Haell’s first clear thought is simple and stubborn: becoming a demon would fix everything.

Her second thought arrives after her death.

On the far side of that ending waits a new beginning—a world ruled from above by radiant, merciless Angelic Overlords and policed by their obedient, shepherding servants. The skies burn with halos. The ground crawls with monsters and strange, thinking beings that never once bothered to look human. Magic seeps from bone and blood. Flesh twists into Mutations. Power has a taste here, coppery and addictive.

Reborn small, fragile, and very much human, Haell should be afraid. Instead, she’s delighted. The mana patterns in the air make her eyes shine. She hoards spells like other children hoard toys. Every bruise from training is proof she’s one step closer to the thing she’s always wanted to be.

She does not walk this path alone. In a world where parents usually bury children early and move on, Haell’s new mother and father wrap her in ridiculous, stubborn love. They bandage the knuckles she’s split on practice dummies. They smile through the terror of watching their child chase damnation with both hands out.

Years jump forward in surges of growth, study, and violence. Curses settle on her tongue as easily as lullabies once did. Berserker fury hums beneath her skin. The Angels above do not yet know her name.

By the time they look down, the little human who refused to stay human will be ready to meet their light with claws, curses, and a smile sharp enough to draw blood.

She will not stop at the edge of monstrosity. She intends to live there.
