Chapter 114 - Li Zhaojun's Expectations

At 6:30 in the evening, in his lavishly decorated home dining room, Ye Fan faced a table laden with four sumptuous dishes and two soups.

After serving himself some soup, Ye Fan put down his bowl and met Li Zhaojun’s gaze before suddenly laughing, “I’ve just realized that your eyes are actually quite attractive, though a bit too intense.”

Li Zhaojun, not expecting the conversation to turn towards her looks, slightly cooled her expression and said, “I’m asking you a question; don’t change the subject.”

“I was complimenting you, and pointing out a flaw.

How come you’re not showing any appreciation?” Ye Fan said with a shrug, taking it easy.

“Do you actually know the reason or not?” Li Zhaojun asked, ignoring Ye Fan’s ramblings.

“I do,” Ye Fan replied.

Li Zhaojun’s pupils constricted slightly as she raised her voice a notch and asked, “What reason?”

“Because someone maliciously shorted it,” Ye Fan said nonchalantly, “that’s what everyone in the office says.”

“That’s just the superficial reason.

What about the deeper cause?” Li Zhaojun pressed.

Ye Fan answered in frustration, “How would I know?

Just over a month ago, I was still in the military.

If you asked me how to counterattack the American imperialists or defeat the Japanese, I might have an answer.

But asking me about corporate management is like asking for pears from an elm tree, isn’t it?”

“You really don’t know?” Li Zhaojun asked, a hint of disappointment flashing in her eyes.
