Chapter 103 - The Fatted Sheep

In his conversation with the middle-aged man, Ye Chenfeng learned some basic information about him.The middle-aged man was named Mao Kangping, a local businessman.

A Land Rover was much more satisfying.

“Are the police stations in the nearby cities just for show?

They just ignore these villains?” Ye Chenfeng asked with a frown.

The police in nearby cities might as well be for show!

As long as these villains don’t go into the cities to plunder and rob, the police will turn a blind eye, acting as if nothing has happened.” Mao Kangping sighed helplessly.

Weren’t the police supposed to be public servants?

It seemed the police here had completely forgotten their duties.

Though Xiyuan Town sounds like the name of a town, in reality, it’s just a slightly larger village where people mainly live off farming and hunting.

Three hours later, Ye Chenfeng saw a village appear within his field of vision, seemingly about to arrive at Xiyuan Town.

However, after five or six more minutes of driving on the uneven road, an armed roadblock suddenly appeared ahead.

Next to the roadblock stood five or six burly men, each holding a semi-automatic rifle.

Even though these guns were outdated in this day and age, they still followed the principle that a good cat is one that catches mice, regardless of its color—wouldn’t these outdated semi-automatic rifles still take a person’s life with a single shot?

Upon seeing the situation ahead, Mao Kangping wanted to turn around and go back, only to hear a “bang” of a gunshot next to his ear, followed by a rough voice that reached both Ye Chenfeng and Mao Kangping’s ears: “If you want to die, continue turning around.

My bullets aren’t fussy about where they land.”

Mao Kangping’s mouth curled into a bitter smile as he said, “Brother Ye, it seems like we’re going to have to stay put in Xiyuan Town for quite a while.”

Ye Chenfeng remained unmoved.

Six bandits, armed with semi-automatic rifles, approached Mao Kangping’s Land Rover.

The number of people coming to Xiyuan Town has been dwindling!”

The six bandits casually chatted among themselves, paying no heed to Ye Chenfeng and Mao Kangping inside the vehicle.

“What are you two still sitting there for?
