“Village chief, open the door, please.”

Chen Yang called out from outside.

The two women, though up, were sitting in the inner room, not daring to go out.

“Chen Yang, are the wolves outside gone?”

Instead of answering Chen Yang, Li Han asked a question that made Chen Yang want to laugh and cry.

“They’re gone, long gone.

At this hour, where would you find wolves daring to stay in the village?” Chen Yang explained with a smile.

Hearing that the wolves were gone, the two women were still somewhat uneasy, even having Chen Yang accompany them around the yard for a bit.
