Hayatobi and Keegan stood completely rooted to the ground, their chests heaving as they stared at the red-skinned lady suspended high in the dark, churning sky. The eerie, unnatural smirk on her face seemed to mock the very concept of their resistance."I am invincib--"
BAM!!!
Before the arrogant declaration could even fully leave her lips, a massive, blinding blast of pure force smashed right into her face. The sheer weight of the impact warped the space around her, sending her flying violently down to the earth like a fallen meteor.
BOOM!
She smashed heavily onto the ruined street, the structural bedrock giving way in a massive crater as thick plumes of concrete smoke went flying into the air, completely obscuring her landing zone.
Everyone blinked in profound confusion. The defensive line stood frozen, turning their heads up to the sky, tracking the trajectory of the strike. Breaking through the heavy cloud cover, they witnessed Guardian Bonita slowly descending downward.
"That was a magical attack? How did it affect her?" Keegan asked in genuine surprise. They had just witnessed the entity completely absorb every ounce of their energy without a scratch.
"The guardians are truly powerful." Mariana muttered under her breath, her fingers trembling slightly over her guzheng as she stared at the third Guardian of the realm, who lightly and gracefully landed before Hayatobi and Keegan, shielding them from the crater.
"Hehehehe... Someone who got divine energy by luck dares to attack me!!"
The heavy debris shifted, and Carolina casually shattered the massive rock pinning her down, effortlessly getting back to her feet as the smoke cleared. Her crimson skin was entirely unblemished.
"Divine energy is far different from your normal spiritual energy!! It doesn’t belong to this world, and only those from Ancient Bloodlines can have infinite!! You only have a limited amount, which will be consumed in this battle!!" She yelled at Bonita, her voice echoing with a resonance that chilled the blood of every mortal present.
"I won’t hold back against you!!!!"
A terrifying, blindingly silver energy suddenly burst out from Carolina’s core, spreading all over the place. It was heavy, suffocating, and possessed a qualitative density that made standard spirit energy feel like thin air.
"Divine energy?" Bonita was genuinely dumbfounded, her own silver aura instinctively flaring to push back the encroaching silver tide.
"Hehehehe! Yes! Hehehe! I am one of those with ancient bloodlines!! Tell me third Guardian, where are the remaining three? I want to kill all of you together!!" Carolina taunted, her eyes burning with an archaic, bloodthirsty malice.
"Sorry to disappoint, they are all back to the empires, guarding the royal families, I am the only one here." Bonita lied smoothly, as a brilliant, blinding golden armor manifested and snapped onto her body. A long, ornate sword and a massive, rune-carved shield appeared seamlessly in her hands—all of them genuine God-class artifacts.
"Hehehe... Impressive, but your energy is limited, that is your doom." Carolina added, correcting the Guardian’s false confidence, and slowly raised one hand high above her head.
"I will show you the terror of those who has divine energy!!"
’This Bitch is absolutely right! My Divine energy is strictly limited, I will surely run out of it in a protracted fight. And I can’t use my endless spirit energy against her immunity... There is only one way to face this type of enemy. Kill her with one definitive move.’ Bonita thought, her grip tightening on her sword as she watched Caroline’s sinister umbrella rise telekinetically from the ground, hovering menacingly above her open hand.
"Hehehehe! The whole island will die!!"
BOOM!
The umbrella vibrated violently for a fraction of a second, and then started spinning with apocalyptic, violent speed, wide opened to the heavens.
"This is bad!" Bonita turned her head sharply back to Hayatobi and Keegan, her stoic Guardian facade cracking:
"She is using Divine energy to power up that skill!! Divine energy is a hundred times stronger than spirit energy!! You all must retreat!" She yelled at them, the panic in her voice absolute.
"I will intercept the attack!!"
Bonita shot forward, moving with intense, explosive speed. As she closed the distance, she instinctively looked up in the sky, her senses picking up a massive spatial displacement, seeing three distinct lights moving towards them at breakneck velocity.
’Is this attack so foundationally dangerous that the others immediately took action?’ Bonita thought in shock.
High in the sky, plunging through the atmosphere, Nita and the other two hidden Guardians were diving directly towards the battlefield, abandoning all pretense of observation:
"Bonita!! Guardian formation!!!" Nita’s voice boomed loudly.
"Oh?"
Carolina paused her spinning weapon and casually raised her head to the sky. "I detected these small flies when I used my energy, who would have thought they were watching the show, anyway, it’s too late now... This whole island will be turned into a graveyard."
’Shit!! I sent Bonita down to face her, maybe to deliberately draw the main leader out of hiding, but I completely miscalculated. This enemy actively possesses one of the ancient bloodlines from the fourth world’s great families!! And she is actually using a forbidden God-class skill! If it descends, everyone on the island will die for sure!!’ Nita gritted her teeth in deep frustration, abruptly stopping some distance away from Carolina and standing firmly in midair.
’Or... is she the actual leader??’ She thought, the terrifying possibility dawning on her as she raised one glowing hand high into the sky.
The other three Guardians instantly stopped their descent, moving into perfectly synchronized coordinates to form a massive spatial square, placing the smirking Carolina directly at the dead center.
"Guardians!!! Four Guardian formation!!!" Nita screamed. Her stored Divine energy violently rose into the air, smashing high into the sky and weaving together to form a massive, ethereal silver padlock.
"Yes!!"
Fernando, Jang Gu, and Bonita nodded in fierce agreement, and forcefully sent their own divine energy blasting into the sky to feed the array.
BOOOOM!
The concentrated energy exploded right above them, instantly forming thick, glowing silver lines. The threads moved rapidly towards the central padlock, intricately wrapping around it and cascading downward, forming a massive, inescapable glowing net.
"What is happening?" Keegan muttered in sheer horror, the immense pressure of the formation forcing him to his knees.
"I don’t believe this... The whole Guardians are actually joining hands against this single monster." Yakima muttered, her eyes wide as she stared at the descending net, which violently smashed right into the ground, completely enclosing the space and separating the defenders from the red-skinned lady.
"This is officially the strongest absolute defense in the second world!! It’s universally known as Impenetrable!! Is this creature really that powerful?!" Hayatobi asked. Realizing the apocalyptic nature of the clash, he turned and yelled at the soldiers:
"Everyone!! Retreat!!"
Hearing his desperate words, all the remaining soldiers broke formation. They turned around and ran away, moving with their absolute fastest speed toward the teleportation circle.
Hovering safely away from the shockwaves, the members of Ghost watched the chaos unfold.
"Aren’t we going to help?" Grace asked in a low, hesitant voice, her hands clutching her staff.
"Help? Even Lord Hayatobi is actively running away! What can we possibly do against something that requires four Guardians to suppress?" David said in a low voice.
"Big Sister, can you kill that monster?" Carl asked, turning his hopeful gaze to Mirabella, trusting her absolute strength above all else.
"I only need one move to kill her." Mirabella answered with a terrifyingly flat expression, casually crossing her arms on her chest:
’Of course, with Adira.’
"All of you, get inside my barrier." She said. Her golden barrier instantly expanded outward. Her team quickly and obediently rushed forward, entering the absolute safety of her protection.
"Truthfully, why aren’t you helping?" Cupcake whispered quietly, perched lightly on Mirabella’s shoulder.
’That monster... She is actually the Sword Empire’s princess. Carolina... Well, that’s what I am seeing in my system interface.’ Mirabella answered telepathically, her golden eyes narrowing as she moved her gaze around the battlefield, mapping the disaster.
’I don’t know if she is currently possessed, or if this twisted monstrosity is her true, hidden self, but regardless... I still have to deal with her eventually.’
"LET ME GO!!!!"
Jessica screamed at the top of her lungs, viciously kicking the heavy iron cage door. The enchanted metal instantly responded, sending a brutal, high-voltage shock directly into her system, throwing her violently backward. She grabbed her spasming leg in agonizing pain, panting heavily as she stared at Nadia, who was standing casually outside the bars with a terrifying, hollow killing intent.
Jessica had finally woken up some minutes ago, her mind snapping back to reality, fully regaining her own control and completely breaking free from Nadia’s deep psychological illusion. However, the true nightmare was just beginning. Not only had she permanently lost the coveted mythic eye, but her strength had plummeted; she was now merely a Lv1 Fighter. At this very moment, she was practically no different from an ordinary, fragile human, not to mention her core was completely shattered.
"You have attacked that exact spot on the cage five times in a row... If your continued, you won’t be able to use that leg again." Nadia said in an eerily calm, conversational tone. The Master Teacher was holding a delicate silver spoon, casually scooping up a fresh human eye from a bloody porcelain bowl, and eating it whole.
"Hmm... So tender." She muttered, her eyes half-closed in sick pleasure as she slowly chewed the grotesque morsel.
"You are a monster!!" Jessica screamed at her in absolute disgust and helpless killing intent, her wide, tear-filled eyes staring at the fresh piles of human flesh and butchered body parts messily displayed on the metallic table.
Nadia wasn’t remotely bothered by the insult. She casually reached out, picked up a severed human finger, and took a casual bite, cracking the bone.
"Not so hard... Filled with flavor. The only downside is the thick blood." She pointed a bloody fingernail at the dark crimson pooling on the floor, then slowly turned her head to the corner of the room. Sitting upright on the cold, damp ground were three freshly severed heads, their lifeless eyes staring blankly into the void. They belonged to Ethan, Angela, and Miranda.
"Men’s blood are naturally bad and bitter, I should check the other two for a better vintage." She added, her gaze lingering on her dead students.
"You..." Jessica choked on her words, the bile rising so fiercely in her throat that she was completely disgusted, leaving her utterly speechless in the dark.
