That was the exact moment when Black Fang ripped her blade free, making blood erupt in its wake. With a single flourish, she whipped the katana across the air. Blood sprayed in a wide arc, splattering Kaedeâs pale face with her own lifeâs crimson. The world seemed to shudder beneath the cruelty, the epitome of an executionerâs art; no hesitation, no wasted breath, only the merciless grasp of opportunity and instant victory.
Kaedeâs eyes widened, and her expression collapsed into raw defeat. She looked utterly broken before the light faded for good.
"No... not yet!"
Chizuruâs breath hitched. Her veneer shattered into pure panic the instant Kaedeâs heart was pierced. She fumbled at her robes until her hands tore free an ancient talisman carved with runes older than even Yoruha.
Black Fangâs instincts flared the moment the talisman left Chizuruâs robes. She dashed forward with her katana arcing in a lightning-fast strike.
But before she could close the distance, a wave of Fujimori soldiers jumped at her. Their faces were blank with determination and devoid of fear.
"Glory to the clan! Long live the Fujimori!"
They threw themselves at her with reckless abandon, screaming lines of utmost loyalty.
Black Fang hissed, releasing a venomous sound as she spun her blade in lethal slashes. Steel met flesh and bone, sending bodies flying in many small chunks. Blood spattered across the ground and her clothes, painting her in the carnage of her own devastating attacks.
Still, it was too late. The artifact pulsed violently, releasing a radiant shockwave that rippled from Chizuruâs hands.
Even as Black Fang severed one charging soldier after another, the energy reached the sword, its intended target. The bladeâs glow intensified, appearing as if hungering for more.
Chizuruâs voice broke into a shriek as she lifted the artifact high, spilling words in a harsh, guttural chant.
"By the will of the Fujimori, by the blood of our ancestors, let the clan rise above the weakness of one! To offer oneâs life for the greater good is the highest honor!"
In the same instant, hundreds of Fujimori collapsed where they stood. Young or old, it didnât matter. Flesh shriveled. Eyes hollowed. Bones cracked as bodies withered into husks. Their stolen vitality flowed upward in rivers of blinding light, funneling into the cursed sword.
The blade blazed like a newborn star. Its beautiful silver glow turned molten red, spilling raw energy into Kaedeâs body. Her body convulsed, jerking unnaturally as the stolen life rushed through her veins.
That was something Black Fang refused to permit.
Now free of suicidal nuisances, her blade flashed the moment the first spark entered Kaedeâs chest. She leaped forward with her katana whistling toward Kaedeâs neck in a strike meant to end all hope before it could bloom.
Steel shrieked against steel.
A barrier had appeared - no, not a barrier. Another sword, crossed with hers, blocked the killing blow with impeccable timing.
Black Fangâs dark purple eyes narrowed into a slit of irritation.
She scoffed as shadows spilled around her. A group of adventurers known by the entire continent, geared and bloodied, but standing strong. At their front, a tall, crimson-haired woman grinned, her blade pressed firm against Black Fangâs own.
"..." Black Fang was not one bit happy to see the Scarlet Lilies.
While she conducted a power struggle with Lilith, the rest of the womenâs team fanned out, surrounding Black Fang from all angles. Their formation was tight with the clear intention of cutting off Black Fangâs advance.
Bronnyaâs armor rattled as she shifted her stance. Blood streaked her cheek, while her arms were bruised from the skirmishes they had just left behind. She was panting heavily, sweaty. After all, sheâd just run hundreds of miles in the span of mere minutes.
"Damn... You were right, Void. Kaede truly tried to open a portal to us... Iâm amazed you sensed such a small thing."
Then her eyes moved to Black Fang, and seeing her current state, her expression darkened. "Curses... I didnât even get to swing at her properly. This wonât be a proper fight."
Jallen twirled her spear with elegance before she aimed it at Black Fang. "Count your lucky stars, Bronnya. If this were a true duel, Black Fang would slaughter you in an instant."
Bronnya laughed, a deep, rolling sound that shook the table. "You never know until you try, spear girl."
"Shut it already," Scar cut in with a flat tone. "You always talk so much at the worst times."
"... My sincerest apologies," Jallen chuckled.
Lilith disengaged her sword from Black Fangâs, and her eyes met the poisonous womanâs. "Iâm sorry, but I cannot allow you to kill Kaede. I made the deal of a lifetime with her, and I intend to see it honored."
From the edge, Void yawned, stretching her arms lazily. "Am I really... needed here?" she murmured with eyes still half-closed in pure sleepiness. It didnât take a genius to figure out that someone carried her here while she slept on their back.
Scar flicked a throwing knife at Kitsara, but the form wavered, rippling into smoke. "Illusion..." she muttered. "Those foxes are so damned irritating."
"What doesnât irritate you, shortie?" Bronnya broke into boisterous laughter, earning a murderous glare from the woman with a mask covering her face.
While this was going on, Jallenâs expression was full of admiration as she examined Black Fang. Now surrounded by five incredibly strong enemies, she never once showed signs of fear. In fact, she was preparing to fight them all together. "Youâre the most badass woman Iâve ever seen," she whispered, unable to hide her feelings.
Black Fang didnât answer; she ignored them all. Every ounce of her being was drawn to the fight ahead.
If today was to be her end, she would take as many as possible with her.
The air thickened around her. The five women of the Scarlet Lilies bristled in response with their own auras swelling. Despite their playful words, they had come to kill her.
A violent tremor shook the battlefield. A deep, resonant *KRRAAAASH!* echoed as the ground shattered. From the fissure, a shadowed form burst upward with impossible speed. Quinlan erupted from the earth like a living missile. Latest content publÄąshed on ????????????????????â????????????????â????????????
Before anyone could react, his hands snatched Black Fang and gripped her firmly.
Quinlan was a hungry opportunist, best evidenced by the fact that at the same time, a hundred small but incredibly sharp spikes shot upwards directly beneath Kaede to secure the kill. Their tips were coated with fire, ready to detonate inside her body once the spikes pierced her defenseless form.
But just before they could reach her back, the swordâs silver energies coated her entire body, breaking Quinlanâs spikes upon contact. The lingering explosions went off, but the silver coating protected the woman once again.
"Tch! What nonsense is that?!" Quinlan grumbled as he shot into the skies with the force of his launch, tearing the ground apart.
A mere moment later, a massive eruption of raw elemental energy blasted outward from the fissure, a chaotic mixture of fire and wind that was aimed directly at the five women.
Bronnyaâs armor shone red under fire as she planted herself, raising her shield and twisting her stance to absorb the impact.
Jallen spun her spear elegantly, making her hybrid healer-warrior classâs energies divert the worst of the blast.
Scarâs eyes glinted as she dodged with inhuman speed, letting her daggers intercept shards of energy mid-air.
Lilithâs sword hummed as she carved through the elemental storm, deflecting it all.
And Void... still half-asleep, yawned lazily and raised a hand, her magic forming a gentle but perfectly timed barrier that softened the elemental onslaught without breaking her calm.
The field trembled again as debris and magic collided. Lilithâs voice cut through the roar, sharp as her blade:
"Weâre giving chase! Void!"
