Chapter 1110: No Questions? As the two teens continued their ridiculous back-and-forth, the real storm brewed at the center.
Quinlan stepped forward. The air itself bent, shimmering as elements bled into existence, flames dancing in one palm, water shifting across the other.
He gestured for his girls to stay behind and continued walking toward the black-haired woman.
âIâm the boss of this place.â
The moment Quinlan declared himself, Raikaâs body shifted seamlessly into a battle stance. Her shoulders rolled forward, her hands flexed, and her feet planted. The serpentine tattoos etched across her arms and stomach began writhing with her mounting battle intent.
Her entire body oozed an endless desire for combat.
However, Quinlanâs stride never faltered. His pace was unhurried, his expression unreadable as the storm of elements weaved tighter around him. Fire hissed, water swirled.
âYour first instinct is to fight me, hmm?â he asked evenly. âNot ask where you are? What we want? How you got here?â
He paused just long enough to tilt his head to the side as his gaze sharpened. âOr where your master is?â
That last word hit her like a hammer to the skull.
Raikaâs eyes narrowed, and her emotionless expression showed signs of cracks for the first time. Memories came flooding in. The invasion of Black Fangâs home. The samurai woman and her Fujimori allies cutting through their defenses. Lilithâs adventurer party pressing the advantage using their teamwork cultivated through centuries of combat.
She remembered Oriannaâs death cry as she fell, but took an entire Fujimori squad down with her. She remembered standing back-to-back with Black Fang. She remembered fighting until her lungs burned and her vision blurred, only for the enemyâs numbers to keep swelling.
Her jaw tightened.
Mana exploded around her, raw and brutal. The ground beneath her boots began to shake with the pressure she was exerting now. Her aura was jagged, untamed, radiating a primal threat.
âIâll get the answers I want after Iâve subjugated you. People are less inclined to lie once theyâve been beaten into submission.â
For a moment, silence reigned.
Then Quinlan chuckled. A short, dry sound that cut sharper than any blade.
âStill the same cavewoman I remember.â
But his amusement didnât last long. In the next second, his eyes hardened. Power flared from his body like a rising sun, matching Raikaâs own.
âSo be it. Truth be told, Iâve wanted to beat some manners into you ever since the first time we met.â
The ground trembled as their auras clashed, the very air quaking between them.
It was no longer a question of whether they would fight.
It was already war.
Raika lunged first. A blur of muscle and inked fury, her fist cut through the air with enough force to split stone.
It never landed.
Quinlanâs hand shot out and caught her strike clean. The shockwave rippled outward, scattering dust and grass, but his grip didnât falter. His gaze dropped to her balled fist, then rose to her face.
His expression darkened, turning ominous. He became visibly infuriated with what he was seeing.
âYouâre still disrespecting me, huhâŚâ
âThat ends today.â
Power erupted. Not a flare, but a detonation. His aura expanded like an ocean breaking free of its dam, all four elements howling in his veins.
Raika snarled in response, wrenching her fist free and swinging with her other arm. But this timeâŚ
Quinlanâs eyes exploded into a blinding emerald blaze.
A monstrous gust of wind burst forth from his body, a hurricane compressed into a heartbeat. Raikaâs punch never even reached him, for she was already being hurled backward. Her feet ground trenches into the earth before the force became so overwhelming that it tore her off her feet entirely.
However, getting the upper hand against this woman was easier said than done. Sheâs fought against not only numerous enemies but also been beaten by her elder sisters and master as well on a nearly daily basis. Her battle instincts have been honed to perfection, and her bodyâs coordination was far too seamless.
Raika spun in the air, flipping her body to stabilize. But the moment her feet angled to land, the ground betrayed her.
*BOOM!*
A massive pillar of stone erupted right beneath her, catching her in the air and hurling her higher into the skies.
Her instincts screamed.
Get off this thing!
Her muscles tensed, and with a feral roar, she kicked. The pillar cracked and shattered under the force of her legs, exploding into fragments as Raika sent herself diving downward.
But she wasnât allowed to land.
Quinlan hadnât moved a single step. He stood where he was, eyes cold, arms loose at his sides. And yetâŚ
The battlefield shifted again. Or, to be more accurate, it became the chaos at his command.
Dozens of stone pillars erupted from the ground beneath Raika, shooting toward the sky with breakneck speed. Blades of wind hammered at her from all directions, each one strong enough to bruise her flesh. Sharp, pressurized streams of water carved through the air, crisscrossing her descent.
The sky itself was turning into her grave.
But Raika hadnât yet learned the word surrender.
With a second roar, she pulled every drop of mana into her core. Her tattoos began burning with light. Her fist cocked back, gathering power until the air itself warped around her arm. Then, she unleashed it.
A colossal punch ripped through the air. A tidal wave of raw force exploded outward, obliterating the incoming assaults. Wind blasts scattered, stone pillars shattered to rubble, water blades burst into harmless spray. All of it reversed, thrown back toward Quinlan in a storm of debris and destruction.
But Quinlan only parted his arms.
Two titanic whirlwinds roared into being at his sides, spiraling upward. They swallowed the oncoming carnage whole, redirecting it away from the stronghold. Not a single shard touched his home.
And then⌠he rose.
His feet left the ground in silence.
âIf you had gone all out from the beginning, I wouldnât have been able to throw you into the air.â A cold smile played at the corner of his lips. âBut alas⌠my wife has told me you only learn through pain.â
Their gazes locked, predator meeting predator, neither blinking, neither yielding.
Then Quinlan spread his arms wide, and the air trembled.
âWelcome to my domain, Raika. Give me your all so the lessons I carve into your body today will never fade.â
