Rebirth in Another World as the Undead Queen

“Ding.”

The sound is the first thing Serea hears after the world goes dark. No blinding light, no heroic prophecy—just a flat mechanical chime in the back of her skull and a line of text burning across her vision:

Congratulations. Four Dark Altars inherited. New designation: Lord of Darkness.

Serea’s response is not exactly regal. More along the lines of: …what?

The system doesn’t wait for her to catch up. Another chime, another forced choice she never agreed to. Flesh twists, bones hum, something cold and ancient curls around her heart.

Primary class installed: Blood Queen. Core structure unlocked: Blood Well.

She can smell iron in the air before she even understands the words. The ground beneath her feet drinks up crimson as if it’s been thirsty for centuries.

Then comes the second surge.

Secondary class installed: Undead Queen. Core structure unlocked: Plague Graveyard.

Grave soil, damp and sweet and rotten, pushes up under her heels. A wind she can’t feel tugs at the edges of the shrouds that are not there—yet.

She keeps trying to protest, to ask who signed her up for this and whether she can get a refund. The system drowns her out with its cheerful notifications, handing her altars of blood and death like they’re starter gear in a casual game.

Only this isn’t a game. The creatures that crawl from her wells and graves remember old wars and older gods. The people who see her coming don’t see a confused girl; they see a sovereign of corruption, a walking omen.

Rebirth, for Serea, means ruling a darkness she never wanted, in a world that expects its Undead Queen to act like a monster—and punishes her, and everyone near her, when she hesitates.
