Chapter 231 - 231: MuzanetteThe dimly lit chamber was suffused with an oppressive atmosphere, a chill that seemed to seep into the very bones of those present.

The Lower Moons had been summoned, their expressions ranging from confusion to unease. Muzanette, the progenitor of all demons, sat regally upon a throne of shifting shadows, her crimson eyes gleaming with a cold and calculating light.

Her alabaster skin seemed to glow faintly in the darkness, and her long black hair cascaded over her shoulders, as still and unyielding as her gaze.

The Lower Moons knelt before her, their heads bowed low. None dared to speak. Muzanette's summons were rare, and her wrath was legendary.

"Do you know why you're here?" Muzanette's voice was soft, almost sweet, but it carried an undercurrent of menace that made the demons flinch.

The silence stretched uncomfortably before Lower Moon Five hesitantly raised their head. "We... do not, Lady Muzanette."

Muzanette's crimson gaze fixed on the speaker, and the demon immediately lowered their head again, trembling. She leaned forward slightly, her tone deceptively light. "Rui is dead."

A ripple of shock went through the gathered demons. They exchanged uneasy glances, their confusion evident. "Dead? But how—"

Muzanette's glare silenced the speaker instantly. "Not only has one of you fallen, but something far more disturbing has occurred. A demon under my blood—my control—was severed from me. My cells, eradicated."

Her voice hardened, the sweetness dissolving into icy rage. "And none of you knew. None of you warned me."

The demons remained frozen, their fear palpable. Muzanette rose from her throne, her slender frame radiating authority. "I sent a messenger to investigate, to uncover what happened to Rui. That messenger never returned. What use are any of you if you cannot even fulfill your most basic purpose? To find the Blue Spider Lily, and to uphold my will?"

Lower Moon Four dared to stammer, "My lady, if you give us more time—"

"Time?" Muzanette's laughter was chilling, devoid of humor. "You've had centuries. And what have you accomplished? Nothing."

Her hand shot out, faster than any of them could react. Lower Moon Four's body convulsed as Muzanette's blood-red nails pierced their chest. A moment later, they disintegrated into ash, their screams echoing briefly in the chamber.

The remaining Lower Moons recoiled in horror, but Muzanette's gaze remained calm, almost dispassionate. "Lower Moon Four is gone. Lower Moon Three," she said, her tone colder now, "what excuse do you have?"

Lower Moon Three fell prostrate, their voice shaking. "I've been searching tirelessly, Lady Muzanette! Please, I beg you for another chance. I will not fail you—"

Before they could finish, Muzanette's hand flicked, and threads of dark energy wrapped around them. In an instant, they were crushed into a fine mist, their existence erased. Muzanette's expression betrayed no emotion.

"The Lower Moons are pathetic," Muzanette said flatly, addressing the survivors. "Weak. Unfocused. You are nothing but a burden."

Lower Moon Two, now trembling violently, tried to speak, but Muzanette silenced them with a glance. She strode toward them, her presence suffocating. "If you had any worth, Rui would not have fallen. The Blue Spider Lily would already be in my grasp. You would not stand here, groveling, offering nothing but excuses."

One by one, Muzanette dispatched the remaining Lower Moons with terrifying ease. Each one dissolved into nothingness under her power, their cries fading into the oppressive silence of the chamber. Her rage was cold and methodical, each kill precise and final.

Finally, only Lower Moon One, Enmu, remained kneeling. Unlike the others, Enmu's expression was serene, a faint smile gracing his lips. He raised his head slightly, meeting Muzanette's gaze with a mixture of admiration and fear.

Muzanette regarded him for a long moment. "Do you have any last words?"

Enmu raised his head slightly, a faint smile playing on his lips. His eyes glimmered with a mixture of admiration and fear as he met Muzanette's piercing gaze. "This moment is like a dream come true for me," he said softly, his tone eerily calm. "To die by your hand in person—it's an honor beyond words. I have always delighted in hearing the final gasps of others, their cries as they embrace the end... and now, I am blessed to experience it myself."

Muzanette's eyes narrowed, but her lips curled into a faint smirk. "You speak as though your death is certain."

Enmu tilted his head, the smile still fixed on his face. "Is it not? You've culled the rest of us with such grace and precision. How could someone like me possibly be spared?"

For a moment, silence reigned as Muzanette considered him. Then, without warning, she moved. Shadows coiled around Enmu's body like serpents, lifting him off the ground.

He gasped, his calm facade cracking as the tendrils of darkness tightened around him, forcing him to look directly into Muzanette's eyes.

"You are clever, Enmu," Muzanette said, her voice laced with dangerous amusement. "And you know how to grovel well. But tell me this: do you believe I would waste my blood on someone as useless as the others?"

Enmu's eyes widened slightly, and for the first time, true fear flickered across his face. "I—I would never presume—"

"Silence." Muzanette's voice was as sharp as a blade. "You delight in dreams, don't you? Then dream of this: serving me without failure. Living not for your pleasure but for my will."

She raised her other hand, and a torrent of her own blood shot forward, stabbing into Enmu's body. He cried out, his veins glowing with an intense crimson light as the power coursed through him. His body convulsed, his smile twisting into a grimace of pain as the sheer force of Muzanette's blood threatened to overwhelm him.

"This is a gift," Muzanette said coldly, watching him writhe. "But it is also a burden. My blood will give you strength, far beyond what you could have dreamed. But if you fail me, it will devour you from the inside out. Do you understand?"

Enmu gasped for air, his body trembling as he knelt before her again. The glow in his veins began to fade, replaced by a newfound aura of power that radiated from him. Slowly, his serene smile returned, though it was tinged with exhaustion. "I live only to serve you, Lady Muzanette," he said, his voice trembling with reverence. "Your will is my command."

Muzanette's gaze bore into him, searching for any trace of insincerity. Finding none, she turned her back on him, her dark silhouette towering over the broken chamber. "Go, Enmu. Prove your worth. Find the Blue Spider Lily, and destroy whoever dared to sever my connection with Rui's mother."

Enmu bowed deeply, his forehead touching the ground. "I will not fail you, my lady."
