Chapter 420: Titled: Demon of Despair

Just as Axel reached back up to the level from which he been dropped, Seventh Umbra at the same time broke free from Axel’s bind of the Demonic Roar.But Axel wasn’t disappointed. Since his demonic roar skill was directly copied from the Seventh Umbra’s attack, it was obvious that the 4th phase assassin would have his way of negating the effect of it.
Yet, the same couldn’t be said about Seventh Umbra’s underlings. They were paralyzed with fear and could only watch from the sidelines as the two mighty beings clashed. This time, Seventh Umbra started to use his greatest ability, as the assassin chanted darkly, "Black Spider Threads."
Axel grinned with the skull mask on his face. He smeared some of his demonic blood on top of the sharp 2nd-tier rune sword.
Jhim!!! Jhim!!!!
The sword seemed to vibrate madly in excitement, as if a new layer of power was added on top of it. Axel saw the silhouette of the Seventh Umbra completely blend into the darkness. As all of his underlings were now useless to help him, he could only go all out.
Axel’s demonic red eyes flashed. He saw countless black colored threads come at him from all directions, from every layer of shadows and darkness where light could not reach. And in such an environment, it proved to be an extremely deadly ability.
Axel held his sword high up, and with the sword overcharged by his demon blood, he slashed downward. Although it wasn’t able to slash through all of the black threads coming towards him, it at least eliminated half of them.
But the other half, coming from all other directions, wrapped around his demonic body. Amongst that half, more were simply destroyed by the potent ’Despair’ his blood carried, yet the remaining number that did wrap around his body seemed to hinder his movements and deliver small pulses of mind shock.
It was not one massive blow to his mind, but small doses that gradually took a greater negative effect over time. Axel instantly realized that, even amongst 4th-phase Seekers. This man was exceptional.
For a moment, his mind stilled as his gaze landed on the rune sword in his hand, as an odd feeling started to bubble from within, as if there was something he was doing wrong, and this feeling evidently came from his second demonic heart.
More and more black threads wrapped around his whole demonic body, and the adverse effects of it started to stack, but he ignored and focused more on this gut feeling of his, then a monstrous voice spoke in his mind.

Just as he heard those words, his closed eyelids opened wide, as if a blind man been given sight. He stored the sword in his tool space, and a violent power burst forth from within. His two demonic hearts, till now, were beating at different paces all this time.
Now they seem to suddenly fall into a rhythmic frequency. Becoming something more than just a sum of their individual parts. A burst of violently explosive demonic energy radiated outward from him. That burned through the black spider threads as if they were nothing.
The piled-up adverse effects within his mind also vanished as he received another notification from Prime,
Axel’s claws elongated, becoming sharper and more dangerous. This time, he did not think; he did not analyze. He simply charged forward head-on, directly onto the place where the assassin lay in wait, deeper into the shadows like a spider waiting in ambush.
But sometimes the web of a spider catches something too strong, too great for it to be bound by mere black threads. No matter what the attribute of it may be.
Axel, with his elongated claws, slashed out as an arc of bloody claws filled with demonic energy tore into the gigantic spiderweb that the Seventh Umbra had created. But it did not collapse, as the web seemed to cover the entire structure.
Then Axel heard the cold voice of the Seventh Umbra speak, "Crushing of the 12-Legged Mountain Spider."
From close to the tip of the mountain, where the center point of the spider web lay. Twelve almost mountain-long massive legs of a gargantuan spider came crashing down on Axel’s face, with no warning whatsoever. And the speed of it was horrendous, as was the power behind it. Which, for a moment, completely overpowered him.
But Axel’s mind went black as he lost himself in the thrill of battle. He punched and clawed again and again and again. His demonic fists fighting against the strongest technique of the 4th phase powerhouse, and the assassin’s true combat prowess was far beyond his initial 2nd phase stage of power.
BANG!!! BANG!!! BANG!!!!
The more Axel became injured, the greater the power in his veins grew; his two hearts pumped more blood faster and faster. Making his entire figure glow in the bright, scorching demonic energy.
There was, in fact, no spider; the visage of the 12-legged mountain spider and its legs that were attacking Axel from above were nothing but a method of Seventh Umbra’s manifestation of power. Unlike Seventh Umbra’s ultimate attack.
Axel was like an unkillable cockroach; his power only grew stronger, alongside his maddening laughter that sent chills down the spines of the hundreds of assassins witnessing this event, as Osiris reveled in the thirst of a hard-fought battle against a stronger foe.
Despite Seventh Umbra using his strongest ability, he was not gaining any visible ground against the demon. Coupled with the innate fear that humans had of the demons, it brought forth despair even amid the cold and emotionless assassins who were trained to die at the mere command of their superior.
This generated an ever greater depth of despair, and the assassins’ overflowing despair fed Osiris, making him stronger. Thus creating a perpetual cycle.
As Axel’s strength reached a new threshold. This time, he did not punch at the incoming crushing spider leg; he grabbed it with his two hands and pulled. Then a disturbing sound of flesh-tearing was heard; the Seventh Umbra howled in pain.
As this was a manifestation generated from the spirit of the 4th phase assassin, the pain must be extremely horrible for him. But Axel did not give a damn, as he was almost like a wild beast who had lost his mind and would not stop until he killed his enemy for good.
But he, in fact, did not lose his mind; rather, he was preparing for a powerful attack to end this whole charade. His demonic energy at this moment was unusually focused. It was extremely violent.
Axel used his savage killing intent like a coating layer and started to compress an enormous amount of his powerful demonic energy, and just as he expected, Seventh Umbra had slowly sneaked in closer to him, as Axel seemed busy ripping apart the manifested spider legs.
Just as the 4th phase assassin was about to deliver the killing blow after manifesting himself from the very dark shadows of the spider leg.
Osiris muttered in his demonic voice, "Destructive Demonic Breath."
And all the compressed demonic energy that was gathered right at the center of his chest. Erupted through his mouth in a straight arc of canonic energy blast, headed right towards the Seventh Umbra.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!
A devastating explosion of power occurred; the whole internal dark structure of the mountain was lit for a moment as if sunlight had set foot in that damp place. The blast of energy broke through the very tip of the mountain, even piercing through the clouds above.
The entire mountain shook badly, but thankfully, it did not collapse. As for the Seventh Umbra, his entire body was charred black, no sign of life left in his remains. And the moment that charred body hit the floor. It slowly crumbled into ashes.
What followed afterward was the deepest bloom of despair. The trained emotionless killers, for the first time in their tragic lives, showed genuine emotions on their faces, and they spoke of it as well, in disbelief and terror.
For the Seventh Umbra, a 4th-phase assassin was like an untouchable existence in their eyes. Even after the man erupted with every ounce of unmatched power. Seventh Umbra was decimated, reduced to nothing but ash.
As Osiris finally turned around, his bloody figure and red, vicious eyes looking at them, they remained in their place without moving, utterly giving in to their despair. To which Osiris only smiled menacingly.
And after he was done slaughtering the assassins like dogs, to which they did not even resist. Axel, in his hand, held an extremely concentrated ball of remnant spirit and souls of those killed. It was completely black in color. Exuding a threatening, ominous power.
And Axel, without hesitation, swallowed it through his mouth. And Prime whispered...
