Chapter 1239: The Truth
Chapter 1237 of "Primordial Villain With A Slave Harem" commences with: "If you help her..." she said without raising her tone, "I will consider it a... Donât miss the next part!
"If you help her..." she said without raising her tone, "I will consider it a great disrespect to my person. I am not cruelly torturing your lover, Quinlan Elysiar. I am disciplining my student."His hand froze.
The magic halted before it could touch her.
He hesitated, caught in a genuine dilemma. Vex was his woman, no doubt about it, but Black Fang had a point.
He thought that what was going on between these two was akin to parents disciplining their children, namely, his other lovers who had parents. Aurora, Blossom, Seraphiel, Serika, Kitsara.
This relationship between child and parent was a line he wouldnât try to get between, not unless it became cruel, such as the parents being unreasonable with his girls.
If that happened, he was ready to intervene. But until then, he preferred to respect the bonds his girls shared with their loved ones.
Similarly, until Vex herself decided she no longer wanted to be Black Fangâs student, Quinlan felt he shouldnât interfere.
Every teacher has the right to discipline their student.
So he withdrew his hand.
The sound of steam filled the silence once more.
Black Fangâs gaze stayed locked on Vexâs. "Or do you not consider yourself my student anymore? Is that it?"
Vexâs breath hitched. The heat was unbearable now, every inhale scraping her lungs raw. Her vision blurred at the edges, sweat dripping from her chin in steady drops.
"No, thatâs not the case at all! I did my best to remain impartial... If I truly gave up on what the two of us have, then I couldâve told him more about you, things you consider deeply private... I didnât tell you Quinâs secrets, but neither have I told him yours!!"
"Is that so?"
Black Fang didnât seem to appreciate the response as much as Vex had hoped.
But it was understandable, after all, Black Fang was still treated like a hostile right now, someone who might lunge at Quinlan at any moment to demand information from him despite how fair sheâs been all this time.
Furthermore, being treated as an equally important person stung the ancient woman slightly as well... Why was their two centuries of shared past equalized by what Quinlan and Vex had?
They havenât even known each other for a year!
Black Fang didnât like this.
Quinlanâs hand moved. He gave Vexâs sensual belly a light smack.
"Go," he said with a faint smile. "Get some fresh air."
Vex spun around instantly, her hair whipping damply across her flushed face. "But!!"
He met her protest with an unshakable grin. "Itâll be okay. Sheâs earned my trust."
"Trust?!" Vexâs voice cracked. "You donât know the depths of this crazed womanâs lunacy! She got the Venomborne Terror class at three years of age, for the Bratty Goddessâs sake! Have you been listening, Quin? Youâve only seen a watered-down version of this psycho! Sheâs holding back! The real crazy hasnât come out yet!!"
Black Fangâs eyebrow twitched.
Quinlan didnât back down. "Itâs been a long time coming. Weâve fought side by side, bled together. I might as well treat her as a proper ally after all weâve been through."
Vexâs expression crumpled in a mixture of disbelief and dread. "You canât be serious..."
But then she looked at him, really looked, and saw the quiet determination in his eyes. That was the same look he wore whenever he made an unshakable choice. It hit her immediately: heâd decided. He no longer wanted to keep his secret from Black Fang.
Her throat tightened. Her hands balled into fists. And then, with a shuddering breath, she spun toward the most important woman in her life.
"If you dare hurt my husband," she hissed, "Iâll never forgive you."
It was a genuine threat, laced with fear and love in equal measure.
Black Fang simply held Vexâs gaze, seeing the raw, trembling devotion behind her words.
Vex didnât wait for a response. With a heavy, worried heart, she bolted for the door.
The blast of cool air outside hit her like true salvation. She stumbled forward, then dropped to her knees. The grass beneath her soaked up the sweat that poured off her skin.
Immediately, the soul maids rushed to her side. One carried a tray of chilled fruit water, another held a damp towel, and a third fanned her with careful hands.
"Lady Vex!"
"This is horrible!!"
"Iâm fine," Vex gasped between gulps of air.
The soul maids ignored her claim entirely, fussing around her like anxious attendants at a royal court.
And within the sauna, only two figures remained.
Black Fang.
And Quinlan.
The hiss of dying steam filled the silence between them.
Black Fang didnât speak.
Neither did Quinlan.
Their eyes met and held.
The air was so dense it felt alive, as if the sauna itself was waiting for what would be said next.
Finally, Quinlan exhaled, slow yet determined. "You want to know how my girls level up faster than logic dictates they should."
Black Fangâs only reaction was a subtle shift in her gaze. Those mesmerizing violet eyes sharpened.
He leaned back, the tension in his shoulders melting into acceptance. Between his parted legs, the thing Vex had so desperately tried to shield was now visible in all its defiant size and weight.
Yet, as the graceful, purposeful, and prideful woman that Black Fang was, her eyes didnât waver. She didnât look down, not caring one bit that he was in the nude. Her gaze remained locked on his face.
Quinlan raised one hand and snapped his fingers.
A shimmer of pale blue mana burst into existence before him, coalescing into a floating window of light.
Unlike mortals, whose system displays were bound to their inner sight, his could be projected, seen by anyone.
He began to navigate it calmly, flicking through menus with practiced ease until a particular spell came into the spotlight. He opened it.
Black Fangâs calm and composed composure instantly shattered.
