Chapter 260: Chapter 260: The Hidden Rules of the Amusement ParkAlthough Xu Huo didnât eat candy, Yan Jiayu loved it and kept stuffing one piece after another into her mouth, sharing the delicious experience with her stuffed rabbit while munching away.
The stuffed rabbit, which initially sat on the sofa, gradually ended up kneeling at the table, resting on the edge, and staring at her with eager eyes.
Time had long passed the ten-minute mark, yet the stuffed rabbit hadnât forcibly snatched any candy.
"Since weâre bound to lose this game anyway, why donât you just declare us the losers?" Xu Huo said at this point, "Save us some time."
The stuffed rabbit was unwilling, "How can I declare the visitors have lost when the game hasnât even started?"
"Thatâs too bad." Xu Huo shook his head, "You canât play âpaper,â and you arenât willing to declare our loss, so you can only watch us eat all the candy."
The stuffed rabbit slammed the table and rose, glaring angrily at him, "Then hurry up and play the game with me!"
Xu Huo laughed, "I feel safer staying inside the cabin than going outside, especially since you canât just end the game whenever you want."
"Youâre driving me mad!" The stuffed rabbit turned and ran to the fireplace, grabbed the decorative axe above it, and charged at Xu Huo in two strides, raising it to chop down at his face!
Xu Huo dodged to the side, the axe struck the floor, creating a large pit, then was easily pulled out and unleashed another relentless attack.
Human and rabbit chasing each other around the room, the stuffed rabbit wielded the axe competently, smashing almost everything breakable inside the cabin, and seeming increasingly frenzied from not being able to injure Xu Huo, its voice growing more irate, "Iâm going to kill you!"
The stuffed rabbit, axe in hand, cast shadows as it darted around the cabin, while Xu Huo held his sword but didnât make a move, simply parrying when necessary.
"The instance rules say that staff canât be harmed during the tour," Yan Jiayu stayed by the table as Xu Huo and the stuffed rabbit tacitly avoided her area, "but I donât think it says anything about not being able to during the game."
Hearing her words, the stuffed rabbit hesitated for a moment, then stepped back, short of breath, "If you donât follow the game rules, youâll be subject to severe punishment!"
"Itâs lying!" Yan Jiayu grabbed the stone stick.
Yet Xu Huo said, "How could we do such violent things in an amusement park?"
He sheathed his sword, and said to the stuffed rabbit, "How about this, you concede the game and let us win, and Iâll give you some candy. What do you say?"
This offer was viable, and the stuffed rabbit hesitated there for a while before asking, "How much candy will you give me?"
"Five jar candies." Xu Huo replied.
That wonât do, at least ten," the stuffed rabbit refused.
"Four." Xu Huo lowered the offer.
"Then nine!" the stuffed rabbit quickly said.
"Three." Xu Huo further decreased it.
"Eight... no, seven, canât be any less..." the stuffed rabbitâs speech was interrupted before finishing, "Two."
The stuffed rabbit, infuriated, screamed and hopped about cursing Xu Huo, "Youâre a dishonest adult, you bully children, you said five and now itâs two, youâre a bad guy! Bad guy, bad guy, bad guy!"
Amid the sharp cries, an invisible force surged out of the wooden cabin; while the items inside only trembled, the giant rabbits that were gathered outside the cabin instantly burst into puffs of blood mist, not one escaped.
"You set the game rules yourself, donât you want to abide by them?" Xu Huo ignored the plush rabbitâs screams.
The plush rabbit immediately shut its mouth. Unable to express more with its doll-like body, it still stomped its feet furiously until Yan Jiayu handed it some sugar to calm it down.
After stuffing the candy into the pocket on its belly, it pulled out several small hats the size of fingertips, "Sister, I like you, so Iâll give you a few more."
Yan Jiayu glanced at Xu Huo first, and seeing him shake his head, she said, "I only want two."
"But all these little hats are different, which two does Sister want?" the plush rabbit asked innocently, tilting its head, "Each little hat is unique."
Yan Jiayu looked at the pink little hats it touched, indeed they were all different: there were tall top hats, short top hats, Duck Tongue Caps, and berets. Aside from their shapes, she seemed unable to discern any other differences.
"Do the fifteen hats need to be of different types?" she asked, directing the question both to Xu Huo and to the plush rabbit.
"Iâm just a rabbit, how would I know so much?" the plush rabbit laughed.
Xu Huo walked over and patted the rabbitâs head, randomly picked two hats, and asked, "Is there a place where candy is sold?"
The plush rabbit ran away from under his hand, hopping and jumping to the door, pointing to another path that appeared in front of the wooden house: "Go check out the Mirror Tent over there."
After it spoke, it hopped out of the wooden house, and not far away, candy wrappers began to flutter out.
Yan Jiayu picked up the remaining candy, walked over to Xu Huo, and looking at the different-shaped hats in his hands, she said, "Does the key to clearing the stage have nothing to do with the shape of the hats?"
"Itâs not clear yet, but judging from the rabbitâs behavior, getting the little hats doesnât seem difficult. If itâs just about getting fifteen hats, thereâs no need for ten game points." Xu Huo examined the small hats inside and out but didnât find anything resembling a mark.
He paused and then said, "However, taking fewer is safer than taking more. The main premise of the game is not to destroy the Pink Hat, so the extra hats canât be destroyed and probably canât be discarded either."
Yan Jiayu nodded, "I saw that rabbit almost drooling, yet it didnât forcibly snatch the candy to eat. Forcible snatching is probably not allowed in this Chapter, and whatever it wants must be willingly given by others."
This is the hidden rule, not explicitly stated, but very much in line with the logic of a child.
If the Chapter is based on "voluntary" actions, then forcefully making someone accept the excess little hats would also be considered invalid or a breach of the rules. Thatâs why the player who came in earlier left after failing to deceive.
Xu Huo shared the same view, saying, "The Mirror Tent isnât on the guide map of the amusement parkâs routes, but since the rabbit pointed in that direction, we can go take a look first."
"I have no problem," Yan Jiayu agreed readily.
The two left the wooden hut and followed the guide signs through the jungle to the "Mirror Tent."
From a distance, they could see a small amusement park scattered among the trees. Besides the plush animals hustling around, there were quite a few players lingering here.
"Why are there so many people?" Yan Jiayu wondered aloud.
Indeed, there were quite a few people. In addition to the three players hovering at the entrance, many players were walking around inside the amusement park. The largest gathering was at a giant tent on the innermost side, where some players were queuing, while others were simply watching the passersby.
But without exception, they all hung the little hats on the outside, even deliberately walking back and forth to make their presence known.
"You guys are new here, right?" Before they even entered, two players immediately came over with friendly smiles, "Would you like a copy of the upgraded guide to the amusement?"
