Chapter 53 - Promotion!

Zhou Yu returned home at eleven o’clock at night.

The whole Lin Family was in the living room.

Seeing Zhou Yu come back, Lin Chaodong and Bai Yuzhen had smiles all over their faces.

Lin Luoluo and Lin Wanhao, however, wore expressionless faces.

Bai Yuzhen said gently with a smile,

“Zhou Yu, have you eaten?

Let me make you some supper.”

Zhou Yu shook his head and replied with a smile,

“Thank you, Aunt Bai, but I’ve already eaten.”

Lin Chaodong chuckled and said,

“Zhou Yu, come over and sit.”

Zhou Yu walked over and sat next to Lin Chaodong.

Lin Chaodong said with a smile,

“Luoluo told me about everything that happened at the company these past two days.

I didn’t expect so much to happen in such a short span of time.

We owe you a lot; otherwise, the group would have faced serious trouble.”

“Given the multiple issues currently facing the group, I plan to have you take over the group’s disciplinary inspection and security work.

Zhou Yu, I want to ask for your opinion.”

Before Zhou Yu could speak, Lin Wanhao became anxious.

Although his attitude towards Zhou Yu had changed, it was limited to agreeing to let him stay with the Lin Family.

Now, the old man was actually going to entrust such an important task to Zhou Yu, clearly not giving up the idea of letting Zhou Yu take charge of the Lin Group.

Of course, he had to stop it.

“Dad, isn’t this a bit too hasty?”

“Didn’t Luoluo just say that he merely got lucky, without really helping much?”

If he wants to hold a high position in the group, brute strength alone is not enough.”

Lin Chaodong rebuked,

“Do you think Zhou Yu is less intelligent than you?

Why didn’t you discover the issue with Chang Yuan?”

Lin Wanhao was at a loss for words.

Lin Luoluo then spoke,

“Grandfather, Zhou Yu indeed helped a bit, but these two positions are core leadership roles in the group.

He’s just recently joined the company, and such a rapid promotion of over ten levels could be hard for others to accept.”

Zhou Yu began to understand.

So, the urgent summoning for him to return was because the old man wanted him to take on a higher position.

However, it was clear that Lin Wanhao and Lin Luoluo still held prejudices against him.

The good thing was that judging from Lin Luoluo’s tone, her prejudices against him seemed to have diminished a lot.

It seems his efforts over the past few days had not been in vain.

However, Zhou Yu himself had no desire to be an executive.

That was too much trouble; he felt much more comfortable staying in the fourth engineering department.

As the Lin Family argued among themselves, Zhou Yu spoke up.

“Grandfather, I think President Lin is right.

Besides, I’m not very familiar with the group’s affairs.

How about we talk about this later?”

At Zhou Yu’s words, the Lin Family members instantly quieted down.

Both Lin Wanhao and Lin Luoluo did not expect Zhou Yu to decline proactively.

Lin Wanhao gave a cold snort.

“At least he knows his limits.”

He caught on that Zhou Yu had no intention of staying in the Lin Group for long.

However, Lin Chaodong had not given up; even if he couldn’t keep the person, it was good to keep a connection.

Lin Chaodong’s eyes darted about as he said,

“How about this, Zhou Yu, you’ll become the group’s head of security, primarily responsible for Luoluo’s safety and overseeing the group’s security operations.

Additionally, I’ll grant you a special authority to make any decision on my behalf when necessary.”

Upon hearing this, both Lin Luoluo and Lin Wanhao were taken aback.

Make decisions on behalf of the old man?

That authority was too great.

Yet Zhou Yu’s mouth curved up slightly.

This suited him.

“Grandfather, I’ll follow your arrangements.”

“Then that’s settled,” Lin Chaodong said, smiling.

Lin Luoluo grew anxious.

“Grandfather, how can you do this?

How can you let him make decisions for you?

Besides, I don’t need him to protect my safety.”

“Yeah, Dad, isn’t this too childish?”

Lin Chaodong slammed the table and shouted angrily.

Why do you oppose everything I say now?
