Chapter 555: Who Is she?The sun had dipped below the horizon by the time Oriana prepared to leave for the Wildridge Manor. âI promised I would be back by sunset, but it seems Iâm late. Hopefully, he wonât mind for keeping him waiting."
Philip was asleep, so Oriana slipped out without disturbing his rest. As she approached the main door, she spotted a carriage awaited her at the entrance, with Rafal and several knights standing by, as was their routine.
Before moving toward the carriage, Oriana instructed to Ana, "Please look after Grandpa. Should anything arise, send word to me at once."
"Rest assured, Your Highness," came the polite response, "Tonight, leave your worries behind. Enjoy yourself, Your Highness."
Oriana could nod at her Lady-in-waitingâs subtle hint, and made her way to the carriage. Just as she reached the carriage, an inexplicable sensation made her pause and turn around.
âWhat is this strange pull?â
Her gaze wandering around, it was drawn to the manorâs darkest corner, unusually unlit tonight. That dark corner as if calling for her.
Strange!
Unknown to her, Oriana was about to walk in that direction when Anaâs voice reached her, "Your Highness, what happened?"
Jolted back to reality, Oriana gave her servant a puzzled look, then glanced back at the darkened corner. This time, the strange coming from that dark corner had vanished.
She looked at her hands, âWas I imagining things? Or is this an effect of demonic powers on my body?â she wondered. âI hope my body wonât feel that pain today at least or I will end up disappointing him.â
"Your Highness?" Anaâs voice intruded again. Regaining her composure, Oriana queried, "Why is that part in the dark?"
"The wind must have extinguished the lamps. Iâll have them relit," Ana replied reassuringly. With a nod of approval, Oriana was about to step into the carriage when Ana added, "Your Highness, the message has already been sent to Wildridge manor informing your arrival."
Oriana turned to her again with a surprised gaze, as she was not the one to tell Ana to do it, in fact whenever she left for wildridge manor, there was no such ordinal being followed, then why today?
"Your Highness, I wish you a pleasant night," Ana said, a subtle smile on her lips.
Maintaining her composure as if unaware of Anaâs insinuations, Oriana accepted her help and settled into the carriage.
Rafal climbed the horse and under his lead the carriage was left for the Wildridge manor.
Meanwhile, in the dark corner of Vernerâs manor, a woman garbed in dark attire lurked in the shadows, her mind reeling from a startling revelation.
âOriana? Is she truly the one?â
Rosettaâs face was a canvas of shock, her recent discovery rendering her speechless.
She had been tracking the individual described by the Lord, aided by a dark stone he had entrusted to her. This stone had led her towards Griven, filling her with anticipation. As she journeyed to Griven, Rosetta saw it as a fortuitous chance to reconnect with Oriana.
Ever since the night of her awakening, Rosetta had avoided Oriana, burdened by a sense of guilt.
Upon arriving in Grivenâs capital just recently, the stone had guided her to this old looking manor. The force drawing her to this specific location was so potent that Rosetta was convinced the person she sought must be here.
âAt last, I shall find Esmeray and present her to the Lord. Then, nothing will stand in the way of my goal.â
Rosetta, concealed in the secluded corner of the estate, watched intently as the evening unfolded. From her vantage point, she observed a carriage outside, flanked by several knights. Soon, two women emerged, their faces obscured from her view.
The stone in Rosettaâs grasp pulsed intensely, its crimson veins glowing more vividly than ever before. Focused on the women approaching the carriage, she pondered, âOne of them is my target...â Her attention fixed on the woman with reddish locks, a sense of familiarity stirring within her, though she could not see her face.
âWhy does she look known to me?â
Even before she could draw a conclusion, the woman with red blond turned to face in her direction, only to reveal a face that Zaria had not expected.
The stone quivered in Rosettaâs hand, as if eager to bridge the distance to Oriana. Before it was too late, Rosetta used her powers and concealed that Stone and hid in the depth of darkness. She was skilled in hiding her presence.
Once she saw Oriana didnât come in her direction, a wave of relief washed over the stunned Rosetta. She remained hidden, her eyes following Oriana until the carriage disappeared from her sight.
Rosetta grappled with the unexpected turn of events. âWhy is Oriana here instead of the Royal Palace?â she pondered but quickly dismissed the thought, âThatâs not important now.â
She studied the stone, its significance now taking on a new weight. âOriana is the one the Lord seeks. But who is she, truly?â
That night of awakening had only deepened the mystery surrounding Oriana. She was clearly more than just a queen of witches, but her true essence remained elusive. Rosettaâs mind swirled with questions.
âWhy does the Lord want her? What will he do if he finds her?â A sudden surge of concern etched her features. âNo, I canât deliver her to him. Not until I understand who Oriana is and the Lordâs intentions. But how can I uncover this without putting her at risk?â
âBut how can I get answers?.....Evanthe,â A realization stuck her. âShe is the one to hide Orianaâs existence and she has been with Oriana after that night of awakening, I am sure she can answer my questions. I need to find her.â
Yet, the complicated history and existing enmity between Rosetta and Evanthe meant that gleaning this information would be far from straightforward.
Not knowing what had just happened, Orianaâs carriage continued to ride in her desired direction. Her heart full of anticipation as well as nervousness for the night to be unfold.
