Chapter 407: Amazing Oriana"Are you calling us fake, Your Highness?" one of the cousins asked.
Oriana replied, "You should ask yourselves what you are."
"So, Your Highness, are you suggesting that you enjoyed life in the wilderness and do not appreciate the luxury you now have as the Crown Princess in the palace?" another one asked, sounding confident in their counterargument. "You, dressed in these lavish clothes and adorned with jewellery, having servants at your beck and call, enjoying the same luxuries as us â doesnât this signify your attempt to become one of us?"
Oriana let out a small laugh, her tone mocking, "It seems that while receiving noble education, youâre lacking in basic logical abilities." She chuckled before continuing, "I certainly relished my free life in the wilderness, but that doesnât mean Iâm saying I donât enjoy the luxury as the Crown Princess. All I was talking about was being genuine. If Iâm rude to you, I donât have to pretend otherwise and hide it behind noble behavior. Iâm openly rude to you, and I admit it. I cannot be fake like you, and I can also enjoy the luxury of being the Crown Princess. Do you dare to punish me?"
No one dared say a word.
Orianaâs gaze turned colder as she continued, "Just to remind you, as the Crown Princess, I also have the luxury of putting rude individuals in their place, stomp on their rudeness and I wouldnât hesitate to use that privilege. I might lack the knowledge of nobility, but I am well-versed in the art of holding grudges and ensuring that those who offend me pay the price."
At that moment, a collective chill seemed to run down their spines as they heard her words.
The coldness in Orianaâs eyes suddenly vanished, and she chuckled playfully, "What ever made you think I wouldnât relish luxury? Only a fool would turn down such a life. Iâm wholeheartedly embracing the lifestyle of the wealthy," she inhaled with a relaxed air, "Ah, it certainly feels wonderful to have power. Look at all of you now. Iâm openly offending you, without a facade, and yet thereâs nothing you can do about it."
As Oriana delivered her bold statement, those audacious cousins couldnât help but shiver. They had seriously underestimated her. They had assumed she was just an ordinary and gullible villager, someone they could toy with and insult, but they had it all wrong.
Ana, who had previously felt sad and concerned for her mistress after hearing the rude remarks from these nobles, suddenly had her spirits lifted and couldnât help but smile.
âMy Master is amazing. No one can beat her.â
Arthur sported a wide grin, remarking, "She didnât disappoint me."
Arlan, however, frowned and cautioned, "You have no right to expect anything from her. Donât even think about it."
But Oriana wasnât finished yet. She delicately traced the edge of her veil and added, "As for this veil, I wear it so my dazzling beauty wonât blind individuals like you. Trust me, I am far more beautiful than you can possibly imagine. Probably a kind of beauty youâve never witnessed before."
Everyone looked at her in shock. What kind of woman would praise herself so boldly, without a trace of hesitation? Instead, her confidence and self-assuredness seemed to suit her so well that it didnât come across as odd; it was almost tempting to believe in her confidence.
Ana and Arthur struggled to contain their laughter, while Evie suppressed her smile, not wanting to upset her cousins but secretly feeling pleased.
"It appears Iâve addressed all your concerns about me. Iâll take my leave now," Oriana said, turning to go. But then she paused and added, "Oh, but I nearly forgot to address one more of your concerns."
Everyone fell silent, curious about what shocking revelation she might unveil next.
"Iâm the one who injured your Crown Prince," she declared with an almost proud tone.
As anticipated, everyone was left utterly shocked.
Oriana continued, "He was getting excessively passionate with me, so I had to put him in his place with a little discipline," she explained with a serious expression. Even though her entire face was not visible behind the veil, her eyes exuded unwavering confidence.
Everyone was stunned, utterly speechless. Was this woman audacious enough to harm the Crown Prince, or was she simply shameless in divulging such information between them?
"As you people looked so worried about his injury, I will suggest you to mind your own business. He is a man who fights on battle field so such minor injuries from his wife would not affect him. You might see him hurt like this often."
All eyes turned to Arlan. Although he had kept his distance, he could hear everything clearly. Arlan turned and walked away without reacting, and Arthur followed him, barely holding back his laughter.
"Everything is now clear. I shall take a leave." Oriana remarked before leaving, with Ana trailing behind her with wide grin on her face.
Arthur, who had followed Arlan, finally ceased his laughter as they distanced themselves. Arlan couldnât hide his annoyance, saying, "Enough!"
Stopping his laughter, Arthur commented, "So, it was the tigress who got the best of you, and she even mentioned that you might experience such âpassionateâ encounters frequently. It looks like youâre in for some fiery nights ahead."
"Shut up!" Arlan retorted.
But Arthur paid no mind to Arlanâs irritation and added, "I wish Nathan were here to witness this."
Ana, who had followed Oriana to the lakeshore, couldnât help but offer praise. "Your Highness, you were truly remarkable just now."
"Do you think so?"
"Absolutely, Your Highness."
"Good," Oriana responded, "One should always strive to be exceptional, regardless of where they stand or what they face."
She stood in silence by the lakeside, gazing at the clear and tranquil water. âThis lake is undeniably beautiful and peaceful.â
Meanwhile, an elderly woman in the gazebo observed her from a distance and remarked, "Her eyes resemble her motherâs, donât they?"
Arthurâs mother nodded in agreement, "Yes, Mother. She must be as beautiful as her mother as well."
"Thatâs true. After all, the women of the Verner family were renowned for their exceptional beauty."
