Axel and Heinz both could feel the eyes of almost everyone lingering on them. Unlike Axel, who ignored the gazes of everyone, Heinz stared back at all who gazed at them. Not in a bad way, but smiling at all of them and nodding.This room alone had the height of two floors combined. A necessary measure to make the room look grand and to accommodate all those large chandeliers. There was a long, balcony-like side platform, set 4 meters high, facing inwards on either side. Stairs were set on either side, and students could walk up to the platforms. Watch from above, and you’ll see that there are also small tables set there. Groups of students could sit and hold private conversations amongst themselves.
Of course, there were also balconies which provided a view outward; one doesn’t need to walk up the small stairs to access those balconies. They were connected to this ground section of the ballroom. Axel didn’t go up the small stairs or go to the balconies to get a breath of fresh air.
For a moment, Axel noticed Ken Dusker dressed up exaggeratedly and flirting with some girls who were instead looking towards him from the corner of their eyes from the high platform on the sides.
Ignoring Ken, he went towards one corner of the room, where there were many small tables set on the ground level, as well as the large dining tables filled with mouth-watering food. However, both he and Heinz would have loved to sit on those tables and start eating like rabid dogs with no manners whatsoever. Especially since being a Seeker allows you to consume enormous amounts of food if one wants to. Or go by with the mana in their system. However, they do have to consume natural food occasionally.
Though there were alternatives to it, some special pills or potions, made by alchemists, could be used instead of real food, and one could live on them for a long time. However, excessive use of any medicine can be harmful in the long term, so unless one is in a highly precarious situation with no access to edible, healthy foods. A seeker wouldn’t resort to living on such pills or potions.
Heinz sat down right opposite him, and asked while sipping a fruit drink at the table, "I don’t see the two girls anywhere?"
"Which is why your brain is still functioning." Axel commented with no hesitation.
His friend almost choked on the drink and hurriedly drank a glass of water to save himself. Heinz said in anger,
"Hmph, we will see if you can remain a smartass when your girl appears."
Axel said with a stoic and proud face, mirroring Jojo, "Unlike you, I am no simp. I am a Chad."
Heinz kept looking at him as if there was something wrong with his head. This time, Axel started drinking a glass of fruit juice to hide his embarrassment, because even he didn’t believe himself when he said that.
Thankfully, many other students began to approach their table to greet them, exchange polite words, and socialize. Axel greeted them all with a smile; they saved him from any obscene comments that his friend was about to throw right after.
Axel currently ranks as the second-highest student among the 1,100-1,200 students; his status and demeanor demand total respect from almost every student, regardless of their social background. Not to mention, he was destined to be the next greatest runecaster. A connection formed with him was invaluable in every way. Then there was his close relationship with Heinz, Lumina, and the rumors saying how the valkyrie had fallen for him.
He was like the brightest blue star in the entire luxurious ballroom, like a magnet sucking in all the attention. Heinz, right beside him, was also highly respected, despite his commoner status; he was the third-ranked individual, after all.
The students with top backgrounds who had a good connection with Axel came in together, and the waiters running around the luxurious ballroom readjusted the chairs and tables so that they could accommodate everyone sitting together. The two girls would take more time to prepare themselves anyway, so they might as well chat in the meantime.
Enrick, Thorian, Jaden, Heinz, and he all sat together in a newly set round table, which became the center of everyone’s attention. All the top male students now sat together at one single table, those who would one day become the most important pillars of humanity. Jaden had also let go of some of his grudge against Axel by now. Understanding that it was better in the long run to have a good relationship with him than to be grumpy.
Not to mention, almost every single student within the academy by now had at least one of Axel’s rune tools; some had higher-quality weapons than others, depending on how close they were to Axel.
Enrick commented, "It seems only Prince Lucien and Conner aren’t here."
Jaden scowled, "Can we not talk about that golden-haired bastard. I wish he would disappear."
Thorian asked in worry, "I haven’t seen Prince Lucien in days. Don’t tell me he did disappear."
Heinz’s expression became somewhat rigid at the mention of Lucien. Axel understood the difficulties his friend was facing and diverted the topic. "Don’t worry, no more disappearances will occur as long as the spatial dome is up."
"But I am a bit perplexed by how the principal intends to bring back those who have disappeared. If the principal had enough information on this, he would have already taken action on this matter, I believe."
Jaden nodded in agreement, "From what the principal had explained at that time when he had first put up the dome. I have surmised that within the covering range of this spatial dome. The perpetrators have likely set up an independent space or have access to a background space akin to the false void."
"But due to the principal’s complete block in this whole sphere area, including all the layers of dimensions in this fragment of reality. They do not have a method to teleport away entirely. Even more than that. Just mainly targeting the students of the six minor kingdoms seems too strange."
Axel looked at Jaden with a sigh. He truly had to admit. This bastard’s analytical thinking when it comes to figuring out what was going on at large was genuinely frightening. It wasn’t the information that Jaden revealed that was important. Most of them already knew that part to some extent. But it was the part that Jaden did not speak aloud. The bastard already had a great suspicion in his mind about what could happen. The real play the principal was playing.
More than that, Jaden knew if he tried to fight against it or even revealed his suspicions to anyone. It would be detrimental to himself. So, he chose to be quiet, being as cautious as possible on his part. While giving a silent warning to those who could understand the true meaning of the words he was trying to convey.
But the idiot wasn’t good enough at giving hints or explanations in these matters. Only Axel could understand because he already knew. Except for him, the others nodded in agreement to his statement. Even Heinz remained entirely oblivious to it. But it was better this way. Only then could he.....
He was compelled to halt his prolonged internal deliberation. As a sudden announcement was made, its contents silenced all murmurs and drew gasps from all male and female students, waiters, and staff members of the academy alike. However, it was Axel himself who was most shocked by the completely unexpected turn of events.
