demi, clean him up.”

“Uh, yes, teacher.” The girl looked at the unlucky guy’s condition with slight displeasure but didn’t dare disobey the order. Her lips moved, and she raised her hand as several spells fell upon the unlucky guy. The foul odor on the unlucky guy was immediately cleansed away, and his body warmed up, feeling a bit energized as he slowly stood up.

The middle-aged wizard looked at the unlucky guy sternly and asked, “What is your name?”

“I…” The unlucky guy pursed his lips, steadied his spirit, took a deep breath, and seriously said, “Martin Luther King.”
