Chapter 398: Chapter 30: The Biochemical Clan and the Insect Clan! Big Mosquito stood in the middle of this towering building lobby. The decorations on the ceiling had nothing in common with the styles on Earth.
The lobby was so spacious that he could fly around in it, but there were only around 20 staff members. Because of the limited number of staff working, those strange alien life forms were all queuing up in a line. Under the instruction of the working staff, they were undertaking some identification processes.
Big Mosquito realized that he had been quite "rude" - he had jumped the queue, and those life forms lined up one after the other dared to be angry, but didnât dare to voice it out....
Soon, the female-looking creature who had been talking to Daphne led Jia Yan to a huge window.
Inside the window, there was a man who, upon first glance, caused Jia Yanâs face to change color!
This man possessed a powerful brainwave. In just a blink of an eye, Jia Yan had sensed this guyâs brainwave power was not beneath Daphneâs at full strength. In fact, it might even be one or two times stronger!
Jia Yan promptly released the brainwave power that had been binding Daphneâs neck, fearing the other party might notice it.
The role Jia Yan was playing now was that of a battle pet!
Setting aside whether a battle pet can possess brainwave power, if it does, binding that brainwave power around its âmasterâsâ neck would be seen as quite suspicious by any astute people!
Nothing unexpected happened afterward. Jia Yan listened to the conversation between Daphne and the man. After what seemed like a simple verification, they once again received something resembling a business card.
They didnât stick around, and on Daphneâs signal, Jia Yan started leaving the building, his feet seemingly moving slowly, but actually rather swiftly.
"What were you guys talking about earlier?!"
No sooner had they left the vicinity than Jia Yanâs murderous voice reached Daphneâs ear.
"Oh, my dear master, didnât you know thatâs not how you get girls to like you?" Hearing Jia Yanâs cautious words, Daphne heaved a long sigh.
It seems that even if Big Mosquito doesnât start the conversation, she would want to teach Jia Yan the language of the Auster people; otherwise, she might go mad from his overly-cautious attitude!
She explained briefly that they had gone through some form of identification. Daphne made up some excuses to deceive the man.
In reality, this Outer City full of people of unknown origin. The authorities here turned a blind eye to these people. After all, this was just a war planet. If they kept too tight a check, who would be willing to come and work here?
"The circumstances are different from what I had guessed. This planet has changed over the past few centuries. But nowâs not the time to talk about it. What we need to do now is find somewhere to settle in the city.", Daphne spoke to Jia Yan with a stern expression as she discussed the current situation.
When she had been observing her surroundings earlier, she managed to indirectly glean some information from others about the current state of the planet. However, things turned out to be completely different from what she had expected!
Nevertheless, she didnât mention anything to Big Mosquito about it because that was something to ponder over later.
Finding a place suitable for Big Mosquito to stay in this city was not easy, and they had to slowly look around.
And right after they finished all of these and successfully acquired a satisfactory identity,
on the cityâs periphery, not far off, a few rat-like creatures that resembled enlarged Earth versions, under the expulsion of the law-enforcement flying vehicle, grudgingly disappeared into the bushes one after another.
The tension that had been present in the flying vehicle finally eased.
"%%##@@&&&!", a man worriedly voiced his concerns at that moment.
His words earned the agreement of the others. However, the female sheriff could only sigh in resignation, massaging her temples and uttering some comforting words to her subordinates.
However, unbeknownst to this group of humans, those rat-like creaturesâ eyes were now sparkling brilliantly. One of them made a squeaking noise, and the remaining two followed suit, swiftly and silently dashing in the direction of the jungle ahead.
Their destination was the enormous city that stood veiled yet tantalizing under the glaring, dusty sunshine!
Jia Yan and his companion had no idea that after departing from the battlefield, several alien beings resembling mice were in hot pursuit.
With their newly acquired temporary identities, they could finally enjoy some leisure time in this place.

Strolling on the streets of this outer city area, Big Mosquito delicately planted its long, narrow six legs on the ground.
Obviously, the terrain here had undergone special treatment; otherwise, creatures like Jia Yan could easily ruin the entire surface with his stroll.
The sight of Big Mosquitoâs enormous size left the alien beings that surrounded them dumbstruck, for to them, such a colossal being was indeed a rare spectacle!
Yet, both Jia Yan and Funi paid no mind to their pointing and whispering. After all, as a giant mosquito, Jia Yan had long become accustomed to peopleâs prejudiced stares on Earth, and Funi, who had lived on Earth for so long as an extraterrestrial ambassador, was now beyond the phase where she couldnât handle such attention! How else could she manipulate the entirety of Earthâs human population as a representative of an advanced civilization?!
However, as they were being stealthily observed by these aliens, Jia Yan and Funi were also sizing up the city.
The architectural style here was vastly different from Earthâs, with a stronger touch of science fiction. But this was not intentional; it was merely a byproduct of their civilizationâs advanced technology.
Skyscrapers shot up from the ground, many of them reaching a height of seven or eight hundred meters. Teeming with people coming and going, each of these buildings was like a small city in itself.
The sky was dotted with small aircraft, mostly similar to Earthâs sedans. They were propelled by something resembling sonic waves, which continuously sprayed a type of air that seemed to warp space. Notwithstanding, their primary source of power did not rely on these air waves; instead, it depended on an anti-gravity system whose principles Jia Yan couldnât comprehend.
Large vehicles, like police cars, that were dozens of meters long were few, and this city didnât reach Jia Yanâs expectations of an advanced alien civilization!
The aliens too looked much the same, some of them bearing a very distraught and wretched appearances. Since this place was a so-called slum, aliens that seemed to lead a tough life were in majority.
Most of the aliens that resided here belonged to the Auster species, which resembled humans from Earth. The rest resembled peculiar beasts and couldnât look more different from Jia Yan in appearance. Among these creatures, Jia Yan even spotted a life form resembling the frog monster he had seen earlier!
However, the frog-like creature at present didnât seem as primitive. Instead, dressed in a neat outfit, it appeared rather sophisticated and spoke a language closely similar to Funiâs.
As both had a limited understanding of this place, Funi had been sharing everything she knew about it with Jia Yan while they walked around.
Gradually, Jia Yan realized that this planet seemed to be devoid of any considerable presence of Funiâs âEmpireâ, whether it was due to defeat or some other reason was unclear.
Sure enough, the primary builders of this city were the Auster people. The existence of such a city on this planet was managing to thrive because the opposing side of the war had given their consent.
The warring factions consisted of the military force of the Auster civilization on one side, while on the other, was an allied army known as the âBiochemical Clanâ and the âInsect Clanâ.
Funi appeared puzzled when she spoke of these two races because she could not find any information about these two civilizations in her knowledge database!
However, based on the previous battle and snippets of information Funi got from others talking about the Biochemical Clan and the Insect Clan, she deduced that their forces might actually be no less formidable than the Auster civilization. The two factions had been engaged in warfare against the Auster people for more than two hundred years!
So it turns out there were things that even Funi did not know of! (To be continued. If you like this work, feel free to recommend or upvote it at qidian.com. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Mobile users, please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
