Chapter 81 - Wealthy District

Chen Yang, bored to death, sat on the sofa skimming around aimlessly, when he found his gaze inadvertently drawn to the drama Yang Ruoxi was holding.

Chen Yang had assumed that Yang Ruoxi was scrolling through those popular TV dramas or web series that were trending now.

But to his surprise, what Yang Ruoxi was watching were various documentaries about wildlife and the mysterious scenery deep in the mountains.

Although Chen Yang seldom watched TV, he was very interested in these kinds of shows.

Without realizing it, Chen Yang found himself watching intently with his head tilted to one side.

After watching for a while, Yang Ruoxi seemed to notice Chen Yang’s gaze and took the initiative to ask, “Are you also interested in these documentaries and wild animals?”

“Hmm… they’re okay,” Chen Yang answered expressionlessly.

“There must be a lot of wildlife in your mountains, right?

Can you tell me, are they really like what’s shown on TV?” Yang Ruoxi asked again.

Yang Ruoxi seemed to have a great love for wildlife and the mountains.

Once Yang Ruoxi heard all about it, her eyes filled with longing.

“That sounds so interesting.

If only I could go into the mountains to play.

I really want to see what those wild animals are like,” Yang Ruoxi said with a slight pout and a hint of sadness in her eyes.

“If you want to go into the mountains, you can come to me.

There’s a big mountain right behind my house,” Chen Yang quickly said.

“Really?” Yang Ruoxi’s eyes lit up, and she immediately perked up!

But before Chen Yang could say more, she seemed to remember something and deflated.

“Ah, it won’t work!

My cousin and grandfather definitely wouldn’t allow it.

They think the mountains are too dangerous.”

Watching Yang Ruoxi’s excitement ebb and flow, Chen Yang couldn’t help but find it funny.

“Actually, the mountains are not as dangerous as you think.

Most of the wildlife generally does not have an aggressive nature!” Chen Yang laughed.

And just at that moment, Li Han had almost finished dealing with her documents.

She stood up from her work seat and walked out with a smile, “It looks like you two are having a good talk.

What were you talking about just now?”

Chen Yang said he could take me into the mountains to play!

And it’s so much fun there, even more than in the TV dramas!”

Before Chen Yang could speak, Yang Ruoxi excitedly interrupted him.

She also directly brought up what Chen Yang had said about being able to take her into the mountains, seemingly using him as a shield while also using his words to gauge Li Han’s reaction.

They then got into Li Han’s car.

Li Han drove, with Yang Ruoxi in the passenger seat, and Chen Yang sitting in the back.

The car roared to life and then drove out of the underground garage of Lintianxia, heading towards the wealthy villa district of the county town.

Along the way, Yang Ruoxi remained fixated on what Chen Yang had said earlier, constantly turning her head to chat with him.

“Chen Yang, there are so many animals in the mountains; have you ever raised some that are particularly fierce?” Yang Ruoxi blinked her curious eyes and asked Chen Yang.

“I raised some when I was younger, but they weren’t any fierce animals,” Chen Yang considered for a moment before answering.

“So what did you raise?”

“Just some dogs, little squirrels, birds, and other small animals.”

“Oh, they must have been really fun, right?”

Yang Ruoxi continued to inquire, and Chen Yang nodded: “Yeah, there is a lot of fun in caring for small animals, probably more fun than what city folks experience with their pets.”

Li Han, who was driving, could hear the entire conversation between Chen Yang and Yang Ruoxi.

Listening to their exchange, Li Han, who initially had no particular interest, seemed to be getting intrigued.

She too started to join in the questioning, asking Chen Yang various questions about the mountains.

“Chen Yang, do you have wild fruit in your mountains?

They must be really sweet!”

“Yes, they’re very sweet!”

“Chen Yang, do you have reservoirs or ponds over there?

The water must be crystal clear down to the bottom, right?”

“There are ponds!

And indeed, the water quality is really fresh.”

Both women asked questions all the way, and Chen Yang patiently responded to their queries.

Chen Yang looked out the window for a moment, and ultimately, the car entered the largest villa at the very end of the district.

That was Li Han’s home.

Getting out of the car, Chen Yang surveyed the surroundings.

In the courtyard of the villa, there were many flowers and plants, and also a small fountain in front of the house.

Although all the villas they passed were luxurious, Chen Yang guessed that Li Han’s must be the most extravagant in the entire wealthy district.

“Chen Yang, this way, please.”

Li Han’s voice resonated near him.

It snapped Chen Yang out of his reverie.

“Okay.”

Chen Yang nodded, then followed Li Han into the villa.
