Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride
Synopsis
Champagne glasses shatter below. On the fourth-floor terrace of her own engagement banquet, Titus Zane leans against the cold railing, liquor burning her throat, mascara smudged by the wind instead of tears.
Across from her stands Nathan Moore, the man she is about to marry for the sake of two powerful families—and the man whose heart has always belonged to someone else. His tie is perfect, his gaze flat as glass.
“Let’s trade,” she tells him, voice hoarse. “If I jump, and I live, you let me go.”
He answers with a single, indifferent word. Permission or sentence—it’s hard to tell. Titus laughs, soft and ruined, opens her arms to the night, and falls. When the guests finally notice, all that’s left on the platform is a tilted wineglass and one high heel, still warm from her foot.
Surviving the fall doesn’t save her. It only tears the curtain down.
Piece by piece, Titus learns that the woman who raised her is not her mother but her father’s long-time mistress, the one who helped destroy the gentle, unseen woman who died bringing Titus into the world. Every tender gesture, every lullaby, every carefully prepared bowl of soup hides a single, cold intention: Titus’s healthy heart.
Bound to a ruthless CEO in a marriage signed with blood and secrets, Titus and Nathan are forced into the same house, the same bed, with nothing shared between them but a contract and their bruised pride. Their bodies and histories are untainted, but the lies around them are not.
What grows between them is slow and halting, built in silence, midnight arguments, and the small mercy of someone finally choosing to stay. Love here is not a gift. It is the last, fragile thing they build out of everything meant to break them.
