Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Oh, Looking for a Fight?Lu Qingâs gaze flickered with a trace of darkness.
There had never been anyone like her who could unsettle him so easily.
But he absolutely wouldnât allow anyone to affect him!
That night, he didnât sleep with her but went to another room instead.
Qin Miaomiao quietly exhaled in relief. If she had to sleep on the same bed again, she wouldnât know what mindset to adopt to face him.
Trying not to offend, yet unwilling to get closeâthat delicate balance was truly difficult to navigate.
The next day, she got up early. Since new clothes hadnât been delivered, she was still wearing last nightâs outfit. She tied up her hair, tidied herself, and then went downstairs.
At the dining table sat Lu Lu, who, upon seeing her, revealed a scornful smile and mocked her in a contemptuous tone:
"Waking up this late? Clearly, you donât know the rules of the Lu Family. As the wife of the Lu Family, you must rise before eight and also prepare breakfast."
Her lofty, commanding tone was genuinely unpleasant.
Qin Miaomiao took a seat at the other end of the table. Seeing that she ignored her, Lu Lu became even more upset, and her words grew sharper:
"It seems youâre not only slow-witted but also hard of hearing. Didnât you hear what I just said? Donât think that my brother bringing you back here means anything! And donât believe Iâm unawareâhe didnât even sleep in the same room as you last night. He didnât even want to touch you. Do you actually think you can hold on to the title of Mrs. Lu?"
Qin Miaomiao looked at her with a faint, sarcastic smile, and after a pause, she responded calmly:
"It seems that youâre quite fond of prying into othersâ personal matters. Additionally, you could use some lessons on manners. Raising your voice at your sister-in-law is truly inappropriate behavior."
Lu Lu was so furious that she practically jumped from her seat!
"Qin Miaomiao, what do you mean? How dare you insult me? What makes you think youâre qualified to insult me!"
Qin Miaomiao sat there gracefully, forming a stark contrast with Lu Luâs enraged demeanor.
Her gaze swept over Lu Lu, cold and devoid of any warmth. For some reason, Lu Lu suddenly felt a chill run down her spine, a sense of unease swelling withinâa feeling she typically experienced only when facing her brother.
How could this wretched woman possess such a commanding presence?
No, it must be an illusion. Who did she think she was?
She had neither beauty nor background, just got lucky by having Grandpa shield her.
"As your sister-in-law, itâs certainly my duty to educate my younger sister-in-law."
"What sister-in-law? I donât acknowledge you! Get out of here right now! The Lu Family would never want someone like you as a daughter-in-law!"
Lu Lu made a gesture as if she were about to throw her out. Qin Miaomiao appeared entirely unaffected and merely clicked her tongue:
"For someone whoâs Lu Qingâs younger sister, you certainly donât bear any resemblance to him. It looks like you need to seriously work on your manners. Otherwise, if you embarrass yourself in public, people will question the upbringing of the Lu Family."
When Lu Lu heard this, she seemed profoundly struck. Before she could react, a voice cold as frost rang out from behind:
"Who are you accusing of poor manners?"
Qin Miaomiao turned her head and saw Fang Li standing behind her, her expression cloaked in an icy chill. Her gaze, sharp as a blade, made Qin Miaomiaoâs heart clench.
After all, this was her nominal mother-in-law. She was evidently more formidable than Lu Lu, far harder to deal with.
She stood up and obediently greeted her:
"Mom."
Fang Li sneered:
"Donât call me that; I canât afford such respect. Just now, you said Lu Lu lacked manners, didnât you? Looks like you have quite the opinion of the Lu Family."
