Chapter 3 - The Crazy Training of the Larva!

The third day of rebirth had finally arrived.

As larva life spans are quite short, their growth rates are extraordinarily fast.

In a brief span of three days, the results of Jia Yan’s training efforts have emerged!

Continuous training along with a diet rich in nutritious gray-white organic matter has resulted in his body growing considerably larger than his batch mates who were born at the same time.

His breath-holding time also significantly extended.

Now he could hold his breath for half an hour underwater without needing to resurface!

“Excellent.

An insect body indeed has great potential.

It’s just that none have ever housed a human soul such as mine before,” Jia Yan was quite satisfied with his training results.

“I feel a bit itchy.

It must be time for my first molt!”

Jia Yan controlled his body and quickly swam to the crevice between the two pieces of cobblestone that had become his ‘den’.

During the swim, he eagerly consumes the gray-white organic matter around him.

His body swelled, and the outer skin became somewhat solidified.

This skin, consists of a waxy layer and chitin, which becomes easy to shed during the molt.

Jia Yan felt extremely uncomfortable and he struggled nonstop in the water!

His tender exoskeleton began to slowly crack.

Jia Yan felt the exoskeleton of his head split open.

He exerted all his strength and made his body crawl towards the crevice!

The fact proved that his continuously trained body was indeed of some help right now.

Before long, his body sprang out from the old skin!

The skin of the newborn was almost transparent.

It changed color instantly upon contact with the dirty pond water.

Jia Yan did not stop moving.

He was still relentlessly twitching his body.

He could feel his body instantly strengthening and growing.

At this time, if he went all out in training, the results would be even better than the total results of the previous days!

Finally, when Jia Yan once again weakened and stopped twitching, a larva that had undergone one transformation appeared in the middle of the cobblestone…

This was a giant larva that was twice the size of other larvae!

Any insecticide developed by humans, as long as a poisoned but not dead mosquito or cockroach escaped, their offspring would possess resistance.

That was the frightening aspect of insects!

Jia Yan, who had the intelligence of a human, perfected his larva body with his will.

This was an unprecedented feat.

This molt deepened not only Jia Yan’s confidence in his larva body but also greatly bolstered his self-confidence!

As long as he persisted, something good would surely happen!

“Excellent, as I had anticipated, an insect’s body holds limitless potential as long as it is deliberately trained.

For my second molt, I will make myself even stronger!”

Once an idea has been conceived, it must be acted upon.

With the knowledge of his short lifespan, Jia Yan felt he could not waste a second!

He began to consume large amounts of the grey-white organic matter once more, not bothering to eat anything else.

His powerful body was flexing with even more force, and even the parts that were hard to train were now being consciously exercised.

The above two points were old news; this time, Jia Yan thought of a new training plan.

One that involved using his body to collide against the cobblestones repeatedly!

The two pieces of cobblestone that he used as his den were about half the size of an adult’s palm.

But for Jia Yan who had become a larva, they were the best sanctuary and most intimate place.

Now, in his training plan, the two pieces of cobblestone were put to good use.

He hid in the crevice, slamming his body against a pebble over and over again!

On every hit, he leveraged the backlash to bounce backward and then he used all his might to move forward and slam into the surface of the pebble again!

Again and again, until he depleted all his oxygen or exhausted his strength.

The life of a mosquito is too short, too short to afford any rest!

With every slam, algae on the pebble’s surface fell off, revealing the pebble’s original grey color beneath.

Knocking the tenacious algae loose, was a task that could be said to be impossible for a tiny larva to complete!

But, Jia Yan actually did it.

“Hurts!

Hurts like hell!

But this pain is nothing compared to the intense pain experienced when one is beaten to death!

So, I will continue!

Over and over!”

Every time Jia Yan wanted to give up, he would remember the moment he, as a human, was beaten to death.

That brutal beating, fists breaking flesh, kick after kick aimed to kill, even now as he inhabited a larval body, he could vividly recall the indescribable pain!

His body hurt, but his heart hurt more!

Incapable of defending himself from the beating, he despised his own helplessness.

Being beaten to death alive, he could only blame himself for not exercising regularly!

If he had exercised, even if he would still have died, he could’ve at least taken one of his attackers with him!

To avoid repeating the same regrets after his rebirth, he could not give up – he had to strive harder and harder!

“Slam!” Jia Yan roared in his mind, charging even more fiercely!

He could feel that due to his repeated impacts, this rapidly developing larva had been thoroughly exercised to its limits.

The exoskeleton became tougher, and its internal organs got stronger!

Except for training, he only ate!

He trained relentlessly when it was time to train, not resting for even a second!

And when it was time to eat, he ate with desperate abandon!

The grayish organic matter that appeared daily seemed innumerable.

Hence, Jia Yan could eat freely, even if he was full, he would continue to eat, until his belly bulged as though he had doubled in weight.

This food, once consumed, quickly turned into necessary nutrients for the larva’s growth, with the bulk of it becoming the energy source for Jia Yan’s relentless training!

Training!

Eating!

Training again!

Eating again!

A tiny larva, in this pond, staged a hardship filled journey that left humans awestruck!

Soon, another three days had passed.

Jia Yan found himself ready to moult again.

In fact, his last two moulting were one or two days later than a typical larva.

The ones from his batch had already completed their second metamorphosis.

Perhaps this was tied to Jia Yan’s relentless training.

Regardless of whether it was a positive or negative impact, the difference was just what Jia Yan wanted.

If there was no difference discernible between him and an ordinary larva, he would have been disheartened.

Because no matter how mad his efforts, or how much he motivated himself, the result was still a common mosquito.

At most, just a slightly stronger common mosquito.

Yet, the time difference between him and typical larvae during their second moult gave Jia Yan a different thought…
