Chapter 2
Take a look at Chapter 2 of "His Silent Vow": The man stepped back, breathing hard.Another voice cut in from the doorwayâolder, calmer.âHeâs still not... See what happens next!
The man stepped back, breathing hard.Another voice cut in from the doorwayâolder, calmer.
âHeâs still not talking?â
âNo.â
A pause.Then a sigh.âThen heâs of no use to us.â
Kol felt it thenâthe shift in the room. The moment when a captive stops being an asset and becomes a liability.Heâd seen it before.Executed it himself.
He closed his eyes, not in surrender, but in acceptance.
Footsteps echoed.Slower now.Different cadence.
Not Bratya.
A third man entered the room.Tall.Unhurried.He wore no insignia, no visible weapon. His presence changed the airânot through threat, but through certainty.
He studied Kol the way a strategist studies a map.
Not what was broken, but what remained beneath the rubble.
âLeave us,â the man said, his Russian accented but fluent.
The others hesitated.
âI wasnât asking.â
They left.
The silence stretched againâbut this time, it was deliberate.
The man crouched in front of Kol, close enough that their knees nearly touched.âYou know who betrayed you,â he said quietly.
Kol opened his eyes.
Still said nothing.
A flicker of somethingâapproval, perhapsâcrossed the manâs face.
âThey wonât kill you today,â he continued.âNot tomorrow either.Theyâll keep you alive just enough to be useful if you ever break.â
Kolâs mouth tasted like iron.He swallowed carefully.
The man leaned in.âBut you wonât.â
It wasnât a question.
âMy name is Elias,â he said.âI represent an organization that dismantles operations like the one that put you in this room.â
Elias paused, then added, âWe donât traffic. We donât sell people. And we donât force loyalty.â
That got Kolâs attention.
Barely.But enough.
Elias held his gaze.âI can get you out.Tonight.Or I can leave, and youâll die in this cell without ever having spoken another word.â
He straightened.âThose are your choices.â
