Chapter 116: Chapter 116: He’s Playing With Me Again (Part 2)"Where are your clothes?"

"In the wash basin."

What? Sophie ran into the bathroom, only to find that he had tossed all his clothes into the wash basin and filled it with water!

He must have done it on purpose! She felt like he was toying with her again.

"Call your secretary and have her bring some over."

"Oh." Asher Land nodded thoughtfully, "But then I remembered, I think my phone was in my pocket, and I kind of tossed it into the wash basin too."

He leisurely walked into the washroom, pulled the phone out of the water-filled wash basin, and walked up to her with an innocent look, "The phone has blacked out, and all the numbers are gone."

Sophie really wanted to rush over and slap his smug face, but she had no time to waste with his nonsense. Even though she thought about it, she would never actually do it.

"If you think toying with me makes you happy, then go ahead, enjoy yourself. I don’t care." Sophie tried to calm herself down; she needed to have enough endurance with Asher Land. She couldn’t afford to lose it in front of him now, absolutely not.

"You think I’m toying with you?" He just wanted to spend a little more time with her; how could she not see that?

"Of course." She answered with unshakeable certainty.

Asher shook his head but said nothing more. It was clear how she perceived him; even if he sincerely did everything for her, in her eyes, it was nothing more than a pretense.

Soon, the house was filled with Asher Land’s presence again.

Sophie silently walked to the wash basin, ready to clean his clothes. Her only thought now was to get Asher Land out of here as soon as possible.

Of course, Asher could see her thought.

Under her firm stance, he was forced out by Sophie five hours and forty minutes later.

She closed the door, exhaling a sigh of relief from deep within.

She finally got him to leave; how could she get involved with him again?

Yet, fate is always unpredictable.

Early in the morning, Sophie received a message from her manager Sunny.

Sunny said she’d found a major client for her and asked her to meet this client tonight without fail. Only by doing so, she could hope to land the endorsement deal for the company’s products.

Sunny spoke vaguely, but Sophie was well aware. Although she hadn’t been in the entertainment industry for long, she had slowly come to see many truths.

For someone without connections like her, rising to the top is extremely difficult. Sometimes, even after years, there’s still no breakthrough. Many female stars in the industry are in a similar situation, so they resort to unsavory shortcuts, not wanting their youth to be wasted on minor roles that leave no lasting impression.

But Sophie Smith was different.

Sophie chuckled softly, pressed the delete button on her phone, and erased the message sent by Sunny.

It wasn’t that she thought herself too noble; she simply wasn’t ready. She couldn’t bring herself to sell out. She’d rather live a clean, simple life than touch the filthy glamour and vanity behind it all.

She tossed her phone aside, turned over, and continued to sleep.

It wasn’t until almost dusk that Julia Brown called and woke her up.

She rubbed her somewhat drowsy head; she couldn’t believe she had slept the whole day.

"Hey, Julia, what’s up?" she asked in a lazy voice.

"Sophie, don’t tell me you’re still asleep!"

"What’s going on, Julia?" Hearing her tone, it seemed there was something urgent.

"Sophie, didn’t you see the message from Sister Sunny?" Julia asked in surprise.

"Um..." Sophie hesitated. She didn’t know how to explain to Julia since she had deliberately ignored it.

"Oh, I didn’t see it. What did Sister Sunny say?" Sophie pretended to be calm.

"Ah, it doesn’t matter now. Sophie, hurry up and get yourself ready. I’ll drive to your building to pick you up soon." Julia said, then quickly hung up the phone.
