Chapter 391: I am Traveller
Chapter 383 of "Overlord: The Multiverse" unveils a new twist: As we made our way through the dimly lit streets of E-Rantel, the city was... See what happens!
As we made our way through the dimly lit streets of E-Rantel, the city was already settling into the quiet of the night. The air was crisp, carrying the lingering scent of damp stone and the faint aroma of street food from the market district.Clementine walked slightly ahead of me, her hands resting casually behind her head, her armor clinking softly with each step. Solution followed beside me, ever poised and elegant, as though she were gliding rather than walking.
Eventually, we arrived at the rundown inn where I had been staying.
Clementine stopped at the entrance, glancing up at the modest wooden structure before turning her attention to me.
"This is your place?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
I stepped past her, pushing open the creaking door. "Yeah."
As soon as we entered, Clementine took a look around, her expression twisting into mild disgust. The room was small and bare-bonesâjust a single wooden bed, a wobbly table, and a tiny window that barely let in any light. The air carried a faint mustiness, and the floorboards creaked under our weight.
Clementine wrinkled her nose. "This is so low-class. Feels like a place where low-rank adventurers come to die after a long day of failure."
Solution and I exchanged glances.
"We only arrived in this world recently," I said finally. "We didnât know which places were good. This one was recommended by the Adventurerâs Guild."
Clementine gave me a long, searching look. Then she smirked. "Hah, âarrived in this world,â huh? Thatâs a weird way to put it."
I leaned against the wall, arms crossed. "Because itâs the truth."
She tilted her head, intrigued. "Explain."
I met her gaze evenly. "Iâm a travelerâsomeone who moves across different worlds. This is the third world Iâve visited."
Silence.
Clementine stared at me, her amber eyes narrowing as she processed my words.
Then, she suddenly burst into laughter. "PffftâHahahaha! Oh, thatâs a good one! And here I thought you were actually serious!"
I remained silent.
Her laughter slowed. She looked at me again, this time searching for any hint of a joke in my expression.
There was none.
The amusement in her face gradually faded. "Wait. Youâre not kidding?"
I shook my head. "No."
Clementine opened her mouth, then shut it. She looked at Solution for confirmation, but Solution only smiled.
"Huh..." Clementine muttered, her fingers tapping against her hip. "So let me get this straight. YouâAlex, my so-called âmasterââcan hop between worlds?"
"Yes."
She folded her arms, her gaze sharpening. "Why?"
I let the question hang in the air for a moment before answering.
"For power. For experience. For curiosity."
Then, I looked her straight in the eye.
"And to meet someone like you."
Clementine blinked.
For the second time since I met her, she looked... caught off guard.
It only lasted for a second, but I caught the way her lips parted slightly, how her body stiffened ever so subtly. Then, just as quickly, she covered it up with a smirk.
"Heh. What, you travel through worlds just to pick up women?"
"Not just any woman," I replied smoothly.
She snorted. "Oh please, you must say that to every girl you meet."
I shrugged. "Believe what you want."
Clementine exhaled, shaking her head. "Hah, well, whatever. It is interesting; Iâll give you that. Youâre definitely not normal. Though, I guess I already knew that when you pulled my damn stiletto out of your chest like it was nothing."
Her fingers brushed against the side of her neck absentmindedlyâthe same spot where I had bitten her earlier.
She then glanced around the dingy room again before clicking her tongue. "Still, if youâre that special, why the hell are you staying in a dump like this? As my new masterâof sortsâI could
arrange a proper place for you. A fantasy-like mansion, or even a fortress, if thatâs your thing."
Solution gave me a questioning look, silently asking if I wanted her to take care of it.
But I shook my head.
"Not necessary," I said. "Weâre heading to Re-Estize tomorrow."
Clementine raised an eyebrow. "Re-Estize? Huh. Well, thatâs a shame. I was hoping to enjoy some luxury for once."
"Youâll live," I said, walking over to the bed and sitting down. "Besides, traveling is more fun than being tied down in one place."
Clementine hummed in thought. "Canât argue with that." She then stretched, her back arching slightly, revealing the toned muscles of her stomach.
"Well, if weâre leaving tomorrow, I better get some rest. Unlike you, I actually need sleep."
She dropped down onto a chair, resting her arms behind her head, looking surprisingly relaxed.
Solution, ever poised, moved to stand behind me. "Shall I prepare anything, Alex-sama?"
I shook my head. "Not tonight. Just rest."
She gave a slight nod. "Understood."
Clementine watched our interaction with a curious look before smirking again. "You really do live like some kind of fantasy overlord, huh?"
I chuckled. "Something like that."
