I watched, arms crossed, as Shinobu moved with increasing desperation. Her blade flashed through the air, striking at every possible opening, but it wasnât enough.Doma remained as infuriatingly calm as ever, his eerie smile never wavering, even as fresh cuts laced his body. The poison was in himâagain and again, she landed her strikesâbut he wasnât crumbling like he should have been.
The freezing air around him had become almost unbearable, visible frost creeping up the walls and floor. Every breath Shinobu took came out in small puffs of mist.
She was slowing down.
Her movements, once light and effortless, now carried the tiniest hesitation. The exhaustion was catching up to her.
And yet, she didnât stop.
I could see it in her eyes. That fire. That hatred.
This wasnât just a battle for herâit was revenge.
Her sisterâs memory.
Her own suffering.
Her entire reason for becoming a Hashira.
Insect Breathing, Final Form: Dance of the Stingless BeeâMercury Rain
A flurry of strikesâcountless, relentless. A last-ditch effort to overwhelm him.
But Doma simply laughed, stepping back with ease, his fans deflecting her blade as if it were nothing more than a toy.
"Ah, how tragic," he sighed. "Youâre so much weaker than I thought youâd be."
Shinobu gritted her teeth, sweat mixing with the frost on her skin.
She was losing.
And she knew it.
I narrowed my eyes.
I had hoped she could at least force him into the sunlight. That was why I had sat back, letting her fight. This was her battle, and I wanted her to win it on her own terms.
But it was clear nowâshe couldnât.
Doma was too strong.
And then, I saw it.
That flicker of acceptance in her eyes.
She knew she couldnât win.
So she was going to do the only thing leftâ
Sacrifice herself.
I sighed.
Then, I stood up.
The bucket of popcorn in my hand fell to the ground, the sound echoing through the silent temple.
Shinobu and Doma both turned toward me.
Doma blinked. "Oh?" He tilted his head. "Are you finally done spectating?"
I dusted off my coat. "Yeah," I said simply. "This has gone on long enough."
Shinobu looked at me, her breathing heavy, sweat glistening on her brow. "Stay out of this, Alex," she muttered.
I ignored her.
My gaze was fixed solely on Doma.
"Youâre an arrogant bastard, arenât you?" I said casually. "Acting all untouchable, like nothing in the world can faze you."
Doma chuckled. "I simply acknowledge the truth! This dear girl tried her hardest, but in the end, strength wins. And she has none."
Shinobu flinched.
I clenched my fist.
"I see," I murmured.
I took a step forward.
Domaâs smile flickered.
Another step.
The temperature in the room dropped further, but I didnât stop.
Shinobu looked at me, confusion flashing across her face. "Alex, what are youâ"
I kept walking.
Another step.
Then I disappeared.
Faster than a blink.
When I reappearedâ
I was right in front of Doma.
His eyes widened.
My fist slammed into his stomach with the force of a meteor.
The impact cracked the ground beneath us, sending shockwaves through the temple.
Doma flew.
He crashed through the far wall, debris exploding in all directions, his body breaking through multiple layers of wood and stone before finally coming to a stop outside.
Shinobu staggered back, eyes wide.
I cracked my knuckles.
"Alright, asshole," I said, rolling my shoulders. "Letâs see how untouchable you really are."
Doma groaned, standing up from the rubble, his mouth twisted in something that almost resembled excitement.
"Ahh," he exhaled, brushing the dust from his robes. "Now this is interesting."
His grin widened.
"I havenât fought someone like you before."
I smirked. "You wonât get the chance to fight anyone else after this."
Doma let out a low chuckle, his fans unfolding.
"Then letâs see what you can do."
He moved first.
A gust of icy wind exploded from his position, the temperature plummeting even further as razor-sharp ice shards formed around him.
Cryokinesis: Frozen Lotus Bloom
The ice petals shot toward me at insane speed, spinning like miniature saw blades.
I exhaled.
Then I moved.
The world blurred around me.
I weaved through the attack effortlessly, dodging each shard without breaking stride.
Domaâs grin widened.
"Fast," he mused. "Very fast."
I appeared behind him in an instant, my foot already raised.
The kick connected with his side, launching him again.
He twisted midair, flipping gracefully before landing on his feet.
Blood dripped from his mouth, staining the snow-white fabric of his robes.
He wiped it away with a flick of his wrist, still smiling.
"Ahh, so youâre the real deal."
I cracked my neck. "You just now figured that out?"
Doma laughed.
Then, for the first time, he got serious.
The air thickened.
The frost around him grew.
Ice formed beneath his feet, spreading outward in intricate patterns.
Cryokinesis: Absolute Zero Domain
A pulse of energy erupted from him, covering the entire battlefield in an instant.
Shinobu shivered violently, stepping back, her breath coming out in short gasps.
I narrowed my eyes.
This techniqueâ
It wasnât just freezing the air.
It was freezing the very concept of warmth. If in terms of Yggdrisil magic, then it is very close to 9th-tier magic.
I could feel itâthe creeping numbness trying to seep into my body.
Domaâs smile widened as he watched me. "I wonder," he mused. "How long can you last in my world?"
I exhaled, my breath crystallizing in the air.
So cool.
Then I smirked.
I took a deep breath.
And thenâ
I burned.
I activated my skill for the first time in a while.
Domine of Unholy Flames is a skill I got after the combination of Domine of Flame, I got from slaying the Celestial Lord of Flames (world enemy), and Domine of Wrath, from my Job class, Lord of Wrath.
Of course, If I unleash its full power, nothing in 20 km is surviving (without using a bluff to increase the skill strength)
As I activated my skill, a burst of crimson energy erupted from my body, shattering the frost trying to take hold of me. The ground beneath me cracked, steam rising as my warmth overpowered his cold.
Domaâs eyes widened.
I clenched my fists, heat radiating from my skin.
"Your world?" I scoffed. "Nah."
I dashed forward, appearing in front of him in an instant.
"This is my world now, bitch."
I drove my fist straight into his chest.
Doma coughed, blood splattering onto my hand.
His eyes, for the first time, held something besides amusement.
They held fear.
I smiled.
"Letâs end this."
