Chapter 6 - Like Father Like Daughter!

Lin Chaodong’s study.

Lin Chaodong and Zhou Yu were deep in conversation when Lin Wanhao’s voice came from outside the door.

“Dad, it’s late.

You should rest.”

Lin Chaodong looked at his watch and realized it was already past eleven o’clock at night.

He had an apologetic expression on his face.

“Zhou Yu, sorry, the elderly tend to be talkative.

I didn’t realize it’s gotten so late.

You should go to sleep as well.”

Zhou Yu shook his head, indicating it was fine.

Lin Chaodong walked out with Zhou Yu.

Lin Wanhao had been waiting outside the study, and as he saw the two emerge, he quickly went to meet them.

“Dad, with your health, you shouldn’t stay up so late.”

Lin Chaodong chuckled.

“It’s okay, I’m happy today.”

“By the way, where’s Luoluo?”

“Luoluo has already gone up to rest.”

“Dad, there’s something…”

Lin Wanhao hesitated for a moment, planning to tell the old man about Huang Zongsheng’s poisoning attempt.

But after a second thought, considering the old man had just coughed up blood, Lin Wanhao decided not to tell him just yet.

He shook his head and said:

You should go rest early.”

Lin Chaodong didn’t notice anything unusual about Lin Wanhao and smiled,

“Wanhao, you go ahead and take Zhou Yu upstairs to rest.”

“Okay, Dad.”

“I’ve already had someone tidy up the guest room.

I’ll just…”

“No.”

Lin Chaodong interjected abruptly.

“Take Zhou Yu to Luoluo’s bedroom.

They’re about to get married; there’s no need for separate rooms.

They should live together and foster a good relationship.”

Lin Chaodong’s words not only stunned Lin Wanhao but also made Zhou Yu pause for a moment.

This old man is quite bold.

Lin Wanhao looked frustrated.

“Dad, how can this be appropriate…”

“That settles it,” Lin Chaodong said decisively, not open to refusal.

“Then, Dad, you should rest early too.”

Having no choice, Lin Wanhao agreed.

After escorting the old man to his room, Lin Wanhao turned around, looking coldly at Zhou Yu.

“You, come with me.”

Lin Wanhao didn’t take Zhou Yu directly to Lin Luoluo’s bedroom but to his own study instead.

Even though he now knew that his daughter’s poisoning was unrelated to Zhou Yu, for some reason, he just couldn’t stand the sight of him.

As soon as they entered, Lin Wanhao spoke sternly:

“Kid, I don’t know what method you used to bewitch the old man, but let me tell you, you and Luoluo are impossible!”

“I will investigate your background and intentions.

Once I find any evidence of your malice, I will make sure you die a terrible death.”

Zhou Yu could see that Lin Wanhao was thoroughly displeased with him, and realized further explanation was futile.

“Alright, I understand,” Zhou Yu nodded and said.

“Also, don’t think that just because the old man has your back, you can mess around in the Lin Family.

If you dare touch Luoluo, I will break your hands.”

I didn’t realize the father-in-law was such a tough guy.

But it seems he doesn’t have the insight of the villagers.

After all, in Taoyuan Village, those uncles couldn’t wait to marry off their daughters to him.

Zhou Yu nodded again.

“Alright, I understand.”

After a series of threats, Lin Wanhao couldn’t see even a trace of fear on Zhou Yu’s face, which only infuriated him more, yet he was helpless to do anything about it.

In the end, he could only lead Zhou Yu with a dark face and knock on Lin Luoluo’s bedroom door.

When Lin Luoluo saw the two men at her door, she was utterly dumbfounded.

“Dad, what are you…”

“Grandfather said you two should spend the night together,” Lin Wanhao said in a heavy tone.

“What?”

Lin Luoluo’s face went through a sudden change, subconsciously tightening her nightgown.

“Don’t worry, I’ve already made it clear to him, he wouldn’t dare touch you.”

After speaking, Lin Wanhao turned and left.

Zhou Yu looked at Lin Luoluo and smiled slightly.

“Wife, may I come in now?”

Lin Luoluo stared at Zhou Yu, feeling very conflicted inside.

The poisoning had nothing to do with Zhou Yu, and moreover, Zhou Yu had saved her.

Logically, she should be grateful to Zhou Yu.

But the thought of her grandfather forcing her to marry Zhou Yu made her extremely resistant.

“Please show some respect when you speak.

I’m not your wife.”

Indeed, like father, like daughter; their way of threatening people was practically carved from the same mold.

Zhou Yu shrugged and said,

“Your father already gave me a similar speech just now.”

“If there’s nothing else, I will go rest.”

As Zhou Yu spoke, he walked toward the bed.

Lin Luoluo’s face changed.

“You are not allowed on my…”

Before she could finish, she realized that Zhou Yu had bypassed the bed heading straight for the balcony.

“Don’t bother me tonight if there’s nothing important,”

Zhou Yu left those words and then sat cross-legged on the balcony.

Ever since the old man started teaching him martial arts twenty years ago, Zhou Yu had not slept in a bed; every night, he would meditate and cultivate his qi, which had become a habit.

Observing Zhou Yu’s actions, a hint of surprise flickered through Lin Luoluo’s eyes.

She was curious, but she didn’t speak up.

That night, Lin Luoluo, worrying Zhou Yu might have designs on her, slept very poorly.

The next day.

“Good morning!”

Zhou Yu came in from the balcony, full of energy, and greeted with a smile.

Seeing Lin Luoluo’s dark circles, Zhou Yu said with a laugh,

“Miss Lin, it seems you didn’t sleep well.

If you need, I can give you a check-up; my medical skills are pretty good.”

Upon hearing this, Lin Luoluo immediately got angry and said,

“Who needs your check-up, you pervert!”

Zhou Yu, at a loss, shook his head and walked out.

The Lin Family was sitting at the dining table having breakfast.

Lin Chaodong had a smile all over his face.

“Zhou Yu, how was your rest last night?”

Zhou Yu replied with a smile, “Grandfather, I rested very well.”

“That’s good.”

“By the way, Luoluo, don’t rush to work after breakfast.

Go with Zhou Yu to buy a couple of formal outfits for when Zhou Yu starts working at the company.”

Lin Luoluo hadn’t spoken when Lin Wanhao exclaimed in surprise,

“Dad, are you letting this kid work at the company?”

“What about it?” Lin Chaodong raised his eyebrows.

Lin Wanhao’s face twitched, then he said,

“Dad, you should be very clear about the company’s hiring requirements.

This kid has no education or diploma, how can he get a job?”

“Besides, those stubborn old men at the company are always watching you, just waiting for you to slip up.

If you use your power to get him into the company, it could give people a pretext, and those old men would target you.”

“Dad, I think this is not appropriate.”
