Chapter 157: 65. Water Flow"We are from the Third Street Centipede Party," he warned. "Donāt stick your nose where it doesnāt belong. This is between us and that woman; if you yap any more, Iāll..."
Before he could finish, Fisher raised his left hand and delivered a fierce smack to his face. The enormous force spread from his face to his body, spinning him midair before he crashed to the ground, several teeth escaping the confines of his gums and flying far with the blood. He lay sprawled on the ground, seeing stars and hearing ringing in his ears, still not realizing what had happened.
The young toughs behind him turned pale as they looked towards Fisher with a slight chill in his demeanor, clearly frightened.
Fisher had seen it all before; these young kids were not really gang members. He had come to recognize the gangs of Nali when he assisted the police with cases at the station.
These kids didnāt understand anything; they were just clumsily adopting the survival ways of the gangs, given their youth.
Even if Fisher hadnāt intervened, it probably wouldnāt have been long before the real gang came to clean up these brats causing trouble.
"Listen up," Fisher said. "Meg has nothing to do with that deadbeat who overdosed and ran away. Thereās a debtor for every debt, and if you dare come around causing trouble again, Iāll dismember you and sell your limbs as pig feed on a farm."
"Get lost, you bastard... run!"
As Fisher finished his sentence, those youngsters showed no signs of reflection, merely turning their heads in panic and running, not even thinking of helping their fallen brother.
Just as Fisher had guessed, they were not true members of the gang and didnāt even dare to confront Megās mother, Gina. Only a naĆÆve fool like Meg would get scared by them... but then again, if she wasnāt so foolish, she wouldnāt be silly enough to pay off the debts of a boyfriend who overdosed on drugs and fled.
The chaotic bunch turned tail and ran, completely unaware of how many people were behind them, and one vendor pushing a cart full of goods collided with the fleeing miscreants. The vendor was selling pets, and his cart was full of cages with various small animals.
After a resounding crash, the cages toppled over, and the large cart flipped on its side, crushing the cages beneath.
"Oh, you damn scoundrels! My merchandise! No!"
"Meow~"
"Woof!"
The vendor wailed in agony as many cages were crushed on the spot, with numerous cats and dogs escaping, though some were not so lucky.
In Moliās view, a cat attempting to escape was pinned under the cart, letting out a piercing cry of pain from underneath. The cat had long, soft fur and was the very same kitten from Schwali she had just seen.
Fisher frowned, released the dazed Meg, and his hand cane glowed faintly. The Spinnerās ethereal threads went through each passerby, pulling the escaped pets back.
He then walked up to the vendor, helped him lift the heavy goods cart to reveal the cages and animals trapped underneath.
"Oh my goodness, youāre so kind, sir. I donāt know what I would have done; damn those rotten thugs... Oh my."
Fisher shook his head, looking at the mess in the middle of the road, with many pedestrians avoiding the area, creating a sense of chaos.
After thanking Fisher profusely, the vendor began to gather the scattered cages with a troubled expression.
Moli, however, had quietly knelt down, watching the cat lying on the ground, taking labored breaths, unable to stop life from slipping away. It seemed the heavy cart had broken its body, so it could only stare pitifully at Moli.
With people coming and going, Moli glanced around, hesitated for a moment, bit her lip, and extended a finger quietly towards the cat. In that instant, the blue currents in her eyes seemed to come alive, emitting tiny glimmers of light, and the black current had completely receded without notice.
The crystal-clear water flowed through Moliās eyes, and under her finger, the catās breathing grew calmer, as if some invisible force had rekindled its vitality. A few seconds later, the cat, which should have lost its life, slowly stood up and licked Moliās finger.
"Meow~"
"Oh my God, I just saw that a cat got trapped, and itās my Schwali breed cat! Worth thousands of euros!"
"It... Itās okay, itās still alive."
Having heard the shop ownerās voice, she quickly retracted her fingers and looked around to make sure no one had noticed her slight movement. After confirming she was unseen, she breathed a sigh of relief and stood up to say to the owner,
"Meow~"
"Oh my God, baby, youāre still alive, thatās just great!"
The owner ran over joyfully, hugging the uninjured little cat and showering it with kisses and cuddles, "How come you donāt have a single scratch on you? Iāve heard catās bodies are made of water, so thatās why youāre so lucky, right?"
Moli covered her mouth and chuckled softly, then returned to Professor Fisherās side with the magic materials.
Luckily, Professor Fisher had not seen her actions just now.
Moli snuck a glance at Fisher, and upon seeing no reaction from him, she let out another sigh of relief.
Little did she know, Fisher had seen her small actions the whole time, and had even used his body to shield her from the shop owner and passerbyās line of sight.
But now was not the time to dwell on it. He turned his head to look coldly at the short-haired girl Meg standing behind him and began to speak in a deep voice,
"Meg."
Hearing Professor Fisherās words, Meg walked over with her head bowed, silent.
"If I didnāt know your mother, I wouldnāt bother with your mess, but I still hope you understand that the reason you get deceived and frightened by riff-raff is because of what? I also hope that you take a good look at the people youāve recently been associating with and determine who really has your best interests at heart."
"...Yes."
Fisher straightened his sleeve and then no longer paid attention to her, ready to leave with Moli, when suddenly Meg called out to Fisher from behind,
"Professor Fisher! Wait a second..."
Fisher turned to look at her, but he saw her looking at him and saying,
"The previous talk about ocean subhuman wasnāt about scamming your money, I truly have news about it, but I canāt be sure if itās true..."
Hearing Megās words, Moliās ears stood straight up, her face tensing with nervousness. She repeatedly asked herself if she had seen this human girl when she left school, unsure if their paths had crossed, so she quietly moved closer to listen in on the information.
"...Letās hear it then."
After a glance at the certainty in her eyes, Fisher said after a moment of silence.
