"Saying you donāt use your brain is actually an understatement; a phone call to the guards, and what, you think you can grow wings and fly away?" Max Locke seemed to be scolding his son, but in fact, he was giving him a clever suggestion. In the Military District compound, there are guards standing watch at the main gate in shiftsājust one command, and anyone who isnāt a resident family member, no matter who they are, can be detained within minutes.
Titus Zane was truly frustrated, inexplicably dragged by a stranger to meet his parents, and inexplicably disliked, now she wanted to leave and was inexplicably stopped.
Notice, unauthorized departure of unrelated personnel from the Military District compound is forbidden.
No matter how she explained, they wouldnāt let her pass!
She wanted to call Alder Locke, but she didnāt know his number, so with no other choice, she had to turn back the way she came.
At the Locke Family residence, after alerting the guards, Alder Locke lounged comfortably in the sofa chair.
With one hand resting on the back of the chair nibbling on an apple, a long leg casually draped over his other knee, shaking away.
The military-bred patriarch detested his grandsonās careless demeanor the most; he tapped his cane heavily on the Marble floor and vented his anger at his own son.
"Finnian, look at this outstanding son youāve raised. No proper way to sit, idling his time away outside is one thing, but now bringing home all sorts of questionable women!"
As soon as the patriarchās words fell, Alder Locke, unwilling to listen, stopped his apple-nibbling and sat up straight to argue with his grandfather.
"Grandpa, Titus Zane is not some questionable woman; sheās a decent office worker, an executive assistant at State Element Ltd.!"
"Hmph! I donāt care if sheās an assistant or not; I donāt like the look of her!" The patriarch snorted and turned his face away in a huff.
Max Locke sat in a single-seat armchair, his posture upright, just as one would expect from a military man.
"Dad, calm down. I think the kid isnāt bad."
"Not bad?" The patriarch glared and huffed coldly, "Hmph, itās only because she resembles..." The patriarch halted mid-sentence, mindful that his daughter-in-law was nearby, but still cast a stern look at his son.
Alder Locke picked up on a hint of subtle information from what his grandfather left unsaid, put down his crossed leg, leaned forward, and asked with a hint of intrigue.
"Grandpa, who do you think Titus Zane resembles?"
The patriarch shot a glare at Alder Locke, "It doesnāt matter who she resembles, I still donāt agree!"
"Little Hao," seeing that the patriarch was truly angry, Emma Reynolds chimed in with a reminder.
"Hmph, if youāre not going to say it, forget it!" Alder Locke leaned back again, continuing to munch on his apple.
A few minutes later, Titus Zane once again appeared at the cottage, standing at the door without entering, her expression cold and seemingly not pleased as she looked at Alder Locke inside.
"Alder Locke, trouble you to take me back."
She had it figured out; it must have been that bastardās doing. Otherwise, the security guards wouldnāt stop any other aunties from going out to buy groceries; why on earth were they only stopping her?
Besides, even if she left the compound, she couldnāt catch a cab and still wouldnāt be able to get back downtown.
"Youāre back!" Alder Lockeās face lit up with surprise, and he rose to go over to her. He had just taken a step when he suddenly remembered the half-eaten apple in his hand, which he tossed into the trash can before striding over.
"Come inside, weāll have dinner, and then Iāll take you back." Alder Locke grabbed Titus Zaneās wrist to go inside, but she shook off his hand, still standing at the door, "Or you could just ask the guard to let me leave."
"What nonsense are you talking about? Youāre not actually thinking of walking back, are you?" Alder Locke frowned disapprovingly, appearing much like a couple in conversation with Titus Zane.
