One Bed with the Boss
Synopsis
The night my boss forgot my birthday for the third year in a row, I seriously considered using a stapler on his favorite body part.
Rhys Kingswood doesn’t notice birthdays. Or weekends. Or the way I’ve quietly arranged my entire life around his calendar. He notices contracts, crises, and the exact minute his coffee is two degrees too cold. He’s the country’s most obsessive, terminally grouchy billionaire, and I’m the assistant who keeps his empire from catching fire.
For three years, I’ve ignored the fit of his shirts and the way his gaze lingers when he thinks I’m not looking. I have a boyfriend, a five-year plan, and a very strict personal policy: never, ever fall for the boss.
Then a tabloid scandal explodes, his terrifying grandmother demands he “settle down,” and a hotel in Tokyo hands us a single key.
One room. One bed. One impossible request: Rhys wants me to pretend to be his girlfriend.
I turn him down on principle.
And then I walk in on my actual boyfriend enthusiastically sampling someone else’s tonsils, and suddenly my infuriating employer is the only thing standing between me and being publicly pitied.
So I say yes.
I know exactly what I’m signing up for: a fake relationship, too much proximity, a man who swears feelings are inefficient. I know better than to trust the soft way he says I’m irreplaceable, or the rough way he shows me what “welcome home” means on his knees.
I know all the rules.
But rules don’t mean much when you’re alone in your bathroom at dawn, holding a pregnancy test that insists you and your boss have just changed each other’s lives for good.
