Chapter 84: Chapter 84: The Alien Who Could Tear Apart Cars by HandWu Qiuyi sat down but still glared fiercely at Nian and Wang, who consciously shrank into the corner, daring not to obstruct anyone’s view.

"Right, where did you find the chocolate?" Lin Pei asked.

At the mention of this, Wu Qiuyi paused and recounted the story.

Lin Pei and Ke Liang both looked bewildered.

"Why didn’t you try to answer the riddles?" Xu Huo asked.

"Because the people who came before us told us so," Lin Pei said, "They told us never to answer the questions, or else disaster would strike."

"Who would have thought that answering the questions would mean getting food?" Ke Liang said regretfully, "If I’d known that, I would have risked my life to give it a try, then Xiao Heng wouldn’t have starved to death!"

"That’s not right," Gu Yu said, "People are starving to death, wouldn’t they risk a gamble? Why would your companions rather starve?"

The three including Wu Qiuyi didn’t really know either because Xiao Heng entered the instance earliest. Though there were eight people when they entered, the fact that they couldn’t answer the riddles was something all seven of them had heard from Xiao Heng. It was said that the people who entered with him were all killed while attempting to solve the riddles, and even he wasn’t clear on what exactly happened, having survived in a daze.

"Just because of that reason, you didn’t even dare to try?" Gu Yu said in disbelief, "I was already on a reduced diet for a week before I came in, and if I had to be hungry for a few more days, let alone taking a risk, I would even be willing to resort to cannibalism!"

Nian and Wang curled up together.

"It’s not as simple as you say," Lin Pei said, "You know someone died while attempting the door, but you don’t know how he died."

"Wasn’t it killed by an Alien?" Shen Xin added.

"You’ll see in a moment."

The bus slowly made its way out of the small town and into the dense woods; after about half an hour, the large mechanical wall, covered by tall trees, became visible.

The massive metal wall, without any visible seams on its surface, curved around the outside of the forest. In the middle was a metal square frame about ten meters in height and width embedded at the bottom, right next to the track, but it lacked any common concepts of a door.

It had no handles or switches, nor any carved hints, looking like mere lines drawn on the wall.

Is this also a door?

"That’s the East Gate," Lin Pei said, "Do you see the scratch marks on the gate?"

There were a few faint and unremarkable marks on the edge of the gate.

"These don’t look like marks left by a vehicle," Xu Huo examined closely.

"Exactly," Lin Pei nodded, "Back then, Big Brother Liu brought an old car to ram the gate, but the car didn’t leave a single mark upon impact. Instead, the noise attracted an Alien. Later, when we came to check, we confirmed that the marks were made by nails."

He looked somewhat fearful, and only after the bus continued along the wall for a while longer, revealing the pile of debris in the underbrush, did he continue, "That’s the car that Big Brother Liu used."

Xu Huo’s expression changed slightly, and he slowly stood up.

The heap in the underbrush bore no resemblance to a car. Every part was torn and tattered, not as if it had been cut but rather as though it had been forcefully ripped and bent. The broken edges were irregularly curled, and some of the fragments had holes as if punctured by fingers, with the surrounding area showing the undulating impression of a palm.

"This isn’t the same Alien as the one from the clock shop," he immediately said.

The handprints and footprints left by the alien in the clock shop were larger than those of an average person, but the strength should not have reached this extent.

"I’ve seen the alien in the clock shop," Wu Qiuyi said, "I think it must be a completely different type of alien."

"They say it’s an alien, but its palms aren’t much different from normal humans," Gu Yu shivered, "Tearing a car apart with bare hands? It’s like a humanoid monster!"

"No wonder some people would rather starve to death than take the risk."

The atmosphere in the car became tense for a moment, as the vast discrepancy in strength inevitably led to feelings of despair.

"But why did you guys come out unscathed after solving the riddle at the clock shop?" Shen Yi turned to look at Xu Huo, "This might be a breakthrough."

Lin Pei and the others perked up, looking intently at Xu Huo and Wu Qiuyi.

Wu Qiuyi was at a loss, as she had almost been led by the nose from the moment she failed to stop Xu Huo from throwing the doll.

"It might just be luck, there are many of these puzzle mechanisms in the town, perhaps not all of them are death traps."

"How can we tell them apart?" Shen Xin asked with disappointment, "We can’t just try them one by one, can we?"

"Tell us in detail, we can put our heads together and maybe find some clues," Lin Pei said.

Wu Qiuyi repeated the story, and after pondering for a moment, Lin Pei said, "The problem might have to do with the number of people, there were only two of you."

"Right," Ke Liang slapped his thigh, "This town doesn’t allow three people to be in a public place at the same time, maybe that’s why Xiao Heng’s companions were all killed! It must be the case!"

Wu Qiuyi wasn’t so sure, her eyes subconsciously shifting to Xu Huo, who was frowning and lost in thought, she asked in a softer voice, "What do you think?"

Xu Huo’s expression darkened slightly, "We need to find a way to lure the alien out and either kill or trap it."

"Have you gone mad!" Gu Yu blurted out, and the others looked incredulous, who would want to face the aliens in town after seeing that pile of debris?

"Do you guys have any other ideas?" Xu Huo swept his gaze across the group, calmly saying, "The walls outside the town are all this indestructible metal, and there’s nothing on the surface to grip, with a height surpassing seventy meters. Aside from opening the gate, there’s no other way out of the town."

"We still don’t know how to open the main gate, but any attempt to investigate will surely alert the alien."

"Unless we can find the mechanism to open the gate and it does so silently, otherwise, the players and the alien are bound to face each other head-on."

"Rather than being attacked, we might as well figure out a way to kill the alien, which would make our actions easier."

Lin Pei saw he wasn’t just talking nonsense, he exhaled and said, "Indeed, that could be a way to strike at the roots, and killing the alien would allow us to move freely in the town."

"But how do we kill the alien?" Shen Xin’s gaze lingered on their faces, "We’re obviously no match."

"We don’t necessarily have to kill it, trapping it would do," Wu Qiuyi said, "As long as we find a place to confine the alien, that would be a success."

"But we’ve looked over the buildings in the town these past days, there’s nothing particularly sturdy," Ke Liang said, "And even if there was, with what would we block the doors and windows?"

The alien that tore apart a car could leave scratches on the metal walls that the car couldn’t even dent—what could ordinary steel do against it?

"Is there a map of the town?" Xu Huo asked.
