Chapter 308: Akeno and Shinobu 1

As Akeno and Shinobu walked through the quiet halls of the Butterfly Mansion, the muffled sounds from Alex’s room faded into the background. Soon, they reached the courtyard, where the cool night air wrapped around them like a gentle embrace.The moon hung high in the sky, casting a soft glow over the garden. Fireflies blinked lazily in the darkness, adding to the serene atmosphere.

Shinobu gracefully sat down on the wooden porch, her hands resting in her lap, while Akeno followed suit, stretching her legs out slightly. A comfortable silence settled between them, neither in a hurry to break the tranquility. Eventually, Shinobu was the one to speak first.

"So, Akeno-san, what is Alex like in your world?" She asked, tilting her head slightly as she regarded the devil-fallen angel hybrid beside her.

"Alex-kun, huh?" Akeno mused, tilting her head slightly. "How do I even begin?" A small chuckle escaped her lips. "He’s... weird."

Shinobu raised an eyebrow at the choice of words, but Akeno continued.

"One moment, he’s the most charming and teasing man I’ve ever met, and the next thing I know, he’s the most serious, cunning man I know."

Shinobu placed a hand under her chin in thought. "That does sound like him. I have seen glimpses of that side of him here as well."

Akeno smirked. "Oh? That’s surprising. I thought he was busy...entertaining others."

Shinobu let out a small laugh. "He does seem quite popular."

Akeno sighed dramatically. "It can be exhausting keeping up with him, but I wouldn’t have it any other way." She then looked up at the sky, her expression turning slightly curious. "Though, I don’t really know how he is as the Ruler of Nazarick."

Shinobu blinked at her. "Nazarick?" she repeated, the name unfamiliar on her tongue.

Akeno turned her head sharply, her eyes widening in surprise. "Wait... you mean Alex hasn’t told you about his kingdom?"

Shinobu shook her head. "No, this is the first time I’m hearing about it."

Akeno’s surprised expression quickly turned into one of amusement. "Ara, ara~ So he hasn’t told you yet, has he?" She chuckled, her tone playful yet curious. "That’s unusual. Normally, Alex doesn’t hide things from those he’s interested in."

Shinobu raised an eyebrow. "Interested in?"

Akeno giggled. "Oh, don’t act so clueless. You’re beautiful, strong, and intelligent—of course, he’s interested in you."

Shinobu’s smile remained in place, but she chose not to comment on that. Instead, she shifted the conversation back. "So, this Nazarick... what exactly is it?"

Akeno’s eyes gleamed as she leaned forward slightly, clearly enjoying the opportunity to explain. "Nazarick is Alex’s kingdom. No, calling it a kingdom doesn’t do it justice. It’s more of an empire hidden within a single great tomb."

Shinobu listened intently as Akeno continued.

"It’s a massive underground fortress, home to some of the most powerful beings I’ve ever seen. The guardians, the servants, and the maids—each of them is ridiculously strong, and all of them are absolutely loyal to Alex."

"Are Shalltear and Lupus also one of them?" Shinobu asked, and she didn’t ask about Yuki as she knew she was a formal demon from this world.

"I don’t know who this Lupus is, but I know who Shalltear is." Akeno said.

Shinobu tapped a finger against her chin. "And you’re saying he rules over this place?"

Akeno nodded. "Oh yes, he is their absolute ruler. They don’t just follow him—they revere him. To them, he’s like a god."

Shinobu hummed in thought. "That doesn’t sound like something fitting for Alex. But if he rules over such a place, why is he here in this world?"

Akeno shrugged. "He likes to explore, to experience new things, and to find strong people who can intrigue him. He never stays in one place for too long. Well... unless he has good company." She smirked, giving Shinobu a knowing look.

Shinobu met her gaze without hesitation. "It’s intriguing that he never mentioned it to me. Do you think he was hiding it?"

Akeno shook her head. "No, not hiding. He probably just didn’t think it was necessary to bring it up yet. Or... maybe he was waiting for you to ask."

Shinobu let out a soft breath and turned her gaze toward the night sky. "He truly is a mysterious man."

Akeno leaned back, stretching her arms above her head. "That he is. But that’s what makes him so irresistible."

Shinobu gave her a sidelong glance. "You seem quite devoted to him."

Akeno giggled. "Of course. He’s my beloved, after all."

Shinobu took a moment before asking, "And what about the others?"

Akeno smirked. "Oh, you mean the rest of his lovers?"

Shinobu nodded.

Akeno let out a thoughtful hum. "Well, there are quite a few of us. Some, like Rias and Serafall, have known him for a while. Others, like me, found ourselves drawn to him because of his strength and charisma. Then there are those from Nazarick... they are on another level of devotion."

Shinobu’s curiosity was piqued. "How so?"

Akeno’s expression turned more serious. "To them, Alex isn’t just a man they love. He’s their god, their supreme being. They would die for him without hesitation. If Alex hadn’t told them not to hurt us, we would already have been dead."
