The high-lichās face grew darker. It was supposed to be a simple mission; most of the unified human academiesā teachers were traitors, while only the principal posed a threat whom Zabiur was supposed to eliminate. But everything was going downhill as if the world itself was working against them.
Not only did Alric Stragoy turn out to be far stronger than what was estimated, but there was also his disciple, Galagar Gareth, the Valkyrie, Axel Nomrad, Lumina Suncrest, and a few more of the students who were, in fact, troublesome.
Even all the other regular students showed a greater will and tenacity than what the High-Lich could have ever expected. Everything was flipped on its head. Among the originally 1100+ students, close to half were eliminated, and about 500 remained; however, their target was not to eliminate half, but rather to achieve total elimination.
If he came back with a report saying that, he wasnāt even able to eliminate a bunch of 1st and 2nd phase children of the humans, the ghost emperor would torture his soul for a thousand years. He shuddered just thinking about that possibility.
By now, Zabiur had gained upper hand against his battle with the Lightbringer, Alric was slowly losing his edge, as his energy reserves of the world force were dwindling, in the first place, the western section of the continent where humanity lived was too barren in terms of energy, there were rarely any world force in the air of this whole segment of the continent. In contrast, the ghost island was more abundant in energy.
Alric was not worried, considering how things were going down there; this time, it was he who needed to hold off the High-Lich as long as possible. They might come out of this winning, the principal hoped, with both pride and determination.
The next generation of humanity had truly not let him down; he could never have imagined that they would be able to hold off and fight so well together in such beautiful coordination against the forces of the undead, with absolutely no preparation at all.
But the High-Lich, at this moment, started speaking again in his disturbing voice, breaking his internal thoughts, "Sigh, I did not want to do this, but there is no choice, I have to accomplish the task I was given, no matter the method I have to use."
Alricās eyes narrowed as a bad feeling overcame his heart. He spread his senses far and wide right beneath where all the students were standing. Just from his instincts, he could sense a powerful force building right beneath the feet of those 500 remaining studentsāa terrifying power.
His mind went into hyperdrive, thinking of countless possibilities and scenarios, analyzing everything with the same intensity as a supercomputer. He realized that the Lich had laid out a magic formation there in advance, something untraceable even for him, and could only be sensed when it was activated.
Using unprecedented calculation speed, in a matter of a nanosecond, he had come to one conclusion. He decided that there was only one method to stop the magic formation from exploding right beneath the feet of the students and effectively killing them all.
He created another copy of himself; the copy literally had half of his power, as well as most of his computational ability. The copy shot out from that area at nearly light speed, plummeting downwards like a meteor on fire. The clone had begun to analyze and reverse the mechanics of the magic formation, utilizing all its power. The principalās heart was beating so loud that he could almost hear it.
It all had happened so fast that the Lich had no opportunity to stop the copy created by the principal, but Zabiur had no interest in preventing the copy from descending. And as if waiting for that very opportunity, the mighty High-Lich showed a dangerously wicked smile. In his ghostly voice, the Lich muttered, "Scythe of Eternal Dread."
The one part of the principal who was left, who only had half of his original power, and anything less than the full power of Alric Stragoy, could not maintain the lightbringer form, as both of the copies felt that the powerful form of the Lightbringer was slipping away; all of their thought power focused solely on analyzing and deconstructing the magic formation.
In response to the chant of the High-Lich, an impossibly large scythe, almost 700 meters in length, made of the deathly rotting hands, appeared in the hand of the Lich. It swung the construct right down on the Alric Stragoy in front of him, which the Lich believed to be the main body. As long as the main body of Alric dies, that clone of his will too.
āA foolish move from the mighty human powerhouse out of desperation,ā thought Zabiur.
Alricās copy also attacked the High-Lich, knowing in advance that the Lich would unleash its most significant attack on him, the moment he splits into two. The enormous scythe made of millions of rotten hands came down, tearing up the very clouds in the sky.
The sheer power of that massive attack, far greater than any nuclear attack could ever produce. Then, in the fraction of a second, Alricās figure was cleanly severed in half vertically.

The air itself seemed to scream in pain, as that very space had been tainted and torn by the power of the initial 5th phase High-Lichās attack. With a victorious smile, just as the Deathly Hollow was about to let a final mocking remark, he saw the torn half of the principalās figure smile.
His eyes widened to the extreme, as both of the torn remnants turned to energy particles of Light. As the Lich screamed inside his own mind,
āWhat he left here to take the attack was the clone? And his main body went after the formation? But how can that be possible? How could I mistake Alricās clone for his main body? I should be able to feel it very clearly? This canāt be!!ā
Another dreadful sensation followed; the magic formation, which was supposed to have already exploded, turning the bodies of the remaining students to absolute cinders; even their ashes should not have remained by now.
Yet, what he felt was the breach of that magic formation, as it was completely broken in an instant, but no....how could that even be, the magic formation was supposed to do its job so fast that Alric Stragoy would practically have not enough time to analyze and deconstruct the magic formation. It didnāt make sense, it didnāt make sense in any possible way.
Alric definitely did not know of the magic formationās existence beforehand. Could something else have interfered and changed the magic construct in any way? But that formation was undetectable even for a peak 5th phase powerhouse, let alone anything else within this island.
But alas! How could the mighty Zabiur Ulpranak ever know that there was someone who literally knew of the future events and could indeed sense and alter his magic formation to a certain extent, using the legendary runic eyes, and that individual was just an initial 2nd phase seeker?

All those displeasing emotions, and the fear of failing his mission, then turned to boundless anger, as he narrowed his eyes at the remaining copy of Alric, the supposedly real body of the powerhouse. While he was indeed fooled by the principle of the unified human academy almost two-fold, when it was already supposed to be his win by now.
The overall situation was still the same in the end; Alric had sacrificed almost half of his energy reserves and mental power for the trick he pulled. With a furious wailing screech, he rushed down, intending to destroy the damn Light Elemental expert tonight, no matter what.
"Damn Human, I will destroy your very soul, right before the end of purple eclipse, and thatās a promise."
Alric gritted his teeth, seeing the High-Lich rush at him madly, using every last ounce of his world force. The principal entered the form of Lightbringer again; he knew more than anyone that he would not even survive a single minute without that powerful form.
Just like his disciple Gareth, he also started to sacrifice his life force. If he had to sacrifice himself just like his disciple to keep the next generation safe, he was not someone who would shy away from that sacrifice, especially when his disciple had already done that.
So, their fight started again, but this time, Alric was at an overwhelming disadvantage, despite the brilliant move he had pulled and how miraculously he had saved the students from the inevitable doom.
