Chapter 81 - Squeeze through the crowd

Because they were eager to go watch the martial arts competition at Elite Fighting Club, Ye Fan and his friends didn’t spend too much time eating and chatting.

At 7:40 PM, everyone was full.

They called the waiter to settle the bill, and Ye Fan simply handed over his bank card to be swiped.

They took the elevator down to the underground parking lot and got into their cars.

Among them, Bobo drove a red Cayenne, taking the lead, while Liu Yiyi and Qin Mengyao drove a cute and chic Buick in the middle, followed by Ye Fan in the rear.

Thirty-odd minutes later, they arrived at Elite Fighting Club.

It was a relatively high-end venue, with a grand decoration, and the entrance was guarded by four burly security guards, in addition to young and beautiful hostesses in cheongsams.

Under normal circumstances, if you weren’t a member, you could generally only stay in the ground floor service hall.

However, Qin Mengyao and Bobo were members, so they led Ye Fan and Liu Yiyi straight inside.

The martial arts competition area was on the third floor in a large hall that spanned an entire floor, with an expansive ambiance featuring a central fighting ring.

When Ye Fan and the others arrived, the competition had already begun.

The area around the ring was packed with military personnel, police officers, and fighting enthusiasts—a dense crowd of around six or seven hundred people.

“Wow, there are so many people,” exclaimed Ye Fan.

Qin Mengyao and Bobo excitedly cried out in unison, “The more people, the merrier!”

Since the ring was more than a meter above the ground, even with a huge crowd, there was no worry about not being able to see from the back.

However, it was clear that Qin Mengyao and Bobo didn’t want to stand in the back; they were determined to push their way to the front.

“Hehe, Brother Ye, now it’s your time to step in!” Bobo pointed at the tightly packed crowd in front of them and laughed.

Qin Mengyao also looked at Ye Fan and nodded emphatically.

“Can’t we watch from back here?

It’s very clear from here,” Liu Yiyi said softly, the image of innocence.

Bobo laughed, “How can you feel the blood-pumping excitement from here?

You’ve got to watch it from the front to get the real thrill.”

Liu Yiyi eyed the crowd packed so tightly that not even a needle could fit and said fearfully, “I think I’ll just watch from back here.

I’m afraid of being squished.”

“What are you afraid of when you have Brother Ye?” Bobo called out.

Knowing Liu Yiyi’s temperament, Qin Mengyao told her, “Yaoyao, it’s fine for you to stay and watch from the back.”

“Mhm,” Liu Yiyi nodded, then said to Ye Fan, “Brother Ye, I won’t squeeze in with you.”

“Alright.

You be careful on your own,” Ye Fan said, nodding.

Bobo was already shaking one of Ye Fan’s arms and shouting, “Brother Ye, make way for us quickly!”

Ye Fan nodded and started to push through the crowd.

Bobo stuck close behind Ye Fan, followed by Qin Mengyao.

Most of the crowd here to watch the martial arts were either military, police, or fighting enthusiasts.

Regardless of gender, everyone was robust and had strong, uncompromising personalities that rarely gave way.

As Ye Fan called out “Excuse me,” those people didn’t budge an inch.

Therefore, with no other choice, Ye Fan had to forcefully make way.

If it had been just him, Ye Fan could have squeezed to the front without much fuss, but ensuring that Helian Bobo and Qin Mengyao followed, he had to exert some strength.

As he was saying “Excuse me, please,” he extended his hands forward and then pushed forcefully on both sides.

The tightly packed, muscular martial arts enthusiasts in front of him were easily swept aside like waves of wheat, forced to part and make way for a human path.

Those who were pushed aside were naturally infuriated and on the verge of lashing out, but when they saw Ye Fan’s tall and robust figure exuding an indescribable fierce aura, and considering how easily he had moved them, a wave of timidity rose in their hearts, and they held back their anger.

Ye Fan cleared the way quite effortlessly, but the path behind him quickly closed up again, forcing Helian Bobo and Qin Mengyao to keep close behind Ye Fan, preventing the separated crowd from immediately closing the path.

Ye Fan distinctly felt Helian Bobo pressing up against his back, almost as if her hands were about to wrap around his waist from behind.

As they delved deeper into the crowd, Ye Fan found the further forward they went, the stronger the people became, which caused their progress to slow down a bit compared to before.

The slower Ye Fan made his way, the more Helian Bobo pressed against his back.

The hint of softness and warmth he felt was quite pleasing, but he wasn’t the type to take advantage of such a situation and immediately picked up the pace to forge ahead.

Before long, the arena was nearly in front of them, but when they were two or three rows of people away from it, Ye Fan suddenly stopped.

Helian Bobo, being squeezed by Qin Mengyao from behind, was now completely pressed against Ye Fan’s back, and she straightforwardly wrapped her fair and tender arms around Ye Fan’s waist.

Qin Mengyao at the very back also wrapped her arms around Helian Bobo’s soft waist.

The three of them formed a chain to prevent being separated.

“Keep pushing, Yaoyao and I can’t see anything from here,” Liu Yiyi called out to Ye Fan.

Ye Fan turned his head with a wry smile and said, “There are police officers ahead, are you sure you want to keep squeezing to the front row?”

“We have to push through the police too, we have no way forward or back,” Helian Bobo said nonchalantly.

Ye Fan thought it made sense.

After all, both Helian Bobo and Qin Mengyao were delicately nurtured girls; they couldn’t possibly squeeze among a group of brawny men to watch the match and risk being harassed.

They had to either watch from the back or squeeze to the front row.

So, Ye Fan turned back around and said to the two police officers in front, “Officer, please let us through.”

The two officers, hearing his request, turned around with looks of surprise.

No wonder they were surprised; the Hua Hai city police and military were holding a friendly match, and yet someone dared to muscle in on the police’s spots.

Was this person emboldened by the courage of a bear and the heart of a leopard?

With a forced smile, Ye Fan said, “There are two girls behind me, please let us through, officers.”

As he spoke, he started to squeeze his way between the two officers.

Though these two were police officers, their agility was not necessarily better than that of the martial arts enthusiasts behind them, and so Ye Fan easily got past them, with Helian Bobo and Qin Mengyao quickly following.

Determined to push past the police to the front of the arena, Ye Fan didn’t give the officers any time to react, and soon, he, along with Helian Bobo and Qin Mengyao, had squeezed to the front.

Once out of the crush of the crowd, the two girls immediately sighed with relief.

But the police officers behind them were now furious.

Although the personnel the military had sent weren’t their top fighters, they were still giving the police department a tough time at the match.

With only one person in the ring, the military had already taken down three of the police department’s competitors.

Thus, the police in the stands were already brimming with anger.

Ye Fan, Helian Bobo, and Qin Mengyao were outsiders, yet they had the audacity to push past their spots, which the police took as a provocation, igniting the fuse of an explosive situation.

“Who are you?

Get out of here, immediately!” A tall, muscular young man in a police uniform angrily pointed at Ye Fan and bellowed.

His fellow officers behind him also glared with faces full of rage, their eyes shooting daggers at Ye Fan.
