Chapter 94 - What I've Seen
Chapter 94 of "Red Heart Patrols the Sky" opens presenting: Due to the limited space and Bai Lianâs presence, it was inconvenient to practice the... Donât stop now!
Due to the limited space and Bai Lianâs presence, it was inconvenient to practice the Four Spirits Body Refinement Technique. After completing the Meridian Rush Practice, Jiang Wang began to cultivate the Control Yuan Technique.
Inside the Tongtian Palace, he moved Path Origin around, forming the character for âpeaceâ and then the character for âhope,â never tiring of the exercise.
He didnât know how long it had been when faint human voices reached his ears.
Jiang Wang came out of his meditative state and turned to look at Bai Lian.
Bai Lian gave him a quiet look.
The voices drew closer.
âDamn it!
Doing this boring stuff every day.
I didnât join the Procuratorate to become a hunter,â one voice said.
Another voice urged, âSay less.â
The first voice replied, âHeâs not here, whatâs there to be afraid of?â
Despite saying this, his voice was noticeably quieter.
Jiang Wangâs heart stirred.
What did he mean by âhunterâ?
Were they here to hunt Fierce Beasts?
But there seemed to be no sound of battle.
Previously, Zhao Rucheng had said that someone on Jade Balance Peak stopped Dou Yuemei from lifting the mountain.
Is that person not present now?
The ProcuratorateâŚ
the people on Jade Balance Peak, indeed belong to Zhuang Ting.
The Fierce Beasts ravaging the Three Mountains Region, truly related to Zhuang Ting!
His mind was a whirl of thoughts as the two voices approached, apparently heading up the mountain.
Jiang Wang stayed motionless and silent, following Bai Lianâs lead, still unsure of what they were meant to do.
But the secrets of Jade Balance Peak and Zhuang Ting compelled him to dwell on them a bit more.
The footsteps halted outside the cave, and two haggard-looking Cultivators appeared within sight.
One was exceptionally tall, the other had a full beard.
Both were holding a birdcage-like object, and they both looked at Jiang Wang and his companion.
They were stunned, and so was Jiang Wang.
âTheyâve seen us!â Jiang Wang said.
âIsnât that obvious?â Bai Lian replied.
âDidnât we set up an Array Plate?â
âOh.
That Array Plate.
It was just too heavy in my pocket, I just put it there casually.â
Jiang Wang suppressed his emotions, barely drawing his sword to rise when Bai Lian had already floated out of the cave.
Now, free from the wrap of beast skin, her exquisite figure could not be hidden.
As she was in the air, she indeed became part of a beautiful scene.
She stretched out her hands and lightly pressed them on the foreheads of the two Cultivators.
In fact, the two Cultivators had reacted instantly, but their Dao Technique crumbled before taking shape.
It seemed as though they shouted something, but their voices were silenced by some force.
The two Cultivators fell softly to the ground, and Bai Lian bent down to pick up the two cages.
âDid you kill them?â Jiang Wang asked.
If he hadnât misheard, these two Cultivators were from the Department of Penalty.
In a way, they were one of the Transcendent forces maintaining the stability of Zhuang Country.
Killing them was definitely not something Jiang Wang wanted to see.
âTheyâve just fainted, thatâs all.
How could I be so foolish?â Bai Lian said teasingly: âWhat if you start to dislike me?â
Jiang Wang really couldnât cope with these subtle provocations and simply asked, âWhat do we do next?â
Bai Lian, holding the cages in her hands, walked back nimbly.
She handed one of the cages to Jiang Wang, âTake a look, whatâs this?â
Inside the cage, there were countlessly many miniature beasts.
Upon closer inspection, each one was moving, not dead objects.
âWhat is this?â Jiang Wang didnât hide his limited knowledge as a youth from a small town.
It wasnât that he wasnât trying, but he wasnât like those born into privilege who naturally lived amidst beautiful scenery.
And there was nothing to regret or pity about it, for he was already on the path to seeing the scenery.
âBeast cages!â Bai Lian shook the cage, and the wild beasts inside became frantic, scurrying back and forth.
âJust like a storage box, only whatâs contained inside are living wild beasts?â
Storage boxes were extremely rare objects, legendary even.
Although Jiang Wang had never owned one, he had heard of them countless times.
The wonder of storing myriad things in a single box had always filled him with longing.
Bai Lian nodded and raised her hand, saying, âCarry them.â
Jiang Wang took the two beast cages and examined them closely.
He asked, âWhy are people from the Procuratorate here?
What do they need so many wild beasts for?â
Instead of answering, Bai Lian started walking towards the interior of the cave.
âWait, isnât the mountain spider sleeping inside?â asked Jiang Wang.
Bai Lian turned around, cocked her head, and looked at Jiang Wang.
âWhy would the mountain spider be sleeping inside?â
âDidnât you say⌠this is the mountain spiderâs lair?â
âAm I to be taken at my word?â snorted Bai Lian as she turned away, âSo gullible, be careful or some enchantress will swallow you whole, bones and all.â
Jiang Wang: ââŚâ
He wasnât foolish, it was just that Bai Lian was his lifesaver, and had always shown kindness; he had no reason to doubt her.
Especially over something so trivial.
So much so that when he saw two cultivators from the Procuratorate head towards this cave, he didnât entertain any other thoughts.
Walking further into the cave, Bai Lian took out an ever-bright lantern, made a slight manipulation, and had it float and follow them.
The incredibly spacious interior of the mountain cave was now laid out before Jiang Wangâs eyes.
There were few man-made marks here, just many interlaced cave openings leading to unknown depths, like a labyrinth.
Bai Lian, however, knew her way around and entered one of the cave openings without hesitation.
After much zigzagging and a long walk, the space suddenly opened up!
They were in a vast valley that stretched as far as the eye could see.
The valley was dotted with trees, rocks, flowers, and grass, but the scene didnât give off a sense of beauty and tranquility.
Instead, it made oneâs mood gloomy, with an irritating sense of restlessness.
Many caves were suspended on both sides of the valley walls; Jiang Wang and Bai Lian were in one of them.
Jiang Wang thought that perhaps many of the earlier caves could lead to this valley.
âOpen the beast cages and pour them down,â Bai Lian said.
âOkay.â
Jiang Wang had already studied how to do it, and now he set down the beast cage in his right hand, lifted the one in his left, aimed the cage door at the valley below, and opened it.
âRoar!
Hiss!
Screech!
Squeak!â
Countless roars echoed in his ears as a tide of wild beasts poured out from the cage.
In the moment they surged forth, they returned to their normal size and then fell one after another into the valley below.
These were all ordinary wild beasts, including lions, tigers, bears, and leopards, as well as birds, sparrows, foxes, and rabbits.
Some were docile by nature, others were ferociously brutal, but all were within the normal range.
But when they fell into the valley, something horrific happened.
Their eyes were the first to change, turning blood-red almost instantly.
Rabbits grew vicious fangs, and little sparrows had claws like knives⌠Some ballooned in size, others sprouted sharp horns.
Jiang Wang witnessed it with his own eyes.
These wild beastsâŚ
were transforming into fierce beasts!
Those irrational fierce beasts, those brutal, ferocious, nightmare creatures.
Those that had nearly brought Zhuang Countryâs Three Mountain Realm to its knees and also wreaked havoc in its various counties.
They⌠had actually transformed from ordinary wild beasts!
Caught by the Procuratorateâs people and undergoing their transformation in this valley.
This was a tremendous secret and an even more cruel truth.
