Chapter 456 - These Thieves Are Not Easy to Fool
Chapter 456 of "Exploring Technology in a Wizard World" starts the action: "Gulp--"Harvey swallowed hard, looking at the surrounding Thieves with an evident nervousness, but he didnât... Find out what happens!
"Gulp--"Harvey swallowed hard, looking at the surrounding Thieves with an evident nervousness, but he didnât show fear. He steadied himself and shouted, "Hmph, you just have numbers, a bunch of cowards without guts! Who dares to come and fight me one-on-one?"
"Heh, seeking death! Thinking youâre a Knight just because you killed one of my brothers with an ambush?" A skinny Thief stepped forward with a dagger after hearing Harveyâs words, "You want to fight, fine, Iâll give you a chance. Letâs see what youâre capable of!"
After speaking, the skinny Thief didnât offer any courtesy and charged at Harvey with extreme speed, slashing his knife.
With a "pfft" sound, the skinny Thiefâs blade crossed Harveyâs shoulder, leaving a wound, and before Harvey could counter-attack, the Thief retreated, showing his high agility.
"Ugh." Harvey grunted, holding his wound.
The skinny Thief looked very pleased with himself, licking the fresh blood off the tip of his knife and squinting mockingly at Harvey, "Is that all youâve got? You think youâre fit to fight me? Hmph, I can let you bleed out slowly, believe it or not. Iâll tell you, I have a title, itâs called Cold-blooded Doctor!"
"Whoosh-- Whoosh--" Harvey didnât respond to the skinny Thiefâs words and just gasped for air in silence.
"Scared?" The self-proclaimed "Cold-blooded Doctor" glanced at Harvey with a smile and in the next moment suddenly pounced again with his dagger, aiming the blade at Harveyâs neck.
"Die, you scum... Ah!" The skinny Thief screamed as his taunt turned into a howl of pain.
Because when his blade was still a dozen centimeters from Harveyâs neck, Harveyâs heavy Great Sword suddenly lifted and penetrated his belly.
"You!" The skinny Thiefâs eyes widened, his mouth gradually gaping open, unable to believe as he looked down at the hole in his belly, "You... you..."
With a "whoosh," Harvey withdrew his sword, and the skinny Thief "thud" collapsed to the ground. Harvey spoke slowly, "I donât know if youâre a doctor or not, but your blood inside will surely go cold in this weatherâthatâs for certain."
After speaking, Harvey took a deep breath and turned to the numerous Thieves, "All right, the first one to seek death has been dealt with. Is there a second one brave enough to seek death, or are you really what I saidâa bunch of cowards?"
Richard stood behind Harvey, watching and giving a slight flash of admiration in his eyes. Although he didnât think Harvey could really deal with the situation at hand, he did appreciate his performance.
Compared with his usual behavior, Harvey was clearly thinking more critically in this pressing situation. Since jumping off the carriage, he had been trying to provoke the anger and pride of the Thieves, to get them into one-on-one combat instead of swarming him.
One-on-one, Harvey would still be unable to hold out in the end. But compared to a swarm of Thieves attacking at once, it could at least buy some timeâevery second longer alive was a second earned.
But ideal is one thing, and reality is another... The Thieves werenât cooperating with Harvey.
According to the principle of survival of the fittest, those who are arrogant and can be goaded by provocation would obviously be eliminated more easily, like the "Cold-blooded Doctor" was. There seemed to be very few such people in the Thief Group, or maybe there had been many before but were gradually weeded out, becoming a rare species. The "Cold-blooded Doctor" probably was the last of his kind.
After the "Cold-blooded Doctor" died, in response to Harveyâs "verbal challenge," none of the remaining Thieves responded, and the scene became somewhat awkward and silent.
After a brief silence, one of the Thief Leaders stepped forward, wearing a dirty black leather eye patch. He waved his dagger and shouted to the many Thieves, "What are you all standing around for? Attack together, chop him to pieces!"
"Yes!" All Thieves responded in unison, quickly converging on Harvey.
Harveyâs expression changed involuntarily, he cursed the shameless Thieves and quickly dragged Richard beside him to hide next to a four-wheeled carriage. With their backs against the carriage to temporarily avoid attacks from one direction, he swung his heavy Great Sword, striking at the very unchivalrous Thieves.
"Bang bang bang!"
"Damn it! Die!"
"Kill him!"
"Dream on!"
"Get on with it!"
"Get lost!"
The battle raged on, the clamor was deafening. Harvey exerted all his strength, brandishing his iron sword and fighting desperately against the thieves, even killing two dazed ones.
His performance could certainly be called excellent!
But... that was all, Richard could tell. Harveyâs swordsmanship was actually quite sloppy, not refined through systematic training. The reason he managed to kill the thieves was all due to his sheer strength and explosive power. As the battle wore on, with Harvey sustaining injuries, his strength and power gradually waned, exposing signs of fatigue. Following this trend, Harvey would, at most, be able to take down one or two more enemies before running out of steam.
Richardâs prediction proved to be accurate.
The fight went on for a while longer, and Harvey, despite receiving a vicious slash to the shoulder, forcibly decapitated a short thief.
"Pff!"
Blood spurted out like a fountain from the headless bodyâs neck, splashing everywhere.
"Ah!"
Holding the sword in one hand and the severed head in the other, Harvey yelled with bloodshot eyes at the thieves, "Come on, come on! Who wants to be the next dead man? Grandpa Harvey will accommodate you!"
The thieves were somewhat intimidated and stepped back, warily watching Harvey.
Harvey quickly took advantage of the time to gasp for air, desperately trying to restore his physical strength. Sweat streamed down his face to the ground, his whole body drenched.
Richard watched Harvey and raised his eyebrows slightly, already considering intervening personally.
To be honest, if he really did make a move, even if the number of thieves doubled, they wouldnât pose a threat to him. Even if an army with top-notch equipment came along, calling out Pandora, who was still making up for her time in Eden, would be enough to easily flatten them.
But then again, it was a bit of a loss.
Originally, he had followed the merchant group to minimize trouble, and was willing to pay three silver coins or even three gold coins for it. But now, he had spent the money and received the worst service imaginableâfalling into a battle that had absolutely nothing to do with himâliterally nothing.
Because it was so unrelated, once the merchants broke out of the thievesâ encirclement, they fled without any hesitation.
He had thought that perhaps a turnaround would occur, like the escaping merchants suddenly launching a counterattack, making his spent money worthwhile, but now it seemed... unlikely.
A flash of light gleamed in Richardâs eyes as he quickly scanned the surroundings with the Eye of Gaze, confirming there were no signs of the escaping merchant group returning. He had already decided to take matters into his own hands.
His hand slowly lifted, free energy elements surged, the air temperature around him increased, and a fireball was about to form in his palm.
But just as he withdrew his gaze, ready to focus on the numerous thieves, he suddenly spotted something "interesting" happening through the Eye of Gazeâs ability to see through things.
Hmm? Whatâs this!
A thought crossed Richardâs mind, and the flames about to take shape in his hand suddenly dissipated. He pursed his lips, a new idea forming.
