Chapter 295: Blood Contract
In Chapter 287 of "Overlord: The Multiverse": Shinobuâs eyes narrowed as she studied me, her sharp gaze unwavering. "If youâre so confident,... Discover the next events!
Shinobuâs eyes narrowed as she studied me, her sharp gaze unwavering. "If youâre so confident, then why havenât you killed him already? Why wait?" she repeated, her tone a razorâs edge, cutting through any attempt to deflect her question.I leaned in slightly, a small, amused smile playing at my lips. "If youâre good at something, never do it for free," I replied smoothly, letting the words hang in the air, deliberately vague and tinged with provocation.
Her brows furrowed, and her lips pressed into a thin line. For a moment, there was silence as she processed my response, her expression unreadable. Then, she let out a soft sigh, her voice calm yet tinged with suspicion. "What is the price I need to pay?"
I raised an eyebrow, genuinely intrigued by her composure and pragmatism. "Oh, youâre unexpectedly cooperative," I remarked, the smile on my face widening as I leaned back slightly, maintaining the air of casual confidence.
Shinobu straightened her posture, her hands loosely clasped in front of her as she replied, "If not dying means I can still watch Doma beg for mercy before he dies, then yes, Iâd rather consider alternatives. If your terms are reasonable, Iâm willing to listen."
Her pragmatic response caught me slightly off guard, though I didnât let it show. She was no foolâher mind was as sharp as her blade, and she clearly wasnât going to let her emotions cloud her judgment entirely. I couldnât help but respect her for that.
I tilted my head, feigning a thoughtful expression. "Alright, Iâll give you my terms. But promise not to be too shocked."
"Just say it," Shinobu replied flatly, her patience visibly thinning.
I chuckled softly before finally speaking. "If you become my lover, Iâll kill him for you."
For a moment, there was silence as the words sank in. Shinobuâs expression froze, her eyes widening ever so slightly before narrowing in disbelief. Her lips parted, but no sound came out immediately. When she finally found her voice, it was dry and laced with irritation. "...Iâll be going now."
She turned on her heel, clearly ready to end the conversation.
"Wait, wait, I was just joking!" I called after her, holding up my hands in mock surrender. "Donât be so hasty, Shinobu. That was my attempt at humorâperhaps a poor one."
Shinobu stopped but didnât turn around immediately. She crossed her arms over her chest, glancing at me over her shoulder with a mixture of annoyance and curiosity. "Then what is the real price?"
I grinned, lowering my hands. "Your blood."
Her eyebrows shot up, and she fully turned back to face me, her expression now a mix of skepticism and intrigue. "My blood?" she repeated, her tone cautious.
"Yes," I confirmed with a nod. "You havenât forgotten, have you? I told you beforeâIâm a vampire."
Shinobu raised an eyebrow. "I remember. But what does that have to do with my blood?"
I took a step closer, my voice dropping slightly, adding a touch of dramatic flair. "Your blood, Shinobu, is something extraordinary. Thanks to the wisteria youâve infused into it, itâs unlike anything else. To me, itâs the finest vintage, a beverage so rare and exquisite itâs almost intoxicating just to think about it."
She blinked, caught off guard by the poetic way I described it. "Youâre saying... my blood is like alcohol to you?"
"Not just any alcohol," I corrected. "The highest quality, the rarest brew. A taste so perfect it could make even the gods jealous."
Shinobuâs cheeks flushed faintly, though she quickly masked her embarrassment. "Thatâs an odd way to flatter someone, Alex-san," she said dryly.
"Not flattery," I replied with a slight smirk. "Just honesty. If you let me drink your bloodâjust a littleâIâll take care of Doma for you. Consider it a small price for what youâll gain in return."
Shinobu tilted her head, considering my words carefully. She wasnât one to make hasty decisions, even in the face of something as tempting as revenge. "And what guarantee do I have that youâll keep your word?"
"My word is all you need," I said firmly, meeting her gaze. "I donât break promises, Shinobu. If I say Iâll kill Doma, I will. And I wonât rest until heâs dead at my feet."
Her violet eyes searched mine, looking for any hint of deception. After a moment, she sighed, running a hand through her hair. "Youâre quite the negotiator, arenât you?"
"I prefer to think of myself as persuasive," I replied with a grin.
Shinobu shook her head, a small, reluctant smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Fine. If itâs just my blood, then Iâll consider it. But only a little at a time. And only because I donât have a better option right now."
