Chapter 43: Chapter 43: At Your Service (Part 1)Asher Land sat at the center of the long conference table, his slender fingers occasionally tapping on the keyboard. After listening to the reports from all levels, he nodded thoughtfully.

"Is there anything else? If not, let’s adjourn the meeting."

"President Land, the folks in Europe said that Second Young Master will be coming to Eastern City in a while."

"What’s he coming for?" Asher Land was somewhat puzzled, "Isn’t he doing just fine over in Europe?"

His second brother, Luke Land, usually lived a carefree life, being nothing more than a playboy, holding a nominal position at headquarters just for fun. What’s he coming to Eastern City for this time?

"The old master said he should come to assist you, President Land, and to learn a little from you while he’s at it."

Assist? Hmph, as long as he doesn’t cause trouble.

"Alright, I got it."

With that, Asher Land got up and walked straight out of the conference room.

He sat in his office, somewhat weary, gazing at the scenery outside the window.

In his mind, the image of that woman flashed again. Damn it, it’s only been a few hours since he last saw her, how could he not forget her?

"President Land, did you want to see me?" Robert Williams walked in and asked respectfully.

"Go and bring Sophie Smith to me."

"Yes."

Sophie Smith decided to go back to school today. She hadn’t been away from school for long, but she particularly missed those wonderful times at school. After spending so much time with Asher Land, she felt she was no longer as pure as she used to be; Asher Land had taught her a lot through his actions.

For instance, what is called humiliation.

She felt she was now a great disgrace, Asher Land had destroyed her treasured pride, her dignity. She had to endure humility and compromise by his side. She was no longer the Sophie Smith she used to be; she knew this from the second time she met him.

She climbed five flights of stairs and finally reached her dormitory.

She gently pushed the door open, and Eva Miller, Isabella Yates, and Amy all turned their eyes towards her upon hearing the sound.

"Oh! Sophie, you’re back." Eva Miller leaped off the bed, her hair tousled, and rushed to her, hugging her tightly, "I’ve missed you so much."

"Me too."

Eva Miller was her best female friend in college, there was no one else.

The attitude Isabella Yates had towards her could be imagined. Usually, she considered herself superior. For her, the lead actress in City of Desire could be anyone, but it just couldn’t be Sophie Smith.

"Oh, starring in a lead role and you’re about to fly to the sky, huh? Let me tell you, even if you play ten, a hundred lead roles, it’s all futile. You’re just not destined to be famous!" Isabella Yates said sourly.

"Hey, Isabella, Sophie is our roommate after all, she got such a good opportunity. It’s one thing not to congratulate her, but why do you keep saying such unpleasant things?" Eva Miller said, somewhat indignantly.

"Come on, who knows how she got that role, maybe she did something unspeakable!"

"That’s not true, Sophie earned her role with her own abilities. At the last audition, she was in the room for a long time, so President Land must have been satisfied with her!"

"Forget it, Eva!" As soon as Sophie returned, the dormitory was filled with the smell of gunpowder and she was the cause of it. She didn’t want to see the two quarreling over her.

"Sophie, let’s go out, I’ll treat you to coffee." Eva Miller dragged her hand and walked outside.

The two of them went to a coffee shop, and the atmosphere instantly improved a lot.

"I really don’t know what’s wrong with Isabella Yates. You clearly haven’t offended her, but as soon as she opens her mouth, her words are full of thorns, always targeting you." Eva Miller stirred her coffee, her eyes somewhat dazed, "Sophie, did you know, I’m really envious of you."

Envious? Envious that she’s about to debut and got a lead role? But who could understand the difficulties behind it?

"By the way, can you usually see President Land while on set?"
